  1. Think you mean Scott Wright, fast tricky winger scored hat trick against us in final of top 6 season. He would definitely improve our team
  2. Caldwell has better record in England than Neilson, therefore think it’s worth giving him a chance. He hasn’t managed in Scotland which may be no bad thing. We are not going to recruit a manager who has been successful at every club they have managed, they don’t exist. I don’t want us to recruit the manager merry go round of Scottish media luvvies, lets go a bit left field in the true Thistle way
  3. I think we are being naive to think there would be any chance of him coming to us. Prior to taking Livvy job both Hibs and Aberdeen had been in discussion to sign him, so don’t think we will be anywhere near the front of the que for his services. If it were possible to get him, he would be a great signing, goal scorer, bit of leadership and a player who will be in the faces of referees when we need it.
  4. Archie on Jagzone interview confirming Coulibaly in to train and for Archie et al to establish if he would fit in to the squad. It wasn’t a “we are just giving him training facilities “ statement. From that I can only assume that the fine he was due to pay the Egyptian team or whatever you want to call it has perhaps been sorted.
  5. Great win and solid performance last night, Mtombo played very well, tricky player who will cause teams problems, granted opposition wasn't great but you could see he is the type who wants to go past players. Melbourne also very comfortable and good to see us having a semi decent bench last night.
  6. I have always been a supporter of Archie, however he needs to go, not just because of yesterday’s performance but for the steady deterioration of the team in the last year. We have been on a downward slide since the start of last season including not playing particularly attractive football. I would hate for Archie to get hounded out by disgruntled fans, particularly after what he has done for the club in the past therefore the board need to act now and relieve him of his duties before things go really sour. Another couple of performances like yesterday will be the final straw. Hopkins and Neilson are both currently available, use the Celtic cup money as part of the package to entice either of them to take over
  7. Don Cowie told he can leave Hearts for free. He is the type of player we need. Experienced (35), leader on the park and can play a few positions. Don’t imagine we will get him though, County apparently favourites.
  8. I would give them JHS and North or Main stand, given that we tend to not attend the OF games in big numbers and maximise the income it could be the difference in wages for a decent striker. Losing to Celtic will not shatter our confidence giving that we are not expected to win, playing away to Dunfermline in next round and losing heavily would be more likely to affect confidence
  9. A lot of positives from today, O’Ware and McGinty excellent no nonsense CB’s who will also be a threat at set pieces. Slater looks good excellent on the ball and great delivery. Banzo excellent, forgot what he does for the team and lots of composure streets ahead of Edwards today. Think Storer could become a cult hero good creative player as well as putting it about a bit, one crunching but fair tackle today had the ref telling him to calm down. We definitely need some fire power though, Dools our only out and out striker.
  10. Was at the Killie game the other night, because my son was doing some DJ work at the game. Caulker was a huge threat at set pieces, not so much defensively. My take is that we need to play 3 at the back because Dundee went with Murray and Moussa as a 2 up front and several times Murray's pace took him in behind the defence, therefore we need Barton in there sweeping up behind CB's. The only other threat was McGowan (much as I don't like saying it), he was excellent and any danger Dundee posed was via his creativity. I think we have enough in our squad, particularly if you look at my proposed team and subs, to win on Saturday but it won't be a canter. I Team today Czerny Dumbaya Devine Barton Cargill Booth Woods Osman Edwards Salmon Storey Subs Doolan, Erskine, Lawless, Penrice, Keown Spittal, Scully
  11. The club are already looking into this. Had agreed to approach County if we didn't get to QF of cup. It makes sense and good to see the club being pro-active, although as mentioned previously it wouldn't surprise me if the SPFL come up with some obscure reason not to allow it.
  12. I thought we managed the game fairly well and a draw was a fair result. What was most pleasing was the organization on the park from Osman, Barton and Woods. We are beginning to look like the team we were post x/mas last season with a lot of resilience and energy. If we can pick up 12 points between now and the split we will be fine.
  13. Midfield way too lightweight even when Osmans playing. We lack a Darian McKinnon type player in the middle of the park to snap at players and generally be a dirty bstrd. Bannigan shambles for the penalty absolutely no danger and no need to push him. Going in 2-1 up makes the second half a completely different contest.
  14. I doubt we will sign anyone else, the down side of having a big competitive squad is keeping players happy who are not involved every week. Tried to work out a best starting 11 if everyone, including Dumbaya and Fraser are fit, and its really difficult, and regardless of which system we play, some good players are on the bench. Good problem to have though.
  15. Some of our fans on here need to calm down. Unlike a lot of other teams we haven't had to rebuild in the close season and Archie is right to wait until he gets the most appropriate players in. I agree a left sided CB should be priority before a striker. Archie also said in his after match interview on BT that his preferred formation this season is 4-2-3-1, which throws up quite a few selection headaches for him. If we bring another CB in where does Barton play? as one of the 2 holding (ahead of Osman and Bannigan)? When Keown is fit we have an ample squad to see us through the next few weeks, we have lost Welsh and Amoo and replaced with Bannigan and Spittal which is an upgrade. We knew we were losing Lindsay, so getting Keown back in is a plus as is Cerny signing a contract extension. So let's chill for a bit and see what Archie does over the coming weeks, in the meantime there is no need to panic.
  16. Disagree we need a proper RB, Elliott has played well there up to now, I wouldn't want to waste money on a stop gap RB when we already have one.
  17. Archie said in BT interview that his preferred formation was 4-2-3-1, which is fine, however it does give him selection headaches (which is good), in that assuming Osman hadn't been sent off on Sat, if you bring Keown back into the team who would you leave out of Saturday's team?
  18. Archie mentioned in his Livvy post match interview, that he could go out and bring in a journeyman CB to get us through the Betfrd Cup but he didn't want to do that, which I can understand. We need players in who can compete in a tough Premier League this season and I would rather wait than rush in and sign a stopgap player who struggles in PL. I am as frustrated as everyone 're lack of signings, however I think possibly after Aberdeen's 2nd leg tomorrow we may see some movement on Storey, which would help and if we get Keown fit as well then things would look an awful lot more positive.
  19. McDonald would be a good signing, for his experience alone, but also for his tenacity he never gives up , is an annoying we shite and gets a larger than normal amount of 50/50 decisions. I think we are a bit too nice as a team and could do with someone like McDonald in our team.
  20. I would go as far to say he is probably our most important player. Superb news
  21. O'Halloran would be a great signing, bringing a bit of much needed pace up front. There will be a few clubs after him though, main competition being St J.
  22. Was thinking this myself, LT was being linked with Grimsby a few weeks ago, he is in final year of his contract so who knows, maybe a fee would tempt him and AFC W
  23. Ade, away to Cambridge for an undisclosed fee
  24. With the fixtures for the new season out tomorrow, I am hoping for a relatively easy start with preferred first 4 games being Dundee H, Accies A, County H and Killie A
  25. He is under contract until June 2018, so a year loan deal would seem the best option, with a view to discussing a permanent move come Jan
