  1. At last the seeds are being sown for the right way to see Thistle (and beech hedges) grow and come to fruition. But will anybody plough money into it? After all, we've a good crop of youngsters coming through.
  2. Yes, yes, yes! A Youtube must! Especially since the "Firhill 1980" clip that was there has been blocked thanks to WMG and EMI.....unbelievable! Thanks!
  3. Brilliant. Presumably you'd need time for it all to come together.
  4. Ah, thank you, M'Lady. (Where's the hat-doffing emoticon....)
  5. Me too. Many an afternoon and evening were spent with friends having "cup matches", giving a running commentary on the game while it was going on, and trying to explain to the (imaginary) listening public why the inside left had to leave the field for the remainder of the game (he'd just been knelt on by me or friend).
  6. Hmm, I don't think so for either of those. The old north terracing was bigger than the one in the top photo, and immediately to the right of the no. 10 (looks like Alex Rae) there's some kind of building which would not have existed at Firhill (not least because all that was there was the nolly). Also, I've no recollection of the old jungle at Porkheid having a 6-ft wall like that; Firhill was unique for it's wall. I think.....
  7. And another: I've got an old Jags Subbuteo team, with the old wire-stick goalie. This is a more recent version, clearly inferior quality and with a plastic stick goalie....... but currently at £100 !. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subbuteo-PARTICK-THISTLE-HW-Team-Ref-29-Very-Rare-Bases-/280664435360?pt=UK_SportsMemorabilia_Subbuteo_SM&hash=item4158e76aa0#ht_7579wt_1141 Baffled.
  8. Here, it looks like St Johnstone are celebrating a goal in Perth against the Jags (top photo), but the bottom photo is described as an offside goal by St Johnstone against Celtic (bottom photo). That also seems fair enough, but that's Firhill in the bottom photo, isn't it????? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Henry-Hall-St-Johnstone-v-Celtic-Press-Pic-v-Partick-/300551022463?pt=UK_SportsMemorabilia_Football_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item45fa3ca77f#ht_500wt_1156
  9. All good points. But the government needs to know precisely who has their main bog outside the main hoose, and how many Jedi are invading the country.
  10. Drunk on Japanese sake, last summer in that thread I told everybody to be prepared for us finishing 1st.
  11. Think he might be a Danish Fife miner's son fae Fife.
  12. That ought to sort out the pitch for the rest of the season.
  13. Then you should take her along to the game!
  14. Good luck to Maxi in his new role.
  15. Brilliant to have pulled up into second place, which will get us the same amount of cash as last time. Impossible to catch the Greenock mob (most of whom have received "Bru" cash for years), but still need to consolidate 2nd spot.
  16. And yet it's not just about any manager on the planet that has such a good record in lower-league football as Campbell. Funny old game, fitba'.
  17. That strikes me as a very narrow and immature way of looking at our premier league, not to mention the OF. And I love it!
  18. Kyoto Sanga? I'll be there, and I guess Sigesige would show up.
  19. Now that's what I'd call thinking outside the box!
  20. Ah, that old argument. If our backs went up because we objected to some company on ethical or political grounds we'd probably never eat, wear clothes, drive cars, use computers or mobile phones, to name a few activities that we all engage in rather more frequently than filling out a simple once-in-a-decade census form.
  21. I suspect that there's no way we'll know if he'll be at Firhill next season until much nearer August. He's clearly not going to walk into the tarts first team, as they're doing quite well as it is. At the same time, I don't think they'll give him a free, so it's probably "wait and see" for all concerned. Would be happy to see him back with us for the championship-winning campaign.
  22. I must admit that I don't understand the animosity towards the census or those getting some employment to deliver and collect the forms. The form is hardly difficult to complete, and there's nothing especially intrusive that's being asked. You get almost as much hassle these days if you try to open a new bank account. I actually think that there should have been a quite different set of questions for helping to take a snapshot of what society was like right now, but for some reason I was overlooked as a consultant when the form was being designed.
  23. At the risk of repeating myself.....great thread!
  24. They'd probably not have a clue what you meant.
  25. Aah.....now I don't know which of you two is at it....... Both?
