  1. Sadly I would imagine plying their trade in Dundee they would by now have a high level of immunity.
  2. Looks can be deceptive. It was worse than that.
  3. I wouldn't fancy their chances in the play offs tho'. The momentum is often with the teams on the up. In practical terms they can rest players well before the end of the season if they know they're going to be in the play off frame. Dundee look like they'd have a tiring squad by then. Actually I think Dundee will probably make 8th place or better in any case.
  4. Don't think much has been said if any about the gale. If we'd only gone in 1-0 up at half time, playing with that strong wind, I'd have been a bit concerned. Playing into that wind and scoring four into the bargain was some achievement. Great to see the two youngsters not just scoring but also contributing. Been saying for ages those two are physically strong and there's very little of a risk factor in playing them. Another thing that pleases me was that we're usually none too clever playing in windy conditions. Today we turned that into an advantage.
  5. Iirc Santala was named MotM despite the fact we were playing away . Anyone confirm?
  6. Talking about l'enfant terrible I've copied this piece of fitba speak from Stuart Miller, this month's Clyde manager, re changing his team's captaincy Reading between the lines anyone?
  7. One goal in two games! You should feel privileged.
  8. Heard about this earlier. Things are getting rather surreal. Has Massone nipped off with the cash?
  9. So you would have subbed Donnelly rather than Buchanan? That's fair but I thought Liam was well knackered after about 80 mins. I also thought Donnelly over the piece didn't have a good game but imo McCall got his substitutions spot on, which is not something that has happened too regularly of late. I most certainly didn't think starting a thread solely about his performance was anyway warranted and I must admit to being a bit suspicious of the motive of poster Mencius. Btw what else has he/she posted on here?
  10. It seemed fairly clear to me that £50K of the £100K had been raised It's also fairly apparent that Billy Allan prefers to shun what limited limelight there is at Firhill as was the director (who may or may not be the same person) that funded Flannigan's signing. I feel we've got to respect this and I don't really mean from a beggars can't be choosers point of view.
  11. Was at the back of my mind too. Fortunately Queens seem to be in a bit of financial pickle themselves. Brechin beating them the other night won't have helped.
  12. Bit of a paradox. I'll have a far wider smile on my face if we win on Tuesday night than I will if we beat Stirling tomorrow. I'll be a more worried soldier if we get beat tomorrow than I would after a defeat on Tuesday.
  13. Looks like they won't even make the headlines in the Courier given what's been happening across the road from Dens.
  14. That's fair comment but I think it was fairly apparent that our back line defenders were uneasy with Halliwell in a way that didn't exist with Tuffey and doesn't with Fox. That's not necessarily a condemnation of Bryn H. The same uneasiness was evident with our defence and Hinchcliffe (away to Dunfermline last season). As time goes by Halliwell, in many minds at least, will carry the can for our atrocious start to the season and the by and large our experienced defenders will be exonerated. Truth is they were all in it together and all carry a share of the blame. It might be worth highlighting how Tuffey recovered from his bampot moment first league game at Ayr and how Halliwell never really rallied after his moment of daftness at Raith. edited to add... Q o S goalie Robinson has not had his short term contract renewed at Palmerston. Maybe Bryn could go back there as back up to Hutton?
  15. Big decision time. I'm just in from the pub. So do I go straight back out or stay in and get stuck into the malt?
  16. Good to see Campbell & Fraser signing extensions. They're both strong players and won't get barged off the ball easily. Like to think the Fox business is just posturing till Halliwell finds a club later this month but it's far from ideal. Another view is that Hinchcliffe aside we currently don't have a stand in goalie apart from Halliwell.
  17. Restraining myself from having a pop at Celtic's & Lennon's combination of paranoia and delusion in case it's taken as tacit support for George Peat and Willie Collum.
  18. As asked on another thread. If Donnelly was subbed who would you have left on? McNamara, Hodge or Buchanan?
  19. To make up the games re-instate mini leagues in League Cup, played early season, with those qualifying for Europe given byes into the next round. Re League Cup, don't need to get too bogged down in arithmetic. Where there's a will there's a way. Something like 4 euro qualifying clubs byed. Invite 2 clubs from Juniors, Highland League whatever to make numbers up to 40. 8 leagues each with 5 clubs playing home & away. 8 winners go thru plus 4 best runners up. Those 12 clubs are joined by the 4 Euro clubs to make 16 and a straight knock out from there on. As it is now each SFL club is guaranteed 18 home matches and one split League Cup tie (ignoring the inane Alba Cup). A 16 club league would provide 15 home matches and a sectionalised League Cup (as above) would provide a further minimum of 4 home games. Also I'd seed the League Cup sections based on league finishing positions the season before. That would have the likely added incentive of mid table teams having something to play for late into the season.
  20. Also I assume there's a cut off time towards the end of the season?
  21. Just out of interest who would you have left on? McNamara, Hodge or Buchanan?
  22. Bit of a side issue but if this is a goer I nominate 1JL to lay down the criteria. It was his idea after all. Things like a minimum number of games the PotD must have played for us as with the Team of the Decade. Maybe as well with the latter, the formation. 3-5-2 was for a good while the Lambie preference but these things are inevitably done on 4-4-2 set up. Anyway I'd be happy to see 1JL lay down the ground rules with this one. Anyone agree?
  23. I feel the worrying thing is even if we clear off the debt we don't know what average attendance we'll have in future years. If we budget for two thousand and it's only 1800 then we're as much as £50K overspent. Gates are falling elsewhere as well and the trend these days is downhill dramatically. It would help if we knew what our basement attendance figure would be, but with the disinterest in going to matches these days so low it would be nigh impossible to guesstimate.
  24. Has to be???? Surely THIS fella? The way he took those two goals up at Forfar...... btw I like the April 16th idea. A Saturday but we're at home that day.
  25. About the last player I wanted at Firhill but I remember the Ian Harty one. Just can't remember who started that rumour
