No. What I am pointing out is that the management don't have other players lined up as some previous posts suggest. My own view is that I am not to bothered about Freddie moving on but would like to have kept Gary miller on the basis that he would get as much of an opportunity to fight for a starting place just like everyone else. As soon as he was freed from st johnstone last year I was one of first to say we should sign him. Real pro who can cover a number of positions and who hasn't let us down.

I don't fall for this cant guarantee a starting place stuff. No player at thistle is guaranteed a starting place. In defence certainly wasn't the case last year. On the basis of your point we now need to bring in 4 central defender and cover for right back. That's a lot of new players to bring into a defence if Freddie and Gary were only to be cover players

Archie obviously doesn't have a plan as he offered both Fred and Gary contracts. if he had better players lined up he wouldn't have offered them even a one year deal. He will need a plan now though.

Gonna be hard for killie to offload kallum and Conrad given they both have a other 2 years to run on contracts and will be on fairly big wages. I think a few others on frees were also given 3 year deals.

Knees injury,s can be career threatening and it could well put a lot of clubs off him. Got to say this is the risk players take by not singing contract offers and waiting for a move- when he got the injury that's exactly what went through my head. Going to be an interesting situation as it unfolds and how the club reacts if brannigan wants to stay. Big shame for the lad.

For me this is one of the best thistle teams since I started supporting over 25 years ago. I really do believe that we have the opportunity to finish as high in the league as we have ever done. The opportunity with our games in hand and relatively injury free squad is there for us to take it. The next three games against the top three sides followed by games against the bottom three. If we can take something off Hearts tomorrow I'm confident we can pick up points at home to Aberdeen and Celtic. Both of them are going to be a bit nervous in terms of chasing the title and will be not be looking forward to coming to Firhill. We' got a point at Aberdeen recently and we for much of the game were a match for Celtic at parkhead. The way the league has shaped up this year we will never have a better chance of top four . They CAN become heros.

Tragic if lawless goes to utd. One of our best performers this season and we need players like him to create things. Wouldn't do the deal even it it meant erskine coming at end of month back down the road. If utd really want him for next season they should sign him on pre contract or shut up. Don't think we should panic if we don't get another striker. Last season in the 23 games we played until Lyle Taylor came back we scored something like 32 goals. In the remaining 16 games after he arrived we scored around 16 goals. thems the facts - roughly

Good move for Ross county- getting a decent keeper far better than their current one. I'm sorry to see him go as he has been pretty solid over the 130 games he has played. In the promotion season I thought he was excellent and won a lot of points with some great saves in tight games. I reckon he really wanted a two year deal . Jimmy was released because Archie has Been told to trim the squad numbers and has had to make some difficult calls. I am sure he would have preferred to keep him. No offer would have therefore been made to extend his contract. I reckon squad numbers will be made up by younger players on considerably smaller wages with some current contract extensions being made on slightly improved offers eg. Abdul and booth. Making funds available to pay wages of a good striker will also be the priority for the management team. To do that will require sacrifice in other areas.
