  1. Anyone else remember this? 25 years ago or so, when Arsenal were re-developing the North End at Highbury (behind the goals) to create their all seated stand. For a full season they hid the building work behind a huge mural which depicted supporters at the game. The effect was brilliant, and it was done so well that whenever the TV cameras panned by the scene to capture the on field action, at first glance you never noticed you were looking at a painted picture. All done on the normal hoarding boards you see around building sites. At Firhill it probably wouldn't need to be any higher than 12 feet or so. We now have the capability of artistic input and costs would be relatively cheap. And yes, it would hide the disgrace that is the bing.
  2. Are they supplying gas masks? Air freshners?
  3. He's ended up with egg on his face (again)
  4. I like the idea of a planned gathering. After the first home game of the season, we head of to an exclusively booked pub function room, watch some jags related vids on a big screen, have some fundraising activities when we're all semi pished, add in a sprinkling of Jags legends from the past, Sir Robert Reid as M.C. for the evening, then about 10pm we head to The Taj Mahal (the restaurant, not the place in India) which has also been pre booked for the evening on behalf of all things Jaggy. Those of a younger persuasion can then go on to a 'gentlemans club' in the early hours and enjoy watching some real diddies. Admittedly the plan may need a little refinement, but I don't think it would be too hard to organise, will be semi informal, and could raise a few pounds for lightbulbs for the floodlights etc.
  5. "Thanks for the offer of a contract boss, but I won't be signing it." "Oh, would you mind telling me why not Scott?" "I want to play for a team that can challenge for trophies, boss. You know, play in front of larger crowds, play for a club where I can get more exposure, boss. I really want to regain my place as Scotland's third goalkeeper, you know, when others are out injured like." "Have you got another club in mind, Scott?" "Yes, indeed I have actually. I want to play for County boss, Ross County." "Ahh, yes....I see...well...ermmm, be a good chap and close the door on the way out will you?"
  6. My finger was poised over the Like This button as I agreed with everything you said until I read your final sentence. I know Gallacher is 102 years old, but I was dissapointed when he was left out towards the end of last season. Still a very capable keeper for at least two more years, and certainly no worse than Fox. Scully will still need looked after for another season at least and Gallacher is the man to do it.
  7. Oops, silly me, thanks for highlighting. At least I'm not the only one with that opinion.
  8. Where's John Tuffey these days? And he was a better keeper.
  9. Fug me Mr Britton9, I don't' know why that made me laugh as much as it did. Well done, Sir!
  10. Too much hair for Anderson! This was the Thistle team that I grew up watching and its odd how I still get enjoyment reading those names and seeing these marvellous pictures from that era. However recalling the names of the players from between '83-'89 has the totally opposite effect...
  11. Whats the chances of getting Laura to wear something red and yellow next time she's on the telly? A surreptitious wee thistle on her lapel? I'm sure she could slip something in as part of the celebration...it would be great, and it would be our dirty, wee secret!
  12. Right Poppets, play nice now. This is Bounty end in tears once the forum police get involved. You know how they dislike these puns.
  13. "Two banks of four strung across the middle, so it's hard to break them down/find a way through". Phuxsake.
  14. Lol...I saw the title of the thread and eagerly pressed the button ready to write these very words. Little did I know it would be the thread opener! Did Jamie Redknapps use of it tonight put you over the edge? Since you took my first choice, I'll go with my second: "He's far enough out to get it up and over".
  15. Jesus, all these picture from the dreadful 80's ain't doing me any good! Horrible time to be a Jags fan, even seeing the names on the line ups gives me nightmares. Can you not skip the mid eighties photies and get on to the early 90's asap...even return to the 70's!
  16. Felt sorry for him not getting a start recently, but if really tweeted that? No respect for manager or fans, he knew what the reaction would be given the way our form has been recently. Time to roll the sleeves up you twat, not act like a cnut.
  17. Well said Sir. Top scorer for the club in each of the five years he was with us, and one of the most feared forwards in the top league in Scotland in the late seventies. Even after his perplexing transfer to St. Midden, he continued to be their top scorer of each of the 3 years he was with them as well, once again in the top league. Subsequent moves to Hamilton and Montrose? Yes, top scorer for these teams each season he was there as well, albeit at a lower level but his work commitment meant he was happy to play part time. It was a crime that we even thought about taking cash from St Midden for him, but it was thought at the time that Beastie Macadam was a good replacement. He done a job for a couple of years, but was never in Dougie's league. Somners transfer was the catalyst for the woeful eighties and, I would argue, our 30 years in the wilderness. I'm still scarred and bitter. The Sons of Somner (Lanark Chapter) will continue to fight to ensure that those responsible for Somner's transfer will be brought to justice.
