  1. Gary Fraser of Peterhead had his SFA appeal Hearing today, against his red card last Saturday against East Fife. His red card was downgraded to yellow, and he is available to play against his old team on Saturday. (Us.) Most unusual for the SFA Appeals panel to do us a favour .
  2. Jimmy was before my time at Firhill, PTFC1942. In the "Partick Thistle Legends" book, he is described as a free kick specialist, and a tribute said "As an attacking half-back he has few equals and few can put more venom and direction into a free kick." It's well known that after his playing career finished, he returned to Firhill as a groundsman for about 15 years, but less well known is that as a 14 year old in 1939, Jimmy was a "Bevin Boy" down the pits at the start of World War Two. I think his first senior outing was in 1945, where the Jags had a clash of fixtures. The first team went to Germany to play a game against an Army 11, and Jimmy got his debut at the same time in Inverness, against a Clach side. He never looked back, although he took a couple of years to become firmly established in the first team.
  3. AFK, looking at the clean sheets record in the lists section (goal-clean sheet streaks) of the Archive, it shows that we had 5 consecutive clean sheets in league games twice. In 1968 ( Dundee United, Raith Rovers, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts.) and 2013 (Hamilton,Airdrie,Dunfermline, Dumbarton and Hamilton again). If Keiran Wright has a clean sheet next week against Peterhead, he equals that record for league games. The 7 competitive clean streaks in 1921 were against Airdrie, Hearts, Albion Rovers, Hibs twice (Scottish Cup ), Morton, Hibs again Scottish Cup 2nd replay).
  4. The player did nothing wrong in the way he scored. If he had, the goal would not have counted. It's not even unsporting conduct. I did see in one of yesterday's papers that he was cautioned for the altercation afterwards. He didn't do anything then either! Crazy!
  5. Totally agree. We know who voted with Thistle in this league. You can have it emblazoned on the back of one of BowenBoys redyellow.org teeshirts, in case you forget!
  6. The voting figures from the votes are mentioned, but not a club by club breakdown, DL. Needless to say, Dundee do find a dishonourable mention in dispatches. Brechin City, with their farcical reprieve, (and prior potential relegation to the Lowland as opposed to Highland League) come out as baddies. Well worth a read.
  7. I see that an article has just been added to the "Particles" section of the thistle archive outlining the "Bad Friday" vote to end last season, and the unsavoury aftermath. The article is " Factions and fractions: The calling of the season 19-20 & the eviction of PTFC". Good article, but even now, painful reading.
  8. Has nobody told him you can wear boots with screw in studs of differing lengths? I hope that his degree isn't in Sports Science. Someone should buy him a pair of pukka boots for Christmas
  9. The "Warp speed "zone. The ball travels quickly, and in our case, comes out the other side!!
  10. From today's "games played on this date" in the Thistle Archive, we played Johnstone away in 1882 in a friendly. The report starts "Played at Johnstone (eight men a side)......" I wonder if Ian McCall might have any success putting this option to the SFA/SPFL, until our injury problems ease? Thought not, only asking.
  11. Can I have a Pina Colada instead?!
  12. The girl on the beer can is Axl Rose's mother in law. Or former mother in law!
  13. The matchday programme for the Dumbarton game is now available from www.curtis-sport.com site. (Search for Partick Thistle. ) At this time of the year, anyone seeking to get the programme on time should order now
  14. I think Andy Mac knows that. He's said that other posters are JLow. Unless he thinks JLow has multiple accounts, which I suppose is possible. McO can't be JLow. She can spell properly. Turned me off Scally, though.
  15. Yes, but look the donations, with only a "minor " donation from FoH. The mystery benefactors seem to have been busy!
  16. Do you mean someone into religious music, like the born again virgin Cliff R, or someone who has a cheery disposition and an unfortunate infectious illness?
  17. I can't but agree that being rude won't get Doncaster anywhere, AJ. He has history here. His reaction after the tribunal Hearing was outrageous. I'll follow the rugby request with interest. As a previous poster said, the SRU may be flying a kite, but we'll see next week.
  18. The SRU are talking about Murrayfield, LIB. All football clubs, theatres, etc should have safe entry/exit strategies in place by now, so hopefully if crowds were to return, tender footsteps will grow to our normal footfall before long. Still a way to go before then, with the disease incidence as it currently stands in the W of S.
  19. On the "Cruise critic " website (P&O thread), a number of health care workers in England have said that they have appointments for Tuesday 1st December for their 1st Covid vaccination . 2nd following 2 weeks later. If this is true, at least one vaccine is due to be approved tomorrow or Monday.
  20. On 23/09/20 the Joint Response Group met Fitzpatrick and the SG were to contact the UK government seeking additional funding for Scottish sport. It looks like the UK government has said to Fitzpatrick to look to the £20 billion ? given to the SG for Covid costs to find the cash needed. But the UK government has increased funding for sport in England, and refused to increase funding elsewhere. We are stuck in the middle of this, and an earlier promise by the SG has disappeared into the ether! The SPFL even set up a news conference to announce the funding, only for the conference not to take place! Since then - zilch.
  21. Scottish Rugby Union looking to get crowds of 1,000 in January, building to crowds of 20,000 for the 5 Nations games. Meeting Fitzpatrick this week. If this gets the go ahead, football supporters are being treated as 2nd class citizens. If that happens, the SFA/SPFL need to seek a judicial review of the decision. On this occasion, I think Scottish football is right to contest the way we are being treated. The SG needs to get it's head round the fact that very few football fans are hooligans in this day and age. We were supposed to get funding earlier this year, but the payday came and went. UK government have rejected the Barnett sum due as a result of their £20 million payment to National League clubs. Said the SG got sufficient funds to deal in Coid issues in Scotland. I'm speechless at their audacity.
  22. Always shown on the "Latest Jags action " on the home page of The Thistle Archive ".
  23. Not subscribing to the Montrose ppv, so I'll be following the Jagszone commentary. Looking forward to the belated highlights, and I trust Sena will end today with a further happy memory to add to the time he had there. I thought that Tam O'Ware and Salim Kouider-Aissa were close to returning?
  24. The only clubs Celtic loaned players to this season were those who were in favour of the season finishing early. Dundee; Ross Co; Cove Rangers; Dunfermline; Queens Park . Doubt they'd come near us with a barge pole.
