  1. The other name was Thomas Libih (sp?) and as was pointed out there was not enough permits available to register them - deals had been agreed
  2. No, that would be too much! I would never ever ever stop laughing if that happened.
  3. Goodness, hearing soooo many different likely scenarios. Latest is that Jags set to vote no but sevco set to be voted into div 1 regardless! Please note this has not come from anyone associated with Thistle but a good source! However it could all change again later!!
  4. Jim - my opening gambit in what could be a fascinating topic! If we all believe change is good and we all believe is necessary - why are clubs using Sevco as a bargaining tool? If change is really necessary then let's do it anyway with the rules being applied without fear or favour. Your comparison of thistle at save the jags time and rangers now is, I'm afraid, so wrong in so many ways. However for me the biggest problems that Thistlw have are almost ALL of their own making - previous chairmen and previous boards ripped the heart and soul out of this club making so many wrong decisions - if the club are willing to spend time bringing fans and directors closer together then that might go someway to address the problems. That will do for now - more later!!
  5. Getting a worrying vibe that the First Division clubs are about to accept the proposal on the table. Still not convinced Sevco will make the start of the season however but it does look like a lot of tummies are being tickled.
  6. General feeling I am getting is the chances of sevco plying their trade in any league is no greater than 50/50.
  7. I challenge One Thistle to take on board our views and opinions and fight our corner with the Board and highlight the dangers. This is also a good opportunity to see if One Thistle is seen as the real deal by our Board, which I think it has the capabilities to be.
  8. Saw my first Thistle game as we coasted to the First Division title in 1976 - seen so many ups and downs since then and shed many tears and raised many laughs - had the great priviledge of being a part of things behind the scenes for many years of the past 36 years and the bus journey home from Peterhead will never be surpassed! HOWEVER now is the time that the main players take full cognisance of the current situation and realise the true feelings of fans. The SPL Chairmen have woken up and smelt the coffee and are going to do what is right and that is not allow a side who have cheated to the tune of potentially 7 league titles and many cups while at the same time stifling creditors (the majority to you and me - honest tax players) to the tune of almost £100,000,000. There may be more to come or there may not be, but is that 9 digit number not enough to spell out the damage they have done to society. I know my club have been basically farting in the wind trying to compete, but while it was a level playing field I could put up with that - now we are talking about an extremely crooked playing field - and it is clear as day that the Scottish footballing public have no time for any machinations that might ease the pain of a deceased club and its offspring. My plea to our BOD, who I know most of and respect greatly is DO NOT underestimate the feeling of the customers here. Yes the need for change is great and we all agree with that - but surely that can be done whether Son of Rangers is in Division One, Division Three or no division at all? Remember SOR have no vote so therefore cannot influence!!! I can undestand that by my rough calculations we would make approx £150k from two extra matches with Rangers from gate money alone (remember we gain no additional Corporate money as that is franchised out!) which would be nice, but at a guess we would lose fans to the tune of approx £90k (please note this is pure guess work but educated guessing i hope!) but remember that is EVERY season from now on. I join with nearly every other Thistle fan on here to say to the BOD be very careful here - the feeling is very strong - no Cheats Charter - I would hate to think after 36 years that I have seen my last ever Thistle game.
  9. Actually question was wrong!! - Billy Gibson was to be the 5th penalty taker - not the 6th!!
  10. and credit too to former club secretary Antonia Kerr who has organised this event!
  11. Jim If you seriously think that the two contract "scam" is not the case then you will be in for a shock! The number of players who were benefitting from EBTs is potentially 75!! That doesnt include the staff - whatever penalties they have been hit with so far will pale into total insignificance by the time that the FTT rules and highlites all their errors - the SPL and SFA will have little option but to act on that - I will be shocked if they do not have their membership of both suspended
  12. Wonder if they would be interested in doing the half time draw? - it's a ball!!
  13. The three players sent off were David Kennedy, Des McKeown and Jamie McKenzie - goals for from Robert Dunn and Paul Tosh - Kenny Arthur had a stupendous second half saving and blocking everything that was thrown at him - my memory of that day was how calm the sea was- i kept looking at it during that wild second half! The referee was the late Bobby Orr.
  14. I do agree with no draws but I believe we should be revolutionary here and if a match finishes level it should be decided by a giant game of Ker-Plunk in the centre circle. Can you imagine the tension as captain Alan Archibald pulls out a giant straw and none of the giant marbles fall, then you would hear the crowd roar!! - Now that would bring the crowds back!!
  15. That clip came from a programme called "Tackle" which was a spoof prgramme shown before a world cup (maybe 98 - but a bit of a guess) i think. The scenes inside Firhill were shown in a programme called "Current Account" which was a programme examining the state of Scottish Football - would guess around 1978/9 era.
  16. this shows all that is wrong with scottish football - why are they allowing people to be discharged from hospital on a saturday? dont they realise its still matchday? - hopefully things like that will change in a reshaped merger between spl and sfl!! many congrats!!
  17. so you also knew that "tom's" real name was walter van shooglehorn! - i don't blame him for using "tom hosie" as an alias!
  18. Whoops - sorry Lance - I was that friend and I didn't have the heart to tell you - I forgot about it too!
