  1. Is this though a Scottish problem? Norways top league (Eliteserien)is 16, played over 30 games. 2 teams straight down 1 team in relegation playoffs Norways 2nd tier (Obos) is 16 teams, playing 30 games. 2 direct promotion places, 3rd to 6th play in a playoff to compete with 3rd bottom of Eliteserien to have a place in top league. 2 teams go straight down, 14th goes in a playoff. Effectively 6 of the 16 teams can swap out at end of season. 30 of 32 teams were full time last year. From my reckoning 26 of 32 made a decent profit, all bar 1 have a profit over 3 years. Crowds aren’t bigger than Scotland but sponsorships are, TV money split fairer, money heavily invested in grassroots, which shows the amount of really good, very valuable Norwegian players plying their trade throughout Europe at top clubs. These are all players who’ve made their initial club a lot of money and rewards the investment in youth football. Probably every club in top league has players that have came through the youth ranks, do you see that at Rangers or Celtic? You see it at Bøde Glimt, I think 27 of 29 squad are Norwegian with 3 of the starting line up on Thursday in Europe being academy players. The same is seen throughout the leagues. The stats for Scottish teams in top 2 divisions this season playing Scottish born players under the age of 21 is atrocious. There are probably clubs in Norways top league who’s minutes given to U21 home grown players are greater than the SPFL combined for minutes given for U21 Scottish home grown players. 4th division kids end up going to 2nd tier clubs at 18, then transferred up a few years later, with the 4th division club benefiting from each sale, investing it back in youth (with a bit of older heads) to generate the next transfer. This is evident when you look at Norwegian national team, only 4 of last squad play in Norway. 6 in England, 5 in Germany, 5 in Italy, 2 in France., plus 1 in Sweden and 1 in MLS.
  2. Coaching with Dundee, hence why we couldn’t get him to Firhill for some pictures. Not they wouldn’t let him just he’s working during the day.
  3. Mark will be sadly missed, his work towards getting the DSA to where it is today will not be forgotten. Mark was a huge champion of disability rights in football and beyond. I only got to know Mark through getting involved and then onboard with the DSA, I’m grateful I did. Mark had a fantastic sense of humor and was forever winding up various members of the DSA committee with his wit, there was never a dull moment with him around, especially with him being a Toffee and Charlene being a Kopite the run up to Mersey derbies were hilarious. Whilst I can’t make Firhill tomorrow ill be watching from Norway on Jagszone and will join in with the applause, and raise a glass to my absent friend. Fly High Mark
  4. Doolan pin brought out June 2022 Doolan came back to club as youth coach January 2023 Play off final June 2023 Don’t let facts get in the way of your posts
  5. Total conspiracy theory nonsense. Its unlikely a player deliberately gets themselves sent off as it (a) could lead to a fine (b) a suspension which affects their appearance money (c) can lose them their place in team again losing appearance money and potential win bonuses. Trying to state a player has now done this 3 times to get 3 managers the sack is at best bonkers at worst malicious. Players often lose them their place head due to frustration. It appears a good few on here are too with some of the conspiracy theories going about.
  6. Elected reps have been there since June not 12 months.
  7. I can confirm that none of TJF board have been on a submarine (with the exception of me).
  8. I did suggest tractor tyres but I was out voted as the carbon footprint on disposal of these is too great. Moped tyres it is
  9. If that figure is £1.5 million that will also include employers contributions to NI / pensions etc I’d assume So taking 12% of for NI (Yes it was 13.8% but only after a fresh hold) say another 5% for insurance pension etc would give a figure of £1.25 million. Split that 30 ways (27 players + 3 backroom staff) gives £41,800 average or £800 a week. With living wage as a over 18 being £429 a week that’s your bottom figure. For every player £100 above the average there must be one below Whether that budget includes bonuses for appearance/wins/goals/clean sheets that’s anyone’s guess.
  10. £1.5 million investment, where has that came from?
  11. A large proportion of season ticket holders are also members of TJF, they contribute in various ways to the club. I’m a season ticket holder, do the lottery and also have the digital stream season ticket, as my ST gets me into around 4 home games a season as I don’t live in Glasgow, I effectively have 2 season tickets (digital and in person). What TJF gives is a voice to the fans to set the direction of the club via their elected board members, any member can stand for election and we’ve currently held 3 fully democratic elections with a 4th coming in June. In addition to the democratic collective voice of its members, TJF also raises and contributes around £200k to the club per annum through its members subscriptions and purchase of merchandise, that £200k was never there before. No organization or initiative whether Jags Trust, 800 club or centenary fund has managed that, it’s also VAT free to the club as it’s a donation, and it’s committed for the season so budgeted. This isn’t myself or the TJF board that’s raising this, it’s the TJF members, over 1800 of them, the board are merely the administrative side of gathering this, or designing, costing, purchasing and selling merchandise to turn a profit which goes to the club as part of our monthly commitments or additional investments like purchasing 180 hospitality places at full price to the club. Beneficiaries (ST holders, Jags Trust Members, 71 club members & TJF members) also have 2 elected fan representatives on the board. If you don’t like the direction TJF or club is going, we have 3 spots coming up for election in June, sign up and stand. There are also 2 fan rep to the board coming up in a years time, you could throw your name in the hat there too assuming you are a beneficiary. Set out your mandate and stand on it and change from within, if the majority of either TJF members or beneficiaries (depending on where you stand) agree with your planned direction.
  12. The season after top 6, I think most of us believed we had a squad that was capable of matching the previous years success, bringing in Spittal, McGinn Keown and Storey were seen as big signings for us especially when adding to the existing squad with Cerny, Doolan, Erskine, Lawless, Booth, Turnbull, Osman, Elliot and several others that were great the year before. Cup exists to Rangers and Celtic but ultimately a disaster of a league campaign where we won 1, drew 4 and lost 6 in the first 1/3 of normal league (pre split) set us up for failure. Last 1/3 was worse winning 1 drawing 2 and losing 8, before a late push in split getting 8 points from 15. Before that Murdo Macleod team was also pretty well backed again relegated by play offs
  13. Since 1980/81 season our league average is 16th. So currently we are at our 40+ year average, obviously a few caveats in there. 1980/81 and 2016/17 6th 1998/99 28th 1999/00 25th 2005/06 26th 2020/21 23rd
  14. Or the player didn’t want to come, or the wages required by player or parent club were too high. There is various ways a transfer doesn’t happen
  15. I think there is now a 2 year grace period on removing plastic pitches
  16. From here https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c897ylxeq0yo.amp
  17. A deal worth £80k including add-ons apparently, with a big chunk of that upfront Where does that money come from for us?
  18. Nothing to do with 2 TJF reps, it’s 2 fans expressing a difference of opinion. I have seen no link of Young to any club including us except on the forum and the Facebook one, both by folk who would like him to come to Firhill. Whilst he’s banged them in this first half of the season , last season he got 4 from 25 and was released. Has he got better as a player or just hit a purple patch, time will tell. Its very rare a player jumps 2 or more leagues and hits the ground running. Erskine and McBeth are recent exceptions to the rule but were 22 and 24 when signed too and had several seasons at junior or US football experience , Doolan barely featured in his first season and went out on loan for 6 months to help with the step up, Blair Lyons was flying with Montrose but never adjusted to our level or full time football. ATS though jumped up 2 leagues had 60+ starts under his belt previously and various league young player of month awards. Everyone is of course a gamble, ultimately does Doolan want him?
  19. It’s a huge jump from League 2 to Championship football, even just adapting from part-time to full time football, are we in the situation we could afford such a gamble?
  20. I haven’t seen him linked to us bar on here. I’m assuming Edinburgh would be wanting a decent 5 figure sum for him even with only 6 months left, even on a PCA for June there’s a development fee to be paid as he’s only 20.
  21. Remember Tranche 1 isn’t included in profit and loss accounts as it’s selling shares / capital, its not P&L for normal trading. Same will apply with Tranche 2.
  22. Then lease it back to them for National teams to train at whilst getting access to the stadium the sold for matchdays. I think Haughey plan is building of the hotel on the land he now owns next to Hampden after the sale.
