  1. That is great news for the players and the club. Club being recognised for putting their faith in youth and training the boys well and the players will get a boost playing with quality of their own age and experiencing different training and conditioning methods while hopefully playing against foreign opposition.
  2. LMJ you crack me up. I doth my cap to you for your support of the club but you need to relax over your childphobia. I for one wont be in the singing section as I like to rustle my sweetie papers and fold, unfold and then fold my tartan rug. Also I wouldn't want my kids in a singing section if I was a Dad as it would be noisy for them and they wont be able to see with people standing up so I think everyone will get seats where they want. It's a Cup Final. Let's all enjoy this.
  3. I'm booked up. Will either get supporters bus if there is space as obviously the regulars should get first dibs or see if somewhere like Brass Monkey running a bus.
  4. Archie has done a lot better than I expected when he came in. I also respect his attitude when it comes to fitness, he's a total machine, and also changing his game and learning from Jackie and Sid. However he should have his coaching hat on and realised the future is Balatoni and Muirhead and allow them to play together when they can.
  5. There's a repot on him in today's "Herald". Good spot by Pressley and they deserve to cash in and get some money for him.
  6. Yep it's all going well. I was thinking about taking my neice and nephew along soon although I think the Kids zone is too close to the Away fans and North Stand. Think it would be better if it was further along to the City end. Takes them out of ear shot and also more space so they can run around and have a bit of a wander when they get bored. You could have that properly sectioned off, just with tape, and then have more interaction with Jaggy MacB, designated Kids Zone stewards etc.
  7. I'm regularly pottering around Port Dundas popping into local shops for candles, hummus and sporting goods. It's a lovely spot to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon and then going for a skinny latte.
  8. I missed the game on Saturday. Gutted. But from some discussion I have to say I do get disenchanted with a lot of our support. I find the negativity of many Thistle fans quite high and of course the boo boys are always louder than the people who appreciate the players. O'Donnel, Erskine, Forbes are all great players with skill, intelligence and potential. They are not the usual Division One journey men rockets looking out to kick people and spoil the game. They should be appreciated and encouraged when things don't work out for them. I pay money to watch them.
  9. The 16 - 10 - 16 was attractive to me as I thought it would allow the Top 16 teams to support the bottom 16 by loaning out players. Remove the reserve league and have the teams playing in the bottom league with players loaned out there to develop in competitive games. Then have an U21 league with overage players to keep their fitness up.
  10. Why was Levein a "Yes" man? He picked the team and formation and made his own mistakes. The SFA have done a lot in terms of changing their governance and youth work including regional centres of excellence led by Mark Wotte which should be recognised and not blurred by other issues like "Armageddon". I thought Levein appointment was a good thing. I was proven very wrong and have a disappointing trip to Wales and half a Hampden season ticket remaining as punishment.
  11. Hope this is not stepping on anyones toes but and I appreciate organising the teams will be the main area for yourselves but after attending last year I was thinking the below would benefit the event. 1) Book Stall. 2nd hand football/sports books. I've got about 10 I could donate read once in good nick. £3 each or so a book and it would add up. 2) Farmers Market. Stalls in Queens Park and Partick are always very popular. They could give a donation to sell their food. Also gives more options to people attending and maybe attract others who would not normally come. 3) Guided tours of the stadium led by club officials.
  12. I think the onethistle and Shed boys and girls are on the right track and long may it continue. When I read things like the below link I can tell it's from the fans and from the heart. I'm 34 years old sitting in an office and right now I want to get on my Thistle top and go kick a football outside like a kid. http://ptfc.co.uk/news/2012-2013/january_2013/we_believe_an_open_letter_from_the_firhill_shed Also with the rearranged league games a 9 Game ticket package is still available. Even if you know you can't make all the games buying this would give the club more money and Jackie the option to bring in a player or maybe 2. We're not like Rangers or Celtic with money to burn and loads of "stay at home" fans. Every pound and every bum on seat counts. Steve Craig and Ross Forbes are the most recent acquisitions and they have definitely improved the quality of the squad. http://ptfc.co.uk/fans/any_game
  13. He doesn't have any money to bring anyone in. That is the problem.
  14. No. Hence the quotation mark thingymabobs. I think the Junior setup is far better than Div 3 (excludng the Rangers factor) and 2 in lower leagues. Works well. Local clubs. Guys playing football. Big rivalries all within close travelling distance. One thing I would do though with Juniors is take away their voting power in the SFA.
  15. I really do think you would struggle to find any Junior teams who want to "step up" to Division 3. Spartans etc would like to but they are classed as senior in the East of Scotland league.
  16. Most clubs in Div 2 and Div 3 get home attendances of 3 figures with the exception of Rangers and Ayr Utd. Even Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton in our league struggle to get 4 figure crowds. I'm not saying these teams should fold. The should continue but in a setup and format which suits them and others. I was crazy that David Will of Brechin City was so high up in UEFA or FIFA. These clubs are there for their fans but they don't actually contribute a lot ot improving Scottish football or bringing through youth and improving technique in the current state and the dedication the players must have to work, play part-time and travel all over the place is not efficient use of resources. Junior teams are happy in their own setup they would not want to join a pyramid. Why would Pollok want to go and play Peterhead? They are better off with Arthurlie and Kilwinning.
  17. Ha ha! When I'm drunk I only tell men I love them. "Your ma besht pal".
  18. I liked the 16-10-16 SFL proposal. Only play each other twice. This season we will have played Dunfermline 5 times. A tad tedious for both teams and they are one of our main challengers. Play offs creates excitement and movement between the leagues. The middle 10 would be exciting as your either up or down a league almost. Top 16 will allow some teams to relax and play proper football and bring in youth. Bottom 16 will have the clubs that have fans in the 3 figure bracket who can be categorised in there with the odd promotion to spice things up. 30 league games. Make up the extra games with a sectional league cup where it could be split into regions to ensure derbies. Dundee/Dundee Utd, Kilmarnock/Ayr Utd, Raith/Dunfermline, Morton/St Mirren. These would be one-off cup game events. It would be a great sell. Smaller teams will also get bigger teams to help their income. The sections can be tweaked every year so different smaller teams get to play some of the bigger boys. Think of the money we would get with games against Rangers and Celtic. Yes their fans smell and they are obsessed with being victims but bums on seats gives Jackie £££££ to spend. Remember Pre-season v a Celtic XI 2 summers back had over 5000 there. Do something like rugby does with a season opener of 2 games in one stadium, Hampden, for smaller teams. Creates another experience, atmosphere and would be marketed as a family fun day with lower prices to encourage fans with profits split between all teams.
  19. From his twitter account Paul Paton works in a gym to supplement his income. When you think about it they really only do part time hours, 3 or 4 hours a day training and then playing games, so having a second job or studying for a career after football is easily done.
  20. I'm bumping this as I'm looking for venues now myself. 80 max but I'm thinking of trimming it to a smaller amount and then having a larger party as I will have to be paying for it myself! Would prefer in Glasgow as been to loads of "out of town" weddings all over the UK. Looking at September/October. This is where the fun stops. Planning is not going to be enjoyable.
  21. Due to the unfortunate and annoying postponement of the Hamilton Accies home game these multi-game packages are still offering good value for fans who want to pay up front to ensure they get a Ramsdens Cup Final ticket and also help Jackie plan and offer extended contracts to players we need to keep. http://ptfc.co.uk/fans/any_game
  22. Yeah I believe I was sitting in the same row as yourself, I saw Sigesige00 chatting to a guy behind him. Can't believe he is actually real. He even had some PTFC merchandise on to add to his multiple sports tops collection.
  23. Airdrie are a terrible team. The number 3 is a horrible player, niggly, nasty and ugly to boot. The majority of the team look like neds and while their goal was well taken instead of going to his own tiny supporters the scorer runs over to noise the Thistle support up. I'm sure he will be out in a pub tonight as the local pest. Everything about their team is negative and something Scottish football needs to move away from. We are not clicking at all. Too many times we tried long balls where we lost the 2nd ball or others which bounced away too fast on the artificial surface. Archie, Sinclair, Bannigan were best of the lot. Doolan was good when he came on. Again Erskine and Lawless just not clicking but kept plugging away and Erskine strike was great.
