  1. Calmed down a bit after last night. Perspective needed, we are sitting 11th and losing daft goals for fun and we are up against a team who hope to go all season unbeaten. That said the manner of defeat is hard to take. Individual mistakes, repeated individual mistakes, could make this our last year at the top table. Collectively our defence is poor. A lot poorer than last year no the manager (or the club)need to take responsibility for that. The most right footed player on the planet plays left midfield - he puts in some defensive shift but nothing going forward. Cerny isn't fit. Apart from going down in instalments for the second goal, several times the defenders were calling on him to come and collect the ball and he stayed on his line costing us a corner or throw in. We seem to have a blind spot when it comes to playing Celtic - please can we give it a serous go before we go? Ps I assume the club sell tickets for the front rows to the JH stand that have no seat knowing the Celtic fans will not sit as every space looked full. The big hard stewards in the northy spent the game telling weans to get back to their seat or they'll get removed, whilst the fans in the JH can stand and hang over the wall? (Something that is not allowed when we are in there). I hate everything about playing at home against those 2. Doubt I'll be back against them.
  2. Watched the game again after being there on Friday and after calming down. Aberdeen were better than us all over the park with their passing and moving in midfield significantly sharper than ours. That said we had 4 better than decent chances. Azeez and Devine in the first half (Ade stick yer laces through it son) and Erskine and Devine in the second. A bit of composure or luck and it's a different game. Cracking finish for the winner. Keeper getting a bit of stick but how square were the centre backs when the ball came through the middle of them. What worries me is that our defence looks strongest with Barton at the back, but our midfield looks better with him in it! A centre half in and we'll be good. Disappointed to lose, but up until the last kick we were still in it.
  3. Don't disagree, just looking for a united front on Saturday at the game. By all means have our praising or moans afterwards, but at the game lets really get behind him and the team. Archie day part 2 - where did I put my mask?
  4. No manager is beyond criticism despite the thoughts of some on the forum, however some of the criticism on here is extreme. Some think he's untouchable, others think he should be sacked. Regardless of your position, If he's in the dugout on Saturday, let's pull together and show our appreciation of Archie.
  5. Would rather he stayed, all the best to him if he goes.
  6. Osman Welsh Barton Fraser Banzo Wilson Edwards
  7. Didn't really go into yesterday with much confidence. Are we too predictable to play against now? Does the manager know his best team? Looking back to the squad Archie inherited when we got promoted, where are we better off 3 years later? Defensively, no chance, especially in the full back positions. Our out ball was to the overlapping full backs and although Booth tries this, his final ball is not the best. Don't think wingback play is Gordon's strength. The central defenders don't seem to play as a partnership. Not as good as previous players. Midfield, Lawless, Erskine, Welsh, Banzo if fit, not really progressed from the promotion team. I like Osman and Edwards but with Fraser getting fit, what's the best formation and selection. Archie must have signed either full time or on loan almost double figures trying to upgrade and with the exception of Taylor, he has never improved on Dools. I'm a big fan or Archie but there is something lacking in either his selection of new players or the clubs backing of him getting the players he wants. Letting 3 defenders go at the end of the season is now biting us. Muzzy has never played a full season wherever he has been so it leaves us alarmingly short. It's going to be a long season.
  8. To be replaced with 'the boys are back in town'. Can this be dumped please?
  9. Bit of a roller coaster today. Only 1 team wanting to play football and we played some excellent stuff. But for some howling defending we'd have won that. All that was missing from the first goal was Benny Hill music. Going forward we looked good in spells, but we don't half kill off some attacks with pedestrian midfield play. Dools looks short on confidence and Azeez is busy but not a natural finisher. Hopefully a couple of goals can change their fortunes. Amoo was as good as I've seen him and was unlucky to be hooked. Killie are brutal, mostly direct and feed of the second ball. Not an ounce of football in them. How much have they shortened the pitch to stop teams playing?
  10. Circa 2400 core home support and no matter what the club do, we can't seem to increase that number significantly. Part of the problem is that a few performances like yesterday and that number will dwindle. Cost is an issue - my old man used to say anymore than the cost of 3 pints and people will stay in the pub. We are flanked by the other 2 glasgow teams, and all the neighbouring towns have their own teams, paisley, Hamilton etc. Maybe other than for a 'big game' this is good as it gets. How do we increase the gate?
  11. A tad harsh, plenty of energy, effort and is at least direct. A final ball away from being decent.
  12. That was grim. No real pass marks to be given out. We are going to struggle with that defence. Are we better off in that department than we were last year? Not for me. Can't really figure out the system, we have no width. Dools is not a midfielder, or even a number 10. Tries hard but a waste of a jersey in that position which leaves us short of a midfielder. Erskine and Lawless seem to want to play in the same part of the pitch and Osman and Welsh excel in sideways and back. Worryingly I don't think we know our best system or our best 11.
  13. Not sure about that. Seaborne, Frans out, replaced by Devine a step up? Still time to add though. Think Conrad was sold a pup from his agent, trials everywhere before ending up at Killie, by which time we had moved on. Is he better than what we have? Given we have little or no cover at centre half, yes. Him coming back will depend on Archies other targets and how much budget he has.
  14. Sore one yesterday, could have won it only to lose it at the end. Hearts are some size of team, they must have a minimum height policy. Despite that they had lots of possession without creating clear cut chances. Tony Watt looks a player, almost everything went through him. From a Jags point of view, yesterday showed how thin our squad is with a few missing. looking at the bench there was not much to change it. Pogba.... Nope. Nothing else to say there. Need a centre half, a midfielder even on loan (given the injuries and inevitable suspensions) and a replacement for Pogba. Very winnable next few games though. Onwards and upwards.
  15. Get on the phone to Gary and get it sorted.
  16. Ok the season is not long finished, but equally not long till the squad is back. If we are to believe Freddie and Gary are only squad players and we have known for some time Dan is off then we can only assume we have at least 1 centre half lined up. We now need 2 and maybe a utility defender like Gary. But maybe Christie will cover right back. Didn't check, but Gary must have played more games than Muzzy who seems a tad injury prone. Whatever way you dress it up losing 3 players from 6 in he 4th best defence in the league is not an ideal starting place. I'm sure Archie wanted to keep them, hence the offers, but maybe the club can't afford to offer terms they can accept.
  17. Lawless is a Rangers fan, was before he played for us, will be when he leaves. Why wouldn't he be happy that he believes they are back? Should he express his opinion on Twitter? Not for me, but that's between him and the club. Had he been a Dunfermline fan and he tweeted them being back, would we be cracking up? Doubt it. Did Chico ever do an interview without mentioning Celtic? Did we hang him out to dry? For what it is worth, I think he's off and he knows it. Will still cheer him on Saturday if he plays. Don't think he'll be joining Mensa anytime soon though.
  18. Anyone else think Ryan looks like this classic character.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/content/image_galleries/rentaghost_110106_gallery.shtml?4
  19. Keep it going team, we the firhill faithful need you.
  20. Would love to see us give this a go. We never laid a glove on them earlier in the season and no one expects us to do much. 2 up front or at least a few attacking midfielders on. What's the point of brining in the young Celtic lad if we don't play him. Throw everything at them.
  21. What does that mean? The league is the bread and butter every year. So we shouldn't bother at all with the cups?
