  1. must hand it to morton and their fans tonight (especially first half) great atmosphere end to end football in the first half we were fortunate (imho) to go in 2 up at half time great second half by the jags at long last we have real pace in the team especially up front as the game wore on you could physically see the morton defenders wilting under the sustained pressure of course we made mistakes but every player got stuck right in agree with previous poster we cant head the ball for peanuts only sinclair was winning his share of headers however great result great team performance and great atmosphere happy days well done lads onwards and upwards
  2. interesting to find out what "rent" the warriors will be paying for the use of the toytown stadium
  3. so long ago cant remember just know there was a warm glow inside and i knew that i was home cant stay away
  4. thought archie was back to his best yesterday pity about the recurring injury problem read managers after match comments maybe we have seen the best of archie hope not
  5. does this mean that the OF have now prequalified for next seasons challenge cup aka ra diddy cup ?
  6. if i remember jim baxter stood on his right peg and kicked ra baw with his left one footed or two footed its what you do with the ball paton for me has a lot still to offer maybe this signing will give him the proverbial left boot up the a*** onwards and upwards
  7. fair comment about robertson today game passed him back 4 i think for robbo (or centre forward ) as for cairney couln't disagree more as i've said previously cairney reminds me of ronnie glavin glavin wasn't fast ;he was hard in the tackle not afraid to push forward or have a poke at goal cairney will come good for us lets get behind this lad play cairney centre midfield
  8. so if he does sign do we go 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 and what about mccann is he signing
  9. disagree about robertson i think he has a place in our back 4 early days jackie still to settle on formation etc
  10. played well today always a threat always in the face of the opposition i would take him in a flash unfortunately we cant afford him
  11. surely not mccall wasn't the best nor was he the worst
  12. my thoughts fox -- looked out of sorts today he appearsed to have the ball to hand but somehow drops into net paton-- sooo frustrating he gets most of the ball coming out of defence but 9 times out of 10 nothing comes of it sinclair -- def the find of the season so far ; makes mistakes but always trying to push forward; be snapped up at end of season archie & balatoni -- thought a bit suspect today, bit indicisive and too slow on the turn rowson -- covered every blade of grass today; had a few chances as well robertson -- game seemed to pass him by ; although put in a few good tackles imho not a midfield player too slow on the turn flannigan -- has some good touches clever on the ball but no real dig in midfield stewart -- not an out and out centre forward type rarely in the right position at the right time doolan -- everywhere today only really started to get a bit of space and support when elliott came on cairney -- not the most technically gifted player at firhill but he would be the first name on the timesheet playing at CENTRE MIDFIELD not out on the left elliott -- same as sinclair could be a real find this season took his goal well, fast, direct i'm sure elliott and doolan could be a real threat this season overall players tried hard, hamilton slightly edged it,first half we were all over the place onwards and upwards
  13. for what its worth dont think doolan and stewart works up front similar type of player but doolan that bit sharper here's a thought we are screaming out for a BIG centre forward that can win a few high balls coming from defence grehan is not the answer watched the lad robertson on saturday he's not the quickest but he certainly puts himself about dare i say it he reminds me a bit like colin macadam why not ?? dungdee's no 5 strolled through the game on saturday and please play cairney centre midfield never a pen fox to me is one of the better keepers i've seen at firhill the young left back is a stoater he wont be at firhill for long rowson by far and away the best footballer on the park on saturday his technique, fitness must be an inspiration to the rest of the team there i feel a bit better now
  14. thats right celtic played their new goalkeeper connaghan from st midden dont think bone was playing was in the shed right in line with celtic goal connaghan was s******g himself every time we crossed the halfway line i remember before they scored we had a couple of efforts at goal connaghan was diving the wrong way the ball hitting him on the legs 2 of their goals came from corners big roughie waving to the fans in the shed as the ball came over -- great shot stopper though the midweek aberdeen game at pittodrie i heard that the team was still suffering from the victory "celebrations"
  15. tommy ewing 2 memories of tommy back in the sixties that always come to mind first one cant remember opposition at firhill but tommy took a severe head knock blood pouring down his face went off, no subs in them days, down the tunnel with the doc within couple of minutes back on, head covered in bandaging blood still streaming down his face played on till final whistle other incident playing rangers at firhill at new year time drawing one each going into the last few minutes joe hogan who was playing up front that day had scored our goal we were all making our way to the exit at the bing end near the main stand jags are awarded a penalty right in front of the jags support joe hogan has the ball, tommy takes the ball off joe and puts the spot kick a good yard passed the right hand post the air was blue that night and it wasn't the rangers fans
  16. had to respond to this i thought cairney was our best player today ok he makes mistakes, makes a bad pass now and again, but he never hides he covers every blade of grass, always willing to make a forward run, fights for every ball, never hides thats the player we need at firhill as i have said a long time ago he reminds me of ronnie glavin playing with better players this lad would be a thistle star as for today morton played with 2 up front we play with 5 yes 5 at the back we are playing a team that we have to beat, we are playing at home, we have no width in the team both fullbacks didnt push forward thought paton and boyle very poor today i feel we give too many teams too much respect especially at home you could see the confidence slowly rising in the opposition as the game progressed today, as you could also see the fear factor increase in the thistle ranks as the game went into the later stages did their keeper have a shot to save today?? really really disappointing display today mr mccall morton were there for the taking ps i know a lot of us think that hodge is not worth the jersey but he at least can use both feet can make a pass and appears to have a football brain there i feel a bit better now
  17. agree with above administration = relegation lets keep it simple
  18. should have been relegation nothing less
  19. i think we are all being a bit too eager to criticise buchanan he is certainly not 100% fit and is seriously lacking in confidence like most of the team he is a goal scorer (oh yes he is) lets encourage him when he is on the pitch the goals will come
  20. we are what we are its so easy to follow the numpties from you know where i have always believed that we are the "chosen ones" we are and have always been a kindred spirit its been us against the rest firhill to me has always been "home" so whether it be buchanan or johnstone or somner or mcparland or who ever partick thistle will always be the team for me so tomorrow lets get behind the team win lose or draw thistle is in our blood you know it and i know it!
  21. hey i was at hampden this week & that was the most inept performance that i have ever seen in a scotland performance ever|
  22. full time part time who gives a toss? tomorrow, this will be my first game this season have been following the harry wraggs the jolly jags for so long so much negativity on this this forum for gods sake we are ra thistle lets get behind the team ok if paton cant kick his ass with his left foot what about roy aitken he couldhn't kick his left bollock how many caps for scotland? lets get behind the team and the manager imho we do have quality players cairney, buchanan, rowson, archie its all about skill/ability but most of its about confidence a blind man can see that this season the players lack confidence lets get behind the team tomorrow we are ptfc
  23. it's a no brainer liam and doolan up front trust me pace and skill y canny whack it
