  1. With respect was the appointment of our new Chief Executive just another illustration of the perceived old pals arrangement and therefore by your argument he is part of the problem?
  2. I was for giving Archie a chance right up to the Livi double header and he blew it and then the club took the easy/ cheap option to continue with the same management team, now we're easily beaten twice in a week by a team that was 2 leagues below us last season. How many were thinking about renewing/buying a season ticket this coming week?.....might be that the club will be also be regretting not including one of the league cup games on the season ticket. The only positives from today were the pre-match drinks and the old-fashioned character of Somerset Park. Brilliant turn-out from the Thistle support, circa 1000?
  3. The new chair person has an interesting political background... http://powerbase.info/index.php/Jacqui_Low
  4. It's when a club chairman goes public about "agreeing a style of play" with a manager, it doesn't fill me with confidence. It's not quite Romavov and Hearts but......
  5. As stated above, Archie will pretty much have to hit the ground running. I respect but remain unconvinced by the arguments made by the "Archie stay" camp and the Board, nevertheless I wish Alan all the best and hope he turns it around. This is time for all the supporters to put arguments aside. What do people make on this aspect of the statement... "We have also agreed that we must return to playing football like Partick Thistle – we can’t be anyone else" I'm not at all sure what Beattie has in mind here.
  6. Fair enough but what industry can afford to ignore it's customer base. In some countries the workers do elect the management or at least have a strong representation on the mgt board, Germany for example seems to do reasonably well economically.
  7. I was all for giving Archie this season to see if we could retain a place in the top league but it's not worked and like some relationships they run their course. That said, it's a bit unseemly to be banding about names while the guy is still in the job. The Board surely have to take account the feelings of the fans. From the various threads It does seem like the consensus ( between 2/3 and 3/4?) of posters want a change in management. Will the Board be reading these posts and will that influence their decision? Would it be an idea to have a poll with a vote along the lines of...…..The Board should... 1 Look now to recruit a new management team 2 Give Archie a few months and then review the situation 3 Give Archie a season
  8. I have to say that despite all the gloom there's been some fine posts not least this one from Lambies Lost Doo, captures a lot of my thoughts on a difficult Monday. The last paragraph is quite inspiring. Also. thankfully, the discussions generally have been measured.... so far. This feels worse than the play-off defeat 20+ years at Tannadice. Whatever we think of them Dundee Utd had a good team, they are a club with a European pedigree and have a large support. Compare and contrast with Livi…….. I have to sadly agree that Archie has to move on, a really decent and likable bloke but time for a new chapter for Thistle.
  9. Hopefully it will be soon be a case of Mustapha drink to celebrate a win rather than Mustapha drink after watching the lad play. I'll get my coat...
  10. jlsa I agree with your points, I'm not defending Stevenson or the management. When it's a small crowd like last night the shouts must be heard by the players and I don't see it motivating them to up their game. Also, some credit to the club on the pricing and hospitality deal for last night.
  11. That was grim, the knackered PA, the idiot in the NS shouting at Stevenson "you fat useless barsteward" , being beaten by a team that included Kerr and Baird, Falkirk time wasting- now rife n the game. Baird's smug coupon at the corner kick, humphy wee fecker. And it starting pissing with rain at the end...Hopefully just a low point in the season. Grrrrrr
  12. Nice day for it today. Talking of Tynecastle, does any-one know about the ticket arrangements? Will it be pay at the gate?
  13. As previously posted, the Stevo selection must have been un the hope that he could keep the ball until support arrived from mid-field, in retrospect Archie must realise that it didn't work. What was with the long delay in Stevo coming back on to the field after his head knock, was the ref too bust admiring the players in green and white? Pogba looks like he could be a good signing. Is that the first time Thistle have had 3 black players on the field?
  14. Didn't realise it was a comment following the youth cup final, of course you don't get that context in the main stream media
  15. Well done Mhairi. Labour lost as they have no Balls, ouch..... Murphy in denial and no credibility, surely he has to resign.
  16. very quiet out in the streets tonight....the water front has bizarrely disappeared into the distance, but what's that on the horizon?... a female figure on a surf board riding a great wave, and another 40, 45, maybe 50 behind her all decked out in yellow and black.......
  17. Lady IB, are you able to expand on this interaction? Kennedy, former Liberal leader?
  18. Hopefully we can now progress and become an established top 6 team but I miss the trips to the likes of Arbroath and Ayr. Winning the league at Forfar and Lambie with the players appearing in he stand and entertaining the jubilant fans with the party songs. Great memories. Hopefully we get some decent cup tie away days next season.
  19. to go down, in order....not that bothered, all 3 have decent sets of supporters. 1 Killie because of the pitch, crap atmosphere 2 County as it's such a trek although a great away-day. Derek Adams was the manager 3 Motherwell, probably biased as I know people out that way and the people of North Lanarkshire are ok in my books, To go up.... 1 Hibs as Edinboro Is a good day out and they will bring a large support. 2 QoS as it's been years since I've been and also a top away-day 3 Sevco......ok there is the financial aspect but if we have Hibs and Hearts maybe not such an issue. Not enough space to detail the negatives, let them rot in hell
  20. I'm a pint glass empty never mind half-empty guy but we're surely now going to play in the top league in 15-16. Should be good a trip south for those who made the journey.
  21. Didn't see the game but just glad that my conspiracy theory suggesting that Accies might not be bothered - in order to protect the L'shire derby - proved to be bollox.
  22. ChewingGum, I'm not rising to the bait. I suppose everyone on this kind of political thread is trying to suss others out, where exactly do their allegiances lie and so on. While I respect your opinions I'm glad that we differ on just about everything and no doubt the feeling is mutual. Vive le difference! You can have the last word.
  23. Yep, all the above. How dare they be denied the treble! And the next referee who has to make a big decision for/against Celtic in a cup semi/final game won't have it in the back of their mind that if they "penalise" the team in the hoops then this is the kind of onslaught they will have to live with in the aftermath of that decision.
