  1. How much of that is due to the fact that we are only in the early stages of having a youth development again after years of neglect on that front? Firstly this means that we are not yet one of the preferred choices at which the most promising youngsters look to start (hopefully our improvement on the field, developing reputation for attractive football and for favouring youth over the same old journeymen has-beens will make this gradually change but it wont happen immediately). Secondly it will be a few more years yet before the entirely home grown kids reach the age where they are likely to threaten the first team (the younger fringe first team players that are coming out of the Jaggy Academy at the moment clearly didn't start out with us since we didn't have a meaningful youth set up when they would have been starting out in organised boys/youth football). The combination of these two factors should mean that in future we will have more players ready for first team football at an earlier age than we currently have (if this does not happen down the line then your original point may be valid but I think it is really too early in the process to criticise us for not having a team full of teens)
  2. Then checking the historical records to see if we'd signed Kris Boyd that season and if we had whether we'd cloned him as well.
  3. Also it is a possibility that if this succeeds enough to merit repeating something along the lines suggested may be implemented to run alongside maximising the revenue from our more well heeled supporters. Personally pleased at the sign of some marketing.
  4. And as with James Craigen showed the way to leave and still have the respect and best wishes of the fans. We'll move on without him but always have a place in our jaggy hearts for him. All the best big man.
  5. Got to hope given his glass legs that if (and it is a pretty big if) Welsh is being retained it will be on a minimal basic wage with almost all his earnings coming from appearance money and other bonuses which are tied to him actually playing regularly. Given the trimmed squad narrative we are being sold at the moment I guess the argument will be that Craigen is probably not a regular starter but feasibly a fit Welsh (which granted is a bit of a theoretical concept at the moment) could be with a possible subtext that within the revised budget for next season Craigen wasn't going to sign what we were prepared to offer and Welch will.
  6. Sounds like putting a positive spin on our current circumstances where several first teamers are out of contract and looking likely to walk since we aren't going to be able to match what they can get elsewhere (or think they can get elsewhere (since we don't really know what any of the likely departees have been offered elsewhere - beyond rumours)). A budget cut could, also, well be happening as a result of reduced income this season compared to last due to lower crowds, and we can't really argue with the budget being trimmed if we aren't making enough to support our current spending (don't want another Save the Jags). Seems conceivable that an opinion has been formed that the sort of guys we we are going to be able to round up from the free transfer market, on the mid-lower end of our wage scale, aren't going to be any great improvement on what we already have coming through the youth development set up. If so it could well be that we'd be better off spreading whatever budget is remaining, after any final re-signings take place, thicker and on a smaller number of new bodies. As others have already pointed out the whole point of a youth development policy is to get some of them into the first team so maybe we think we're at that point now or close enough allowing for what we can afford to spend.
  7. Ignores the third option that clan Oyston are running the club into the ground and released almost the whole squad again this year (6 players under contract for next season and 3 being offered new deals (including the PoY who wont re-sign and a guy who went AWOL from Blackpool in November 2014 and hasn't been seen since) vs. 17 released/not being offered new deals and no signed goalkeeper again) , though TBH doubtful we'd want to be signing a defender from a team that had their defensive record last/this season
  8. Viva the Maryhill Makalele!!!
  9. Hey give me a break as the google map flies I'm over 3000km from Firhill.

  11. Never been any risk to sporting integrity of not playing final fixtures in a league format at the same time obviously http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gSie6sqFWg
  12. Hamilton could theoretically pass Dundee with only a draw against United if Dundee get spanked to the extent of a 8 goal swing (or theoretically 7 if Hamilton have a sufficiently high scoring draw in their game to take the lead on goals scored) in their remaining pre-split games (St. Johnstone away on Saturday and Celtic at home on Wednesday). Not likely I grant you but not completely inconceivable.

  14. http://cricfree.sx/f...all-live-stream is advertising it as on and once you get past the initial flurry of popups is usual relatively reliable. No doubt others of our number might have alternative suggestions.
  15. Guessing you'll be watching with the sound off if since it'll likely only be streamed from an original Celtic TV feed with all the even-handedness and lack of bias in the commentary that comes along with that. But it is listed as being shown there (other than in the UK & Ireland) so the usual streaming sources should come up trumps (at work and on the work computer so can't check to be more specific at the moment).

  17. Never mind enrolling him for the Nomads! Can the lad bowl?
  18. Dream scenario Falkirk beating Motherwell in the playoff final ideally with a clearly offside injury time winner after a dodgy disallowed goal or two, several missed penalties and multiple shots off the woodwork by 'well. They were also saved by another "honest guv we need a 12 team league after all" decision when Clydebank (RIP) had the cheek to not finish below them in one of the 10 team Premier Seasons.
  19. cricfree.sx is still running and promising streams for tonight, never tried to use it while in the UK though so can't guarantee it hasn't been jumped on by the streaming police.
  20. Given Wigan's form this season being out of the picture might be a good career move in the short term with the caveat that he ends up in or near the first team at some point before season end.
  21. Or had the good sense to look at the trainwreck that is Blackpool at the moment and said **** that don't fancy playing against ATS in league 1 next season http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/blackpool-fc/watford-7-blackpool-2-shame-of-the-club-that-threw-it-all-away-1-7070892
