  1. Fantastic result. Hearts didn't look too much like threatening today.
  2. After watching that first half, I now understand why people so frequently post things like, "It could have been 2 or 3".....
  3. Why put this on smaller clubs with little to no history of this kind of behavior? This shouldn't be the default - it should be put upon clubs after they've met a certain threshold/severity level of incidents. And there should be a provision put in place where, if fans of some team decide to have a laugh and go to another team's games, dress in that team's colors, and behave terribly in an effort to get that team penalized, then their true club gets fined double. ETA. The doubling of the fine is to pay the offended club as a curative measure.
  4. Rest in peace Charlie, and all the best to his loved ones and friends.
  5. Daily Record update: "A final polish of the balls and then we're off!" Good to know we start our mornings the same...
  6. Ditto on Jagzone. I only do the PPV option, but the presentation, commentary, and camera work are all very high quality. It feels more like I'm watching a regional TV station than a webcast. Have never had any login issues either - at most some picture freezing which usually sorts itself out on its own or with a refresh. That's understandable given my connection speed and distance. For comparison's sake, I used to get the Fox Soccer Plus station here in the States so I could watch a few games our first season back in the top league. I believe it was basically a bootleg broadcast of Sky Sports or BT Sport.....anyway, Jagzone is of equal or better quality.
  7. I like the idea of a bidding war for Lindsay, though anything less than 1m would be a failure in my opinion. Anyone ever confirm what we got for Jack Hendry?
  8. The only thing I can see now that can help rejuvenate football in Scotland would be to try getting the national team back to prominence and let that success trickle down to the domestic leagues. At best, you get something sustainable and at worst, you catch lightning in a bottle. Going back to the late 90's, early 2000's here in America, our then-crappy football league got a boost from our 2002 World Cup performance where we shocked Luis Figo's Portugal side and ended up making the quarters. The domestic game got increased attention until people realized it was mostly a fluke and that we still had subpar players overall, but without that attention who knows how long it would have taken to build up the league. As far as how to get the national team back to prominence, no clue. Maybe start by gutting the team of anyone over the age of 30 or with over 20 caps? I mean, if the squad is terrible now, what sense does it make to keep losing with guys who aren't the future like Darren Fletcher, Steven Naismith, and Gordon Greer?
  9. I feel so bad for Sevco fans, what with all us diddy clubs getting in the way of their two-team league. It's such a shame that being in Scotland is holding them back from the opportunity to commit tax evasion on a grander scale.
  10. Hard to predict an outcome here depending on the formation, but I think a reasonable guess would be 7 broken chairs, 2 broken urinals, and 1 defaced mural. Also one stopped-up toilet that goes unprosecuted.
  11. Is it time to put the kids in yet?
  12. Not a tactician by any stretch of the imagination so can't comment on that, but after the first 15 mins or so it looked like everyone forgot how to play as a team. Seemed an awful lot of slips on the playing surface too. Let's hope they get this out of their system now that we have a run of games without layoffs.
  13. First time doing the pay per view. Very happily surprised with the quality of video and the commentators. Will be doing this again.
  14. I like the message it sends too. Do us a turn and you'll always be welcomed back. It's that environment that gets guys like Lyle Taylor to help convince free agents that this is a good place to be.
  15. Don't need to be a fortune patellar to know the physios are tendon to his injury.
  16. What a load of crap. Diplomatic response from our Club, but "breakdown in communications" implies there were communications to begin with. You can't "break down" something that was never "built". And the previous sentence indicates the SPFL changed historical practice unilaterally with no communication to the clubs. Sorry SPFL board, but if you don't understand that your smaller clubs are required to budget differently from your bigger clubs with regard to the importance of projected revenue, which is already kind of playing with fire to begin with, then you probably have no business running a league. I swear to effing everything that is holy that Neil Doncaster gets his news about non-OF clubs the same way Varys gets his rumors on GoT.
  17. I don't think spending money on the first team really counts as an investment, at least as far as the Weirs are concerned. With an investment, you usually get a return on your money. I think the only logical place for them to put their money is into the youth setup or maybe a stadium refresh. And I'm only cautiously optimistic about the youth setup. I haven't been to Firhill in forever - have they fixed any of the amenities that fans have complained about for years, e.g. the toilets or the seats covered in bird droppings?
  18. This is the part that worries me. Look at most any club with a top-flight academy and it's a very small number of players that break through to the first team. I certainly can't suggest a better way of doing things - this is the best possible use of the Weirs' generosity. But how exactly will our top-flight academy outperform other academies' "hit rate"? Is it simply that we don't have to find the next world-beating superstar and can settle on building a competitive first team, for which the odds are much higher?
  19. Like maybe a few others, my concern is only how ThistleWeir becomes able to financially support itself in the long run. What's happened to date makes total sense - Weirs finance for an initial few years and agree to extend their investment based on the progress made - but at some point it has to become self-sustaining, right? Would be interesting to know what the plan is for that to happen. Don't want to have to rely on the Weirs to fund the academy into perpetuity.
  20. As a proud owner of a pair from a few seasons back, I can tell you they reek only of glory!
