  1. Broadly agree with that. If Welsh is fit (and Stevo is back to fitness and playing attaching centre-mid) then we would have Osman, Bannigan, Fraser and Welsh competing for two midfield roles. If so then I'd get Wilson out to a Championship team for the first half of the season and see how he does with a regular run of competitive games.
  2. It's clear from this thread that people aren't happy that kids only go free in a certain section of the ground - should probably just scrap the whole thing to be honest...
  3. Agree - right-back, winger and forward needed as a minimum. Interested by Archie's "less quantity, more quality" comment - of those three players I imagine one would be Taylor, while we won't get a better RB than SOD. So that leaves a better winger than Higgy (apparently we've offered Vigurs a deal) plus any others Archie feels are required.
  4. Nor Eccleston. However great article and good to see the continuing professionalisation of the club!
  5. I'm sure I read somewhere that the average cost of a seat in a basic stand is £90 while a rail seat is £125. The figures may be out but they were definitely more expensive.
  6. In an ideal world we'd make a replica of the North Stand at the City End and make them both safe standing. Probably make them both a bit smaller and slightly elevated (like at Accies) too. And then we could redevelop the Main Stand into a stand like at Dumbarton only with more/better internal facilities. Capacity of around 11k; 8k seated and 3k standing. And it would look cool and lend itself to sensible segregation. All we need is someone with a few spare million who thinks the best use of it is to invest in seats no one will sit in and terracing no one will stand at.
  7. With the changes announced this season there are no plans for away supporters in the NS. Until the board change their mind again of course...
  8. Not entirely related but rather than more flags we should fundraise to have the guy who painted the South Drive do some work in the North Stand concourse. Or get murals for the North Stand windbreakers, like Falkirk have.
  9. Archie found Higgy to replace Erskine. He'll find someone to replace Higgy. McDaid will be around the squad too.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we've had a standard Joma template home top yet, have we? So I don't see why we'd expect one now...
  11. I've not bought a Joma top but you can peel the sponsor off? I really liked how the Puma tops had the sponsor integrated into the material design - was very professional looking (and they were designed to look good on the kit too...)
  12. Carmichael is the type of player we should be going for - young and could develop significantly. However pretty sure there'd be a hefty development fee involved. My only disappointment in the last couple of years is that we appear to have stopped looking for up-and-coming players in the Scottish lower leagues - i.e. Sinclair, Paton, Cairney and to a different extent Erskine, Doolan and Craigen. I understand that the step up to Premiership is much more than Championship but we may be missing a trick here, especially on our budget. Dundee appear to be an example of doing it right.
  13. In a post full of good points I'd highlight the above - it's really important that the club clearly states that the North Stand is for standing; otherwise it could cause a lot of issues when people are in the ground.
  14. I recall back in the days of the jester kit we displayed it at half time during the final home game of the season - I'm pretty sure I bought it at the end of the game before leaving the stadium. Our last home game of the season should be an occasion to get people fired up for the following season - ideally the team should wear next seasons kit and it should be on sale, ST's should be launched...of course a lot of this would only be really effective if the team didn't collapse to a shocking defeat in said game. Still, surely the club should be using that occasion as an excellent selling/marketing occasion?
  15. I agree with it but then I would; I go to the NS. But I can remember how annoyed I've been in the last two years so respect any JH attendee who are equally as annoyed about this. They've used the 62% attendance stat to justify this move - in that case I think it also justifies offering a non-OF game Season Ticket.
  16. Beattie is the best chairman we've had in my time supporting Thistle. Sure, the bar's not been set particularly high; however it's worth remembering that before choosing every opportunity to badmouth him.
  17. On the Tory vote it's interesting that it held up in spite of rumoured "tactical voting" - given that most Tory voters know the vote is wasted when they cast it. The UK should copy what Holyrood does - much better for electoral enfranchisement, even if it would mean some more people I don't like would get into parliament too...
  18. He was at Falkirk this year - doubt he's bothered by plastic. Not sure Scully's ready yet (might need a season at Championship level) but would like to see him given a chance. If Hibs don't go up Cerny will probably be available; otherwise I'm sure there are plenty of decent goalies in the English lower leagues.
  19. I'm not sure Fox can do much better than us - interesting if true. Far from irreplaceable.
  20. Echo what others have said - he's stupid as the rules are clear but as long as he didn't bet against us I don't really care. Hopefully it's just stupidity and he doesn't have a wider gambling problem - however if so I'm sure the club would support him.
  21. That really is a stunning record for your first 16 games in management, never mind the additional pressure of trying to win the league. Doubt many have done better.
