Followed Aston Villa for over 40 years. It is the 30 years since we beat Bayern Munich in the European Cup Final. It didn't bother me at the time that they outplayed us on the night and there is no reason it should bother Chelsea fans now. They are champions of Europe and should bloody well enjoy the fact.

I have a vauge memory of Jamie Doyle being our captain when he was still a teenager. Unless I'm going senile (quite possible) I would think he must be our youngest captain.

Strange post. Villa are indeed in a state of utter turmoil, a situation that McLeish has largely inherited. The fans are totally pissed off, partly because McLeish has done little or nothing to improve the situation, but mainly because of his Brimingham City connection. I have to say though that the QPR match in question was a cracking game of football, involving some some comical defending from Villa and a stirring comeback. I don't really feel the need to defend EPL, but there can't be many footballing countries that don't have an elite in terms of club sides. It strikes me that 6 is better than 2.

Jim Melrose. Only downside to a truly wonderful night was Kenny Watson scoring for the h*ns. Can even remember them chanting Watson for Scotland. Must be a sign of old age that you can remember when those ******** actually cared. I also believe that future Thistle hero Derek Johnstone set a world record that night for being awarded a goal whilst in such an advanced offside position. Sort of the opposite of Bobby Houston's achievement in the 1979 Scottish Cup Semi.
