  1. This is absolutely bang on. Away gates shouldn't be coming into our thoughts when trying to increase attendences. Its all about enticing Thistle fans back to Firhill. I don't want us to focus on encouraging teams like Hearts, Aberdeen etc to bring more fans because its pointless. We should be encouraging lapsed Thistle fans to come to Firhill, buy season tickets, invest money into the club by any means necessary. The club have so far made some encouraging signs but then when they either don't work, or get a bit difficult, they just patch them (see TAG). I hope the club were asking why people weren't renewing season tickets when they were phoning them and collating the information to act upon it to see if they could still get these people through the gate on a regular basis, rather than just saying "okay, thanks anyway" and that being that.
  2. Agreed 100%, but it doesn't help when refs do not punish these sorts of blatant fouls, particularly it seems against us. I'm not crying conspiracy, but Thistle have had absolutely no luck with these sorts of decisions since we've come up. We are nowhere near the dirtiest team in the league, yet on paper it would look like we are.
  3. Liam Lindsay gets (rightfully) sent off as he's the last man, however Higginbotham and Stevie Smith stay on the park despite numerous blatant elbows/horrible tackles. Mark Connolly is a horrible player as well. When he wasn't hoofing the ball into touch, he was all over our players either going over the top of them or scything them down. Killie are an absolutely terrible team with very little actual footballing ability. They will win points just like they did against us by hacking teams for 90 minutes and giving the ball to Higgy who'll pump it in the box for Boyd. Thank **** I don't have to watch that every week.
  4. What irked me most was that it had to be the Higgy Show, just like it was when he was with us. Totally summed it up when he applauded all three ends of the crowd at the end. No need, especially when he had been booed for the majority of the game. There is a very, very good player there when he can screw the nut, but for 75% of his time with us he didn't. Yes, was the difference between Killie getting one point instead of nothing from the game, but I am still in no way bothered that he is no longer with us.
  5. 2/3 years ago I would never have said this but Elliott being out is a massive loss for us. I've not been too convinced with Miller thus far and thought that Elliott showed promise whenever he played in either of the full-back positions. Think that's cemented the fact that we need to bring in a right/left/both full-back.
  6. As far as I know, if you have an existing fan card from the last two seasons, you need to get a new card, as opposed to loading them on to the one you have previously, as you would be purchasing future games for £20 as opposed to £22. I would phone the office and double-check that though.
  7. Will anyone actually be adhering to this? I have a seat about 5 rows away from my mate who I go to the games with and I was under the assumption that everyone was just going to do the normal North Stand thing of standing where you want.
  8. It's a fact. Police Scotland have stated previously that the club are not allowed to give Celtic the main stand due to health and safety risks.
  9. There should be no Celtic fans whatsoever in there. They will all be housed in the Jackie Husband stand. Celtic don't appear to have sold out their allocation as of yet anyway.
  10. Falkirk or Dunfermline would be the hardest possible draws for us, in my opinion.
  11. Tickets onsale now. Including the launch of a new fan card, which is essentially a Pay at the gate season ticket. Saving £2 on every game added to it. Decent idea for those adamant that they're not going to buy a season ticket.
  12. This. We all know what that scum are like, but since the "singing section" (for lack of a better phrase) will be right next to their whole support and tightly packed, we should all be making the effort to go all out and give the team our full support. I will consider it a failure if I don't leave Firhill with no voice.
  13. We do have a real creator in Stevie Lawless, I don't think anyone could dispute that, and judging on preseason games and the amount of quality crosses that he put into the box, David Amoo looks like he'll be one as well. We also have a goal scorer in Kris Doolan. Although I do agree that we need another striker, Doolan is a proven goalscorer and he is more than capable of leading the line until, and including when, we get another striker in.
  14. Purely speculation and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the impression I got was that the player in question could be Islam Feruz. When Nixon said that the player didn't want to go in the "best interests of his own safety", and the fact that it was a Scotland under-20 international (although I don't know if he's played at that level), made me think it might be him due to him being renowned for winding up both sides of the Old Firm. Or has it been established already that its Harper/Johnstone that he was talking about?
  15. Potty trained summed up everything I would've wanted to know. If you're going to ask all those questions then I'll definitely be going to it. Was planning on avoiding this simply because I was expecting every second question to be "Why didn't we sign Lyle Taylor?" or "Did we have a backup plan for not signing Lyle Taylor?" or something else Lyle Taylor-related.
  16. Pascali got released at the end of last season. Signed for some Italian lower division team as far as I know. Killie have made a couple of good signings, but their squad is still largely dreadful. I'd imagine they will finish top of the bottom six though.
  17. ET Link for those that are interested: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/13364037.Partick_Thistle_sign_former_Liverpool_kid_Amoo/
  18. This street traders license argument is ridiculous. I would like to think the club enquired about this when they asked permission to launch at George Square. Far easier to hold an event in George Square for a couple of hours (max) than applying for street traders licenses. I daresay that if people want to buy the strip, they will. I doubt very many people would decide to spend £40 on a Thistle top off the cuff just because a bunch of folk and a guy in a creepy suit are parading about with it. The biggest potential loss would be Kingsley tshirts, but I'm assuming/hoping flyers or the like will be made and handed out during it.
  19. I have just done the same. Had a season ticket our first season in SPFLPFLPLFL but didn't renew last year. Bought a season ticket last week and unable to use it. The office replied to me within 24 hours when I made an enquiry about buying a season ticket, a lot longer now that I've bought one and asked about a benefit of what I have just purchased. Funny that...
  20. Reading on P&B that we're signing former Accies keeper Tomas Cerny. Interesting one that. Perhaps means that we'll see either Scully left to fight it with him for the gloves and Gallacher third choice or solely GK coach or Scully gets loaned out to a first division team.
  21. A point would be massive here if we can hold on with Motherwell and County winning.
  22. Defensively Elliott offered nothing, but going forward I thought he caused Matthews an awful lot of problems, he'd have been delighted to see him substituted.
  23. I agree with The Cup to a large extent. I didn't expect to beat Celtic last night, however when I had paid £25 to watch our players not give a ****, I think I have every right to be aggrieved. The last few weeks Thistle have started doing that punt the ball forward for kickoff and it has never worked. Not for any team, ever. That led to a goal last night because we cheaply conceded possession to a half-decent team and after that the players didn't look arsed in the slightest. McDaid and Elliott got pass marks for wanting the ball and looking a threat, Elliott in particular had Matthews in his back pocket all game, Taylor tried on the few occasions he got anywhere near the ball, but apart from that I have never seen a Thistle team look so uninspired.
  24. Take it the Main Stand is just stand where you want, like the North Stand tonight?
