  1. John Taylor turned 70 a couple of months ago. Spent my formative years living in Raglan Street, near the Round Toll! The family was decanted to Lambhill around 1961. My dad (a Morton) supporter took me to Firhill when I was 9/10. Big crowd, great atmosphere and I think a 3-0 or 4-1 win. When I saw the red and yellow hoops I was hooked. My favourite players were George Niven and Neil Duffy. Lived in Glasgow, various areas, and due to work Elderslie, Edinburgh and NE Scotland. Although based in the NE I spent about 6 years delivering training courses in the Middle East. I bought my first ever season ticket for this season. I played football for High Possil and North Kelvinside Schools and for Possilpark and Sighthill YMCAs.
  2. Smashing player - agree with all of the above.
  3. Agree! We must though avoid possibility of complaints related to fielding a weakened team. So if we leave out any of our key players we should make sure we have plenty of medical evidence!

  5. Against us! If it's a choice between Montrose and Falkirk for me it's a no brainer - I would vote for Falkirk! Falkirk and their Chairman were strong supporters of Partick Thistle last summer! If Falkirk beat or draw with Airdrie or we prevent Montrose winning then either way Falkirk are in the Play-off.
  6. I don't have a problem with this as neither Penrice or Williamson is indispensable! Never less I would like us to try to persuade them to stay. We have clearly spent a lot of time coaching these two players and it's looked v Falkirk that both have learned and improved and hopefully ready to 'kick-on'! I see Penrice as a wide midfield player and Williamson as a right wing-backl Why should another club reap the benefit of the coaching these two have received just when they look ready to blossom!
  7. In using the word Smug I meant it in the context of feeling 'pleased' I did not use in the context of feeling or being superior or in any other pejorative sense, such as smugness! On reflection the word 'proud' would probay have been a more appropriate and accurate description of how I was feeling.
  8. Probably a bit early to start this thread but thought might as well as Saturday's games will influence hoe we approach the final series of games next Tuesday. My main question is what team do we field at Links Park for this final fixture. Montrose need to win both outstanding games to have any chance of a play-off spot while one more point for Airdrie or Falkirk will mean Montrose finishing 5th. This is where I am going to assume they will finish! So a meaningless final game! If I were McCall or Big Wull I wouldn't play Rudden, Bannigan or Docherty. So Season over for these three. I would be inclined to play Cardle (captain), Gordon, McKenna, Greggan, McIver, Wright, Niang, Penrice, Williamson, Lyons and Murray from the start. Not sure of formation but probably 4-4-2. Perhaps 2-3 youngsters on the bench together with some of our regulars, for example, Graham, Foster, Sneddon, Brownie. If however Montrose are still in contention for a Play-off spot we will be obliged to play our strongest team. Still would be inclined to leave out the three superstars mentioned above. Thoughts!
  9. I will take great delight in watching Brechin falling out of the National League. Got me really angry when the Brechin chairman said "there seemed to be a consensus (among league 2 clubs) that no single club should be punished so severely due to the current exceptional circumstances"! I emailed him to ask him why he did not feel the same last year and why as an SPFL Board Member, if he did feel this way, he supported the relegation of H, PT & S; I pointed out to him his 'new' stance was inconsistent with his former views and I ended my communication by suggesting Brechin should if beaten in the playoff games (which at the time although still awaiting a decision I was sure would take place) take their medicine and go quietly to the Highland League in accordance with SPFL rules. Of course there has been no reply!
  10. For the next 3 months we can talk about - how great we were in the past month -whether we should forgive and forget OR black list all the clubs who voted to relegate us or who commented critically, and if the latter - which clubs we are going to support with our money and hopefully attendence, for example, ICT, possibly Hamilton - which clubs we should blacklist, for example, Dundee (backstabbers), (Bill Clark's) Raith Rovers, Queen of the South (there will be winners and losers), Dunfermline (SPFL Board Members) and Alloa SPFL Board Members); also take your pick from Ayr (then chairman donated £5k to the Arabs, Raith & Cove for legal expenses) Morton and Arbroath; have I missed anyone? - might need to add Kilmarnock or (take your medicine) Ross County but hopefully not Hamilton to the list. - I will develop another list for the season after next for SPL Clubs. As implied by my post it will be evident I am, in this matter, not a forgive or forget person. As per this season I will continue to donate cost of attending away games to Jags.
  11. How do we know he didn't congratulate McCall after the game? If your comment is accurate I wouldn't lose any sleep over it! Such small minded people don't deserve out time or attention.
  12. Can someone please help me? I woke this morning and can't stop feeling very satisfied, smug or get this smile off my face! Help please!
  13. All of the above and would want to keep both Penrice and Williamson!
  14. Succinct! SFA wanted Pyramid Play-off to go ahead. Took legal advice which confirmed HL & LL within right to confirm Kelty and Brora as Champions. SPFL didn't want Pyramid Play-off to proceed. They also took legal advice which remained unannounced; SPFL also confirmed Kelty and Brora satisfied SPFL requirements SFA &, SPFL still couldn't reach agreement so issue went to mediation where an Independent Judge reviewed the case papers and heard testimonies and gave an opinion in favour of the SFA! Doncaster says SPFL "working closely with SFA" diplomatic language for we lost! Score SFA 1-0 SPFL Brechin will greet all the way to the HL let down by their SPFL cronies!
  15. Agree with all of the above. Since the restart: P11 - W7 - D4 - L0- GF28- GA9 These stats secured us 25 points. Says it all. Well done to all at Firhill.
  16. Thank you. I occasionally have these moments of insight! I didn't get it quite right though with super Joe getting a 5th (and there should have been a 6th). It was though a very enjoyable, pleasant and stress free evening.... wasn't it!
  17. Just about to say game dying on its feet and great and up steps super Joe! Spoiled my prediction but who cares! 5 - 0 we are really f***k, *g this up aren't we??
  18. Definitely not a foul. His eye never left the ball and the Falkirk defender dipped his head slightly. Poor decision. We are looking fit so far! First 15 mins of second half important - must not let Falkirk score!
  19. 3-0 half time. I suggested in an earlier post the perfect evening would be3-0 at HT and sneak a goal in the second half for 4-0 and play the game out. Don't think I have seen a Jags team so lethal in front of goal for a few years! One and a half hands on the title
