  1. Not the easiest of draws either. Away from home against a decent team. Prefer it to Accies, Falkirk or Airdrie away I guess.
  2. If we could just beat them in a Cup Final while I'm alive, I'll never ask for anything again.
  3. I was 11 months and 2 days old and was in 261 Garscube Road. Pretty sure there was a party going on but I was on the milk. Do it again Jags. It's been too long.
  4. Was just about to post the same. Bet that hasn't happened many times, ever!
  5. Thistle to win today and then go undefeated for the rest of 2024, on their way to winning the league. Have no way whatsoever of backing up my optimism with any data or reasoning. Mon The Jags.
  6. Every week will throw up at least 3 key games and today is no different. Can't make my mind up if by Christmas, one or two teams will be away with it or if you'll be able to throw a blanket over the league, as will be so close. If Raith win today, I might be thinking the latter could happen. Bad things happen when I predict scores for us, so I'll just say; Up The Jags.
  7. Can see where you're coming from and agree that it can be difficult to post at times when there is perceived negativity around the forum. I'm often caught between being a massive supporter of free speech and the allowance of people to give their version of what they see and feel but on the other hand, thinking they need to understand the affect on others. This forum is pretty balanced usually and appears to have a variety of posters and views. We need to keep it that way and not allow any one particular subject / argument or sentiment to takeover every thread. I for one was both surprised and delighted that we won and scored so late in the game yesterday. A player that has taken a lot of criticism beat two men and scored a great goal (thanks to Camallain for sharing). The crowd was 4,300, we're in the play-off positions and we haven't conceded at home in 6 league games in a row. We have a large squad and cover in all positions, with Lawless to come back. And yet, I can hardly remember seeing or feeling any positivity of our situation. I punched the air when I seen we'd scored yesterday and yet I'm left feeling that everyone else was annoyed in some way. Anyway allyo, here's an 'Up The Jags', from me. C'mon Thistle.
  8. Time to go on the run we know we're capable of and get into contention by Christmas. C'mon Thistle.
  9. My attempt at asking if anyone recognised the ironwork from our old gates, turned a bit cryptic I think. The person my Uncle met on holiday has this piece. His Dad was a blacksmith and was asked by the Club to make a centre-piece for our gates. I think they were positioned at the City End of Firhill. Seems when the gates were demolished, he / his Dad somehow got the piece back. He has since repurposed and added the brush and shovel etc. He mentioned that he had contacted the Club in the past and asked if they wanted to display the piece and was told he'd be contacted if that were ever the case. I wondered if there were any old pictures of the gates at Firhill, or if anyone remembered the time when they were in place.
  10. Answering my own question, but the above is a picture of our Thistle emblem (ironwork), that was positioned on the gates that I believe locked the footpath behind the City End goals some time ago. Does anyone have a picture of the gates? Have no idea when the gates were removed. P.S. Just wanted to add, that I'm not an official Thistle archivist. No offence intended on posting on this thread. Cheers CJ
  11. Wasn't really sure where to post this but guess it's archive appropriate. My Uncle got chatting to a 'caravan' neighbour whilst on holiday and the discussion soon turned to Maryhill and Thistle. They shared a friend from the area and also a connection with Thistle. My Uncle being a lifelong fan and the other gent mentioning that his dad, having been a blacksmith, was commissioned to produce something for The Jags many years ago. I'll post the picture below and see if anyone recognises the 'piece'.
  12. Let's go Thistle. Massive day today and will set the tone for the upcoming season. Enjoy everyone. I'll be joining you at Firhill in the near future.
  13. The young guns in the JL were too noisy, so only the City End could be used. A rule change was hastily voted in to allow rushy in and 10 half time 21 the winner. We were skins.
  14. There's absolutely no way we'd be offered a replay or any other compensation for that matter. We weren't even allowed to build a football stand in a football ground we'd owned for a 100 years ffs.

  16. How did you know LIB? I still can't find them.
  17. Thanks FT. Couldn't see the winning numbers when I checked earlier. As it's a Lotto, it would be good to see them.
  18. I see Raith are still at it, with 90th minute goals to win games. Please not another season of that.
  19. Have signed up for the year but unsure how it works tbh. If someone didn't get the three numbers would the prize be £2,000 next month and so on..... How are the other prizes won? Do you need to match 2 numbers or 1 number to win a prize?
  20. Same as me. Just ran round the garden in the skud. Can't remember the last time I did that.
  21. Many thanks FT. Just checked and is showing as 'Pending Cancellation'. Looks like it's being closed in 4 days without me having to take any action. Cheers CJ
  22. HI FT, Thanks for the info. I'm a member of the Centenary Fund and pay by Credit Card each month. Can't find a way to cancel my subscription and can't even remember how I joined. Be a bit disappointing if they charge my card for a product that no longer exists. Will I definitely have to cancel or will they just stop charging me? Cheers CJ
