SussexJag
Not sure it matters. In scotland when ive said 'thistle' no one has ever thought anything other than thistle, ie 'our' one. Even down here thistle means ptfc to any fan with a brain that extends to pre-mourinho premiership bollocks. Dont worry too much about dafties / wa&/ers
Partick Panther
Anything has got to be better than "Partick Thistle Nil"
Harry Wragg
What pisses me off more than all else is for any other team in the country with " Thistle " in their title being called "Jags" , that belongs exclusively to the "Maryhill Magyars" !!! aka , the one and only " Harry Wraggs " !!! Blackpool Jags
I think the point is that it matters to us, regardless of what outsiders feel like referring to us as. We are "Thistle" - why? Because we just are. Even taxi drivers get it.
Norgethistle
Its high time the commentators called us "Thistle, the one team in Glasgow"
redandyellowribbons
Perosnally, I think that Thistle is a far more marketable brand than Partick. You couldn't even fill a bus in Partick. How we are portrayed and how we are perceived affects the level of interest, relevance and potential support. As many have pointed out, it's not worth caring too much about a small provincial minded club.
Garscube Road End
THISTLE! AND ALWAYS WILL BE!
AlgarveJag
I won't renew my Sky subscription or buy another Daily Ranger until we are recognised as the Maryhill Magyars. Not Maryhill nor Magyars, I need the full title to be recognised and homage paid. ... but I'd settle for The Jags!
stoomac
If we all hate partick so much why not change our name to maryhill.
peagreenboy
If we all hate partick so much why not change our name to maryhill. Technically we're not in Maryhill, so we should really be renamed Queen's Cross Thistle ...
northernsoul
Technically we are in Maryhill.
redandyellowribbons
If we all hate partick so much why not change our name to maryhill. All the hatred and derision on this thread seems to be directed at Thistle not Partick. And just for the record, we all know the types who come to firhill and shout Partick. Why don't you all piss off back to your other team.
Mojo4171
Red and Yellow ribbons What the F***k are you on about go back to your other team, you know the type!,! Born and brought up in PARTICk and followed the Jags for the best part of 60 years. Brother, sons and Grandson Jags supporters. Taken to my first game in 1963 by my Father who always called his team PARTICK 78 years. So what kind of type are we? Go and have a cold bath the heat must be getting to you
Scamps
It's not about disliking one part of the name or the other, it's about the fact we are Partick Thistle and for me it shouldn't be that hard for the media to add a Th when in print. Although I do dislike being referred to as simply Partick, unless its necessary to fit into a song. It's a heartache...
