  1. And a warm welcome back to Gary Fraser
  2. And naturally left footed. Danny looked very uncomfortable on the left side
  3. Been saying for weeks McCarthy should start. As a young player he may be a bit up and down like Lindsay was but he could really cement a position in the team
  4. We were appalling across the park today, thought we were decent early in the season but the confidence seems to be draining away with each week we fail to win. I like Paul McGinn but it's a tough ask for him to play left back for an extended period. I think we need to try and bring in an unattached left back at least short term. Bob Harris is still unattached so are Lee Naylor and Jamie Reckord. Not ideal but Booth and Elliott are miles away and we need a natural left back (unless Turnbull can play there without looking like Aero did at right back). As an aside, infuriating we can't recall Penrice. It will make us think twice about sending guys out on potentially beneficial loans in future. Not putting 7 subs on the bench is becoming a pet hate. Unless the young players were playing, guys like Fitzpatrick should be given a chance to be around the team. And if Fraser is fit enough to get a run out for the U20s on Tuesday, he should have been on the bench
  5. This has been awful. Our injuries are brutal but no excuses for the mess for Keown at the goal. We look short of confidence and lopsided. If Turnbull is fit, I can't understand why he isn't playing as Devine is clearly not comfortable on the left. Storey is wasted out wide and his pace should be used against Broadfoot and Greer. We should be giving McCathy a run, the centre of midfield has been horrific for weeks
  6. Can't disagree with any of that to be fair, I was thinking that they produced more players than Rangers and Hearts with a much smaller loss. But the point about them buying success still stands, although I suppose they gave their young talent a chance unlike Dundee and Gretna
  7. Fair point LIB, although even for a club run in the red they produced far better players than a number of massively bigger clubs run much more in the red!
  8. My thoughts exactly, can't abide him but one of the best strikers we have produced in decades. You wonder if he had had his head screwed on a bit more where he could have gone in football. Got to hand it to Livi, their production line of players in the 2000s was fantastic - Griffiths, Dorrans, Snodgrass, McPake, Halliday, MacKay, Davidson etc

    Wtf?

And the Morelos kick at Turnbull
  10. For me we do, we should be giving Andy McCarthy a sustained run of games, he has not let us down any time he has played and looks a good prospect. He cannot be any worse than Adam has been in there this season.
  11. I'm not so sure guys, I feel the guys playing at the highest level and in form should at least be in the squad, it's not something other countries get nervous about. Take Wales throwing 17 year old Ben Woodburn in during their make or break last round of games rather than more experienced players - scored the winner in the first match and assisted the winner in the second. By all accounts Lindsay handled Fernando Llorente very well last week, whilst Berra struggled against Miles Storey at the weekend. Mulgrew, decent player that he is, is playing at pretty low level these days. I do take the point that throwing in Liam could be damaging for him if we have a disaster. Does Christie have a Scottish Granny so he can play at right back
  12. Lindsay left out again in favour of a League 1 player and Berra, who was rotten on Saturday
  13. Cerny has been 50/50 for three games now. Surely he must at least be approaching 55/45
  14. Just reading a few Barnsley forums and they seem to be well impressed with Liam, with one guy saying he will be their record sale (encouraging considering they have developed and sold Stones, Mawson and Holgate). Could be a shrewd sell on clause in the mould of Andy Robertson
  15. No I thought Ryan played well tonight and is a worthy number two. Rangers never tested him much but I thought he looked very comfortable
  16. Haha fair enough, that probably just about qualifies as a good game for a Scottish ref. I also forgot about his ridiculous booking of McGinn so I take it back
  17. Throw in excepted, I actually thought Collum had a decent game tonight. Only thing I didn't get was lengthy injuries to Wallace and Jack in the first half and and 2 minutes were added. No injuries in second half and four minutes added. Don't get me wrong, we were wasting a lot of time, but rarely get more than 3 minutes against St J no matter how much time is wasted!
  18. I think we have a decent side but the midfield just is not working. I really feel we should give McCarthy a run - held his own in the team, can pick a pass and is forward minded
  19. And given the early views of Barnsley fans of Lindsay, let's hope some Premiership team pays a daft sum of money for him in a year or 2 and we get a chunky sell on
  20. I'm the same, I really enjoy getting to see the youngsters play competitive games against senior teams. I would also love an away day to Wales so holding out on that for next year It can also be a bit of reality check - the young players at Celtic and Sevco in particular start to realise the step up to competitive football - how many billy big time loanees like Stevie Lennon have turned up thinking they are brilliant because they have banged in 30 goals in the youths ans reserves
  21. Sounds like the guys gave a good account of themselves last night against a side that the first team only squeezed by.
  22. I think your right, it was Accies. I think it was Richard Offiong he tangled with (who, incidentally, was a good striker here before disappearing way down the pyramid in England
  23. Totally agree it was a yellow and thought Niall was lucky not to see red for the challenge in which he got his first yellow, just didn't think Madden was giving it initially
  24. Yeah I didn't think Keown was getting the second yellow either, then he seen McLean and I think got it in the ear from a few Dons players and then gave him a second booking
  25. I thought the defence played well today, Keown and Turnbull were solid (apart from being split at the first goal), Christie was Christie and Milan did well considering its his first start. They were playing against some of the best forwards in recent SPFL history. The central midfield on the other hand were poor and offered little cover - we missed Abdul. I thought Aberdeen shaded it although a couple of their fans were saying we are the best side they have faced this year. I thought Madden was appalling today, although to be fair he got two big decisions right, the penalty (which I've seen back several times) and the red card. All round though he was terrible and the joyous hug for Scott Wright when he went off was ridiculous from a guy under the cosh from the home support. All that said, think that is Madden's first time back at Firhill since his cancer - great to see him back after overcoming what was probably a horrific experience for him and his family. Final word on the penalty - stonewaller and stupid shove from Banzo...but a shove identical to that which Biton got away with the other week
