Pie Of The Month
Falkirk releasing 18 players Jamie Barclay, Michael Andrews, Robert Olijnek, Craig McLeish, Mehdi Khalis, Brian McLean, Burton O'Brien, Chris Mitchell, Carl Finnegan, Pedro Moutinho, Tam McManus, Euen Grant, James Bloom, Keiran Stallard, Scott Davidson, Grant Santi, Joseph McCafferty and Lewis Bonar. Tam McManus has a decent record this season, 7 goals in 11 starts and 4 sub appearances. The major problem with him is he's never too far away from his next injury. Always thought Brian McLean was a decent defender too. Edited May 5, 2011 by Pie Of The Month

Two or three will be high earners that were on SPL wages (maybe one them is McLean?). McManus looks like he's carrying a bit of weight but that could be down to lack of training due to his injuries. Btw bit surprised to not see Deuchar on that list.

Pie Of The Month
Dunfermline releasing a few players too... Kyle Allison Alex Burke Chris Higgins Jake Hyde Neil McGregor Greg Paterson With the sheer number of players being released across the division and the SPL we might be able to get players in for less than they'd previously earn as they don't have many options if they're going to stay full time. Vom Itorium
Neil McGregor would be a good signing if he's fit. Left-sided too is he not? Paddy's replacement?
SussexJag
No way are people on £1,500pw, but that's not to say we can shell out for guaranteed quality at this level. Management is now all important, moreso than which players we sign. Even with budgetary differences, there wont be much between the teams next season, we proved it by beating everyone this year. Therefore Jackie needs to show he can 'simply': A) get the best out of each squad member for a long part of the season; forge a 'die for each other' collective eg that Dundee clearly had this season (although it pains me to say it). All obvious but most managers can't do it. Lambie could and that's why he's easily our most successful manager of the last 30 years. He had different ways of achieving it, asking players to do different things, hunting non-triers ir mistake signings very quickly, giving mavericks a chance, and while it didnt always work, many of his players had thebest spells of their careers under him and i dont remember many Lambie teams who could everbe accused if chucking it. Pie Of The Month
and continuing the trend of 1st division players releasing a fair amount of players are Raith Rovers who are getting rid of First team Mark Campbell Mark Ferry Andrew McNeil Stephen Simmons Gregory Tade Gary Wales Graham Weir Craig Wilson Under 19's/Reserves Graeme Beveridge Jamie Stewart Craig Wedderburn Thomas Graham Jamie Mackie Jordan McKechnie Kevin Brown Are we the only team with a decent amount of players signed up for next season? Remember the criticism from a few people in the media at Thistle releasing players over the summer and then signing them back up and it now seems we're the only club handing out deals because of the prudence of the past couple of years. Alan Murray
Spl teams are looking at him apparently. He turned down a contract at Raith.
Paddy Thistle
Tade, anyone? I'd take Tade in an instant - any time I've seen hinm he impresses but read last week Inverness and Dunfermilne were interested in him so would suspect he is at end of his contract rather than being released

Well, that hopefully will put a dent in Raith Rovers' attack.
MWM
Tade, McMenamin? Some people really have pie in the sky expectations as to what sort of players we can afford to bring in. Unless of course we somehow burst the bank or these guys somehow turn down better offers.

Unless of course we somehow burst the bank or these guys somehow turn down better offers. Tade will go to the SPL but players like McMenamin won't be inundated with offers at this level. Queens are cutting their budget, Raith are cutting their budget and it's fairly unlikely Dundee will be bringing back a player they sacked less than a year ago. McMenamin lives in Glasgow and it may be ideal for players like him to stay local and we'd be one of the few options offering full time football. McCall went on about having the 7th or 8th lowest budget in the division, that might be true (although how he knew others budgets I don't know) but Morton and perhaps Livingston apart the gap between our budget and the budget of others must be closing with the massive cuts others seem to be making. uberteeb
Erskine left, Doolan through the middle and Tade on the right. We could field 4 supporters in defence and go up winning every game 9-8.

Unless of course we somehow burst the bank or these guys somehow turn down better offers. Tade has real pace so he's thus not really too much of a risk moving up to SPL. McMenamin's days at that level are long gone. I can see him going back to Dundee but if you read back a bit on this thread you'll see the reasoning behind how he could come into our price range. MWM
Well aside from that, theres one bit of really good news. Paul Di Giacomo is looking like signing for Morton. Thank **** for that.
lady-isobel-barnett
Well aside from that, theres one bit of really good news. Paul Di Giacomo is looking like signing for Morton. Thank **** for that. He is tho' a good footballer and if he ever got his attitude sorted out he could be a handful. Fortunately few folk ever go to Morton and improve or come good. I still think McKinlay (an exception to that rule) if fit wouldn't be a bad re-signing.
Jeehon
'That' time of the year again...McMenamin is past it, the guy can't stay with a team for a sustained amount of time and he's getting on a bit anyway. John Rankin is Dundee United bound, Colin Nish is out of our league and will probably go to England. McBain is too old, Munro is nothing we don't have and Russell Duncan could probably go down south or even stay in the SPL as well.
