BowenBoys
A selection of Margaret Thatcher’s private papers has been gifted to the nation by her estate in lieu of an inheritance tax bill in excess of £1 million. Jaggernaut
mon the Tories You do realise that some of those private papers are likely to include notes to herself such as: "Pissed all over the plebs again today. And some of the stupid b*stards still support us. They are unbelievably stupid!"

Beggars belief. I agree. Inheritance tax is an abomination. More people voted for Thatcher in her third general election victory than her first. This was more people than ever voted for Tony Blair. After Thatcher left the next Tory government was endorsed with the vote of more people than ever before or since in a UK general election. Maggie was no angel, but fook me, the "witch" tag is getting pretty tiresome, especially when you hear these lefties groan every time a tory reminds them New labour left a note saying "the money's gone". More Scots voted for Thatcher's Tories in 3 uk elections than Salmond's SNP in 4. Maybe we Scots just love a bossy female?

jaggybunnet
Lets not forget the recent revelations that she knew of Pedophiles at large in Westminister and said nothing about it Did she, and your Proof is? also even if she did was there proof to do anything about it. do you know that there is none in holyrood or your work place, if you suspect/know there is what have you done about it? Its aright coming with statements like your one above but without proof they are pointless and to be honest dangerous and in the witch hunt that follows innocent people get dragged in to it. For clarity, if there is proof that she was knowingly involved i would be just as disgusted as anyone.

Lambies Lost Doo
Don't forget Alex Salmond said he didn't mind her economic policies. Like all big leaders she did good and bad. However 25 years after she left power and people still raise her name it is empty student like soundbites. As a keen historian paying for her papers is worth it as it will be for Blair, Sturgeon, Major, Dewar etc.
Norgethistle
Lets remember she took on a country decimated by Labour and the unions so tough decisions were needed. Britain turned around under her. Cameron took the UK on after Gordon brown sold our assets and put us back in massive debt, again tough decisions were needed. Scotland's councils are in a mess due to the Scottish Government (SNP) decision to freeze council tax for years, these councils still need to give pay rises, pay electricity (street lighting etc) which has risen year on year, this is why 1000's of council workers are losing jobs, not the Tories but the SNP

Thatcher largely destroyed the social fabric of Britain, and did more to create division than any other leader. Scotland's councils are in no more of a mess than councils in any other part of the so-called United Kingdom. The council tax freeze has been extremely popular in Scotland, or haven't you noticed the results of recent elections? And in which councils are "1000's" of council workers losing jobs? You obviously don't read the news, of course a tax freeze is popular, but things need paying. And with prices rising year on year for wages, Tarmac, electricity, fuel, paint etc etc, when the income is frozen a deficit occurs, which means services and jobs are cut http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-33190881 How did Salmonds fantasy oil fund work out?? I see they dropped the new figures out on last day of parliament with a £7 billion readjustment
Blackpool Jags
I don't think Th*tcher is still so widely hated because she did good things. She was reviled because, as always in class conflict situations, she looked after her class (the captains of industry and capital, anti-trade unionists, right wing cranks of all shades and hues - eg Pinochet and that ilk). Not that proof is required, but if anyone cares to look at the current social fabric of eg former industrial-based communities and towns (notably mining) compared to 30 years ago, the contrast if vomit inducing. Her crimes against humanity are manifest for all to see, through to this day. She was a steely but embittered class warrior who crushed the working class of the UK. Some may choose to look back and now see her in some sort of messianic light. However, the bitter truth is that she was a vile, twisted old crone with an obsessive revulsion of the working class and their elected spokespersons. May its disgusting remains putrefy for eternity.

It wasn't Thatcher that killed the mines, it was Scargill believing he was invincible, and killed the unions to boot.

IIRC it was actually labour that got rid of the majority of coal mines.

Lambies Lost Doo
Council tax freeze works for me as I'm lucky not needing many services and not working for a local authority. It's the Scottish Government performing austerity like all areas of Europe.
