I understand how an owner secure finance against the assets of the club. I'm fairly sure the vast majority of football clubs operate in a similar vein. Man United being the best known example. The danger is I assume the owner defaults on the loan. If he is a billionaire is that likely? Like most I'm having great difficulty in understanding why us, but it may turn out we will be even more financially secure than we have been of late....we will know soon enough.

If he makes us successful he can sell us on. If we are not successful he cant. So it is in his interest to make us successful....however you define it.

I have to say this is whataboutery that would give the OF zealots a run for their money. What I would say is that if this takeover is nearing a conclusion Beattie should give some brief detail of what the new owners are planning. I dont expect war and peace ( ironic ) but it would perhaps stop people lighting fires. Considering what has happened recently it could be argued a new board is just what we require.

Let's cut to the chase here. This farce is not Weirs making. It's old board v new board v the takeover. Future lottery winners beware....even if you are a thistle fan....you will be ripped to shreds on social media.

Fully understand why Colin Weir has withdrawn his funding. The pressure should and will be on the new owners to match his financial input. Should be easy for a billionaire! This takeover is happening and all most of us can hope for is that we somehow end up in a better position. The timing is however abysmal. Only PTFC can manage to feck up the windfall from Fitzpatrick and Lindsay. What would have happened to our current finances if that money had not materialised! Incredible stuff!

The statement states the players budget remains the same. If true we can expect more signings then. Also refutes the allegation we are not going for promotion.....

Spot on. Dangerous times indeed. Just as you think we might be turning things around this takeover could hijack this season and possibly more. Big responsibility with Beattie now to ensure the future of the club is robust.
  8. I can believe it. Some fans have judged the entire team on one league game.
  9. I think most will now agree that we are now a team that is difficult to beat. The stats show this since January. I agree we need more flair and a top notch goalscorer. Mansell and no longer Miller the answer. Jones? Who knows. Maybe Mitch Austin will be the missing link. Would still like to get Rudden if that's doable. Still reasonably confident this season will be better than last.

If it is true its deeply worrying. Imagine the players had to drive to Inverness! Maybe it's a one off.....strange whatever the reason.
  11. So you have written the season off already I assume?
  12. Thankfully I wasnt. Dundee United game will give us a better indication where we stand.
  13. Unbeaten so far. I'll take that mediocracy until the end of the season. Early days. The sort of game we lost constantly before last January.....

Why would we hear anything? If you were selling a business would you want the details splashed over social media. Course not. We wait.
  15. It's simple for me. If we continue in the same form that we showed from January to May, we will be play offs at worse. Has GC improved the squad since May I'm not so sure. Dont think it is too different in many ways. We will know where we are heading after first 11 games. Hopefully we are not subjected to hysteria if we do start slowly. I'm more optimistic than last August where I witnessed the poorest jags team at ayr....
  16. Almost agree 100% but I thought Robson may well be better than pen rice. Tbh my first game of season so difficult to judge. No matter what we have two decent left wing backs.
  17. Agree with this. Gifted clyde 2 goals. Thought we missed palmer in the second half tbh.
  18. Welcome. This thread another example of the old adage of patience is a virtue....
  19. Exactly. Keepers have literally no chance now unless it is hit down the middle. A needless bit of Fox bashing this appears.
  20. So how many so called crocks have we signed since Caldwell took over?
  21. Thanks for the update guys. Open communications like this very welcome. Interesting no new directors there...but possibly advisable in the circumstances.
  22. Fair enough. I agree our attacking options need to be better.
  23. Yep. Same age as messi. Let's see what ability the guy has before dismissing him.
