  1. I know Jamie Campbell hasn't to date set the heather on fire at Stenny but on Saturday he played 90 mins. He scores a cracker of a goal (No3) and sets up another (No4). Here's the video. You may have to right click and turn off HD and scaling( whatever that is) to get it to play. http://www.stenhousemuirfc.com/video/
  2. Can we have him back for the weekend?
  3. I'd go along with Tom S's proposals tho' I'm far from convinced about summer football. I'd rather see an end to re-arranged midweek fixtures being played in the winter months. That can easily be done by extending the season a tad and scrubbing the idiotic challenge cup, which usually ends up costing clubs money just to participate. Might sound daft but sitting in a covered stand in summer can feel just as cold as most other times. I do agree that playing surfaces would be improved. One thing I'd like to see implemented would be a change to the points system. I've long argued that goalless draws shouldn't be rewarded. Not sure whether 3pts win 1pt scoring draw 0pts goalless, 3pts win 2pts scoring draw and 1pt goalless or 2pts win 1pt score draw and 0pt goalless would be best but whatever I believe the benefits would be obvious.
  4. An esthetically pleasing banking of white heather would be my preference.
  5. My slight criticism of Cairney lately has been he's caught in possession too often to play a normal central role in midfield. I like the forward freer position he played on Saturday. As often as not he can be wasted just playing wide but when the set up is not too rigid he can turn up anywhere in attack and as long as he's on his game he'll be effective. Agree about the scuffed shots but at least they're now shooting at goal rather than the buck passing that's been a sad feature of this and recent.seasons. Hopefully they'll continue being less shot shy and the end product will improve. Rather that than they get embarrassed and revert to trying to walk the ball into the net.
  6. He's a right footed midfielder, usually played wide. Never beats a man preferring to cut in. Loads of ability not a bad crosser of a ball and can if required hold play up. Either lacks a bit of heart or is just genuinely soft. Don't feel he played to his potential often enough with us.
  7. Don't need TV coverage to know It was never a sending off and their defender got to the ball and not a penalty either. I'm maybe one of the few that didn't think Cairney "went down too easy". I think he was always going to trip after the tackle. It doesn't look to me that video is going to clear up their penalty either so seeing it's Collum reffing I'll just assume he got that one wrong as well.
  8. Alex Ferguson tells the story of when he was managing East Stirling and they were playing Queens in front of a crowd of a few hundred. There's one ES fan and one QP fan both out in the open terracing, separate from the rest of the support, shouting obscenities at each other. They get closer and closer till they clash and start knocking lumps out of each other. Even the football stopped so as the players could marvel at this spectacle.
  9. Nice lad so i really hope he does well. Always enjoyed my chats with his Dad at various under19/reserve games. Really believe he has the talent but just shows how precarious a football career can be, .Terrible age in the lad's development to be plagued by injury.
  10. Beat me to it with Forfar , Decent terracing at one end, other end not steep enough but the shed is excellent as well. Alloa is much improved these days, lenny. Nothing great but no longer amongst the worst.
  11. All the very best, Ami. Your work at PTFC and above all your enthusiasm for the Jaggy cause has been very much appreciated.
  12. Yon last time we played at Cowdenbeath midweek was perhaps the only time I've wished I'd been at some legoland stadium instead. If I had to choose out of all those out the road new stadia once in the ground I think Airdrie's is the best. Uber picks out by far the three best away days. Pity we could lose all three for next season and possibly be replaced by two trips to Fife (Pars & Cowden) and also Dumbarton, which in my mind combines just about the worst stadium and blandest place to visit. Having just one stand accommodating both set of fans isn't something we should really be complaining about but when that one stand faces due north it must on occasions be absolutely freezing.
  13. Great pics as always, Tommy. Looks like Aaron was fouled but video might settle that one way or other more conclusively. I'd forgotten about Dods's reminder to the fans, and of course Elliot, that their was a rugby match later on. Can't believe Dods didn't get a card for that. Sorry that's wrong with Mr Collum reffing you should believe anything.
  14. On the issue of OTT policing at Firhill last week as I suspected Falkirk, who were away last week, had the usual low level presence yesterday. So the obvious question is why were we selected for such scrutiny and not Falkirk?
  15. Just some random rambling about pricing..... The concessions tho' at Falkirk are £11 (same as us) and parking £4 (not that I've parked there). In our favour we let the kids in for zilch so Firhill will be cheaper than Falkirk for parents. Btw I still maintain that the biggest rip off in the league is at Cappielow where in my view we're either made to sit at an uncovered end or squeezed into the DVT Stand with a much restricted view. Morton fans can stand or sit (with ample leg room) under cover with unrestricted view. Of course they can if they so wish stand at their end and get soaked or suffer cramp at their end of the DVT. They have at least a choice whereas we've none.
  16. I think that's the youngster, Wallace. Can't say I noticed how he played in the first half but he was superb in the second. I'm sure we'd have settled for a point before the kick off but with 1 pt being no use to Falkirk they pushed on and so I feel we should really have forced the winner. That said Doolan's header, Sinclair's shot that hit the bar and of course Cairney's penalty all went against us. I agree for the most part the football was very good. As an aside I thought O'Donnell's run forward in the play leading up to Duffy's sending off was the fastest I've seen a Jags player run with a ball since, well, I don't know when. And as another aside, Willie Collum is an incredible referee. Absolutely incredible!
  17. The corresponding game earlier in the season Doolan scores a cracking goal in first half then misses a penalty in second. Exact same, same ends even, with Cairney. Think that was Doolan's first miss and today's was Cairney's. Quite spooky that. Right height for saving and I believe Cairney's prefered side so certainly not a good penalty kick.
  18. Arthur Duncan the fella that joined in '65
  19. Surprised at the cost. Not got a clue how Stenny & Montrose managed the finance. With Airdrie I guess the council was more or less 100%involved but I do know a bit or bob about Mulraney at Alloa. I think one of the drawbacks we'd have had is we wouldn't be able to rent it out to quite the same capacity Alloa & Stenny manage where to my knowledge they're the only floodlit pitches in their immediate area.
  20. Ah, it must've been a returnable bottle.. Meanwhile confettigate goes worldwide http://www.theglaswe...2692-23781197/?
  21. Big leap of faith here but I'm trusting the BBC have got their facts right, especially the first few Q & A. http://www.bbc.co.uk...tball/17310468? If rangers do go into liquidation I can imagine the Arab, Well & St J forums overloading. I trust fan power from those three clubs will rule the day but my gut instinct says it won't. I wasn't aware that the Pars will be down regardless and a win tomorrow and we're still in the promotion race. .
  22. Undoubtedly far better than the status quo. Only nitpicking but that means you could still be playing seven teams each four times against the present nine teams four times. Repetitiveness is one of principal reasons most want change. And also maybe better a split Top 8/Bottom 6 incorporating some sort of play off/relegation decider involving lower division club(s)? As I say G SUS's idea is still much better than the present silly set up.
  23. Regretfully I've had to relax my basque policy as well.
  24. Almost certainly there'll be the usual what's in it for us mentality. Petrie, Milne, Yorkston etc are as ever not to be trusted. Likewise but to perhaps a lesser extent Geoff Brown (still pulling the strings) and Gilmour of the Midden is dodgy. It's just possible that what they want for selfish reasons will impact on us and the rest of the leagues in a positive way but that is more likely to be by accident rather intent.
  25. No. Has it anything to do about the 10 SPL clubs having this meeting without the ugly sisters invited?
