  1. When the Jags go up to lift the Scottish Cup, we'll be dead, we'll be dead........ Only joking - we'll get it next year. Aberdeen were absolute gash today; unfortunately, we were even worse. It's a shame we couldn't produce a performance when our opponents were there for the taking. Back to high standards against ICT next weekend, please.
  2. Beattie's management skills have certainly improved since this fiasco:
  3. Scarf arrived this morning. Cracking. Looking forward to swinging it around my head when Dools bangs in his hundredth.....
  4. Payment sent for one scarf. They look great.
  5. I urge all Jags fans at a loose end to give some support to their local Junior side, whoever that may be - but especially if it's Petershill.
  6. Winning this game could be a big deal for us. If Killie manage no better than a draw at Tynecastle on Friday (entirely possible), and Ross County manage no better than a draw at Parkhead on Saturday (highly likely), we go 6th in the table if we beat Dundee. Take some confidence from that into the game against Killie on New Year's Eve, and a win puts some cement into the top six placing. With no league action until late January, we'd sit unassailed in the top six for the best part of a month.
  7. What a difference 15 minutes makes! 80 minutes into that game we were on three points - 15 minutes later, none. If we had held out for the win we would be sitting in 6th rather than 12th place at the moment. This is frustrating, but underlines just how tight this division is outside the top five places. That result hurts like hell, but did I really think this was going to be the first season in decades of following the Jags that would be devoid of a few kicks in the teeth? We're in a seven-way scrap to avoid the bottom two places, and on what I've seen of us and the others around us so far, I think we're going to be fine.
  8. Hope this situation resolves in your favour Rab. I wish you and your family all the best.
  9. My mum's brother's wife's brother's son is Bobby Houston. Only five degrees.
  10. I have horrible memories of Carmichael having ATS well and truly in his back pocket during the Challenge Cup Final. He had a brilliant game that day but I haven't seen him play since.
  11. Not claiming superior medical knowledge, Ian. But there is a reason for a medical prognosis being called a prognosis, rather than being called "the future". 'Mon the Jags.
  12. No-one hopes any more than I do that Bannigan's knee issue resolves, and that he comes back into the team as fit and brilliant as he was before. I don't have a crystal ball, but then neither do the medical staff at Firhill. The fact of the matter is we have just committed to paying wages, for 2 years, to a player who, at this moment in time, is not guaranteed to be able to return to playing at the level he was playing at before. If that could have been guaranteed, I believe Bannigan would be signed up for someone else right now - but the interest from other clubs seems to have waned. I wonder about that. As I said, I want this to work out just as much as anybody else. Maybe I'm just being a bit glass-half-empty about it. But we are taking a punt here.
  13. “At least I'm active and doing some running to keep my fitness up, but it’s just twisting and turning that is proving difficult, and obviously that is fundamental in football. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long, but I don’t think it will be in the coming weeks anyway." Banzo's a good lad and all that, but I'm struggling to get excited about us signing up a player who has a busted knee.
  14. LIB, have you alerted Maxi to this?
  15. Christie's performance against St Johnstone was an absolute joy to watch. As Lady Isobel points out, his close control was top notch. His pace was blistering, and his work rate was the full 100% that footballers often talk about but rarely deliver. Over 24 hours later and I'm still smiling like a Cheshire cat... Brilliant stuff.
  16. "Echo Beach" by Martha & The Muffins? "Peaches" by the Stranglers?
  17. Given the amount of sand on our pitch at the moment, may I suggest "Do the Strand" by Roxy Music.
  18. http://ptfc.co.uk/ne...tract_extension
  19. My favourite Cerny save for us. Looks good from the first angle, but unbelievable from the second - he's unsighted for about half of the ball's travel. Outstanding goalkeeper. Another fantastic piece of news for Jags fans.
  20. Fantastic player. Model professional. Brilliant, brilliant news. Thank-you Kris Doolan.
  21. Last time I responded on a thread like this, I suggested we should try to sign Liam Boyce from Cliftonville... Don't do other clubs' scouting for them - threads like this are only good for selling red herrings.
  22. In complete agreement with the above posts - the audio commentary is an excellent development. Well done and thanks to all concerned.
  23. Yes, I thought the style of McParland's shirt collar might be too old for it to be Symon era.
