  1. Wee survey on the comparative qualities of Sky and BT Scottish Football coverage. Will only take a minute and might make a difference. Cheers.
  2. There's actually an H in there too, McChrystal, so it's 8 consonants.
  3. Bring back Peter Lindau. Not sure I ever saw that man fail to control a throw-in and maintain possession.
  4. Think your first paragraph there answers itself, we were comfortable sitting off them and letting them knock it round in front of us, they were struggling to create much. We then had two half chances from Welsh and Lindsay before they scored and we could have been looking at a well executed game plan. Not sure I see as much in Pogba as others, he's clearly got ability but needs to impose himself on centre halves more, referees won't give him too many easy decisions. Lawless was ok, trying things and creating bits of space but he doesn't have much movement around him. Welsh was really poor and I think we need to roll with Bannigan and Osman as the two sitting midfielders for the Dundee game. We really miss Craigen's energy further up the midfield though. McDaid was ok, he tracks back pretty well for a winger but made a bit of a meal of the clearance for their second (although credit for being there in the first place) and is a young guy coming into a team short of confidence, it's a difficult task. Not a terrible game and again not getting the luck when things aren't going well for us, nowhere near as dismal as some make out.
  5. Cerny Miller Frans Lindsay Booth Welsh Osman Bannigan McDaid Pogba Lawless
  6. Enjoying the spectacle of RM of all people constantly defending the club. That said I generally agree with him. The fact is resources off the pitch are limited due to trying to focus as much on the playing side as possible. It's a very difficult balance to get right when you've got 2,000 supporters. In reality the off field operation is a very small business with a very small but passionate, dedicated and demanding customer base. Some things could always be better but they could also be a lot worse. It's a hellishly tough thing to do and something I would never have the slightest interest in doing myself. Good luck to them.
  7. Archie played Fraser wide left in an U21 game. I can certainly see the logic, we are overstocked in midfield and at the moment Amoo doesn't look like he can cut it. Fraser on the left has the ability to go past people, would be receiving the ball facing the entire pitch so his passing range would be useful, he can cross a ball well and would potentially be able to come inside and offer a goal threat. Will be interesting to see if he tries that experiment again at all.
  8. Last season we scored 8 goals from set pieces, good for 6th in the SPL. Killie interestingly were in first place with 17, without Eremenko there is a lot of pressure on Higginbotham's set pieces.
  9. He's played for us for 4 years and people still can't spell his name!
  10. The problem now is we have an abundance of good quality central midfielders (and a relative lack of quality on the wings). Our personnel reminds me a lot of the Smith/McLeish era Scotland squad, which had a central midfield 3 comprising Fletcher, Brown and usually Hartley/Quashie. McCulloch played left wing in a lot of those games and gave us an excellent out ball as he had a better chance of winning aerial duels against a full back. His deficiencies pace wise were compensated by having three defensively aware central midfielders. I think we should try Stevenson in the McCulloch position with some freedom to come inside. He offers us another out ball (as well as Doolan/Pogba) while hopefully having enough defensive coverage behind him to allow him to attack. I also think Stevenson cutting inside with Booth going outside him could bring us joy down the left flank. I think Lawless is a better player on the right hand side too, on the left he has a slight tendency to get marginalised.
  11. Blows my mind that people bicker amongst their own fans over things like this. The JH is obviously big enough to accommodate everyone. The North Stand is better for generating atmosphere. If the guys who go to the North Stand want to put up with a worse view to create some atmosphere (as opposed to being at the back of the city end JH) then more power to them. When the Celtic games roll round giving them the JH makes sense. Otherwise there is plenty of space in the JH for the majority of the fans while still having a separate family section within that stand. Not sure how anyone is being put out for anything other than the Celtic games.
  12. Sounds like Fraser played on the left with a view to him being able to do that in first team games given that we're somewhat short of cover in that position. Did he look like a viable option there?
  13. Wouldn't worry about that! Where do we send the money?
  14. Watmore then went on to be Barclays U21 player of the year. Would be a great signing but I can't imagine we'll convince Sunderland to let him come to us.
  15. I'll go for £20 too. Is it worth contacting the club to try to reserve the two shirts?
  16. In almost all cases, it's a good negotiating position to hold fire for both club and player. We could bring in a player as a gamble just now, but there will still be a player we can gamble on at the deadline. It makes sense to hold off and give yourself the best chance of grabbing a player who falls into the second category.
  17. It's a tough situation. The longer you leave it the more players are likely to lower their demands and a player you thought you couldn't previously afford comes into your price range. The reality is a lot of clubs are out there hunting for a centre forward who is a sure thing. We're pretty far down the pecking order for these guys when they're choosing their club. That generally means getting lucky signing an unproven player (could be Taylor, could be Eccleston), toughing it out until someone drops their demands, or taking on a once promising player whose career is in decline and hoping he can somehow revive that early promise with a good midfield behind him (Miller).
  18. In. Still have Iain Flannigan's top from the first time we did this thing somewhere. Free to a loving home!
  19. Hopefully we sign Ofere so we can revive this little ditty the Malmo fans apparently regaled him with: Ofere, ooo-oh, Ofere, ooo-oh! He came from the African country, he set our hearts on fire! Think they would both be good signings (and a level above Eccleston). The Dunfermline fans were convinced Ugwu was the second coming in the first half of last season, and Ofere was pretty useful (although never a stand out) for the team that finished third in the league.
  20. Agree with MP. No problem with moving and maximising revenue. Making it unallocated seating in the Main Stand and allocated seating in the North is bizarrely counterintuitive. I'd much rather have organised with other season ticket holders to book together (as they offer for the North Stand!) than waiting for a free for all on the day.
  21. We definitely desperately need a striker before the end of the window, but we don't need him urgently. I'd much rather Archie took his time even if it meant waiting a few games into the season than rushed out to buy the first player that becomes available so he can be sitting on the bench at Hamilton.
  22. How many other teams routinely release away kits without any sense of the team colours in it? All three of our Joma kits have had no red or yellow in them, neither did our last Puma shirt. Co-incidentally, the last good away kit we had was the black macb one with red and yellow in it.
