  1. Off topic but definitely doesn't deserve a new thread. I often wonder if any of the posters here lived in Cumlodden Drive in the mid to late 70's. I was staying with my Auntie and cousins and despite being a Rangers fan, my cousin agreed to take me to Firhill. I was Thistle daft. He took me to a pals house, who didn't happen to be in, but his lovely Mum let me choose a Thistle scarf to wear to the game. I was only 7 or 8 and remember being dazzled by the selection he had. I really wanted to, but remember not taking the one with all of the badges on, as I thought this was too special. The scarf was returned btw. Anyone on here relate to that?
  2. It's not the same thing, as the cup win example has implied odds. Going back to the point of the 'rush back from Ibrox' and sack McCall thing. This was a disgrace on many levels and even to the point that the aftermath of this, ruined our glorious defeat on that day. Why anyone would have felt that to be a good idea, is beyond me and I've yet to hear anyone say that the timing of this was proper. I don't think there is any argument to be had on this. The arguments around whether McCall should still be manager or if Doolan is good enough etc., are down to the individual. Personally, I've always liked the idea of Doolan as Manager and Trainer, with McCall taking on the other duties.
  3. Feels like a win win situation for some. Join in the fun if we win and get to be proved right if we lose. There's probably a grain of truth in what most of you / us say but I listen to us in the same way I do pundits, with caution and for some entertainment.
  4. What is it with us and Cups? Nothing but bitter disappointment.
  5. There is no first scorer as it stands. Own goals don't count. Been a while but do you get your money back if there is no first scorer?
  6. I guess the next 110 minutes will tell us what we're in for this season. And who knows, we might pull one back and take it to extra time.
  7. Albert Craig? He has connections to my hometown and I'm sure someone mentioned he was a Thistle fan.
  8. If it was the beginning of the end for McCall, then it was because he thought that our second string and I probably include Fitzpatrick in that at the time, were good enough, when they clearly were nowhere near. I was at the game with friends and family, including my nephew, who was attending his first game, and felt cheated tbh. There was a decent Thistle support there that night and for me, McCall chose minutes in untried and uncaring legs over trying to win the game. He chose to discount it, the fans clearly didn't. Having said that, I'll stick by my point and say that overall, I was less disappointed with this loss than a loss in any other competition, including the league of course.
  9. It's one of those that we can readily discount, should we lose in one of the early rounds. Falkirk away last year being an example. On the other hand, the final at Livi v QOS, was a great day out. I wouldn't mind another one of those tbh.
  10. Didn't want to start a new thread....... This girl is very good and talks well about football in general. Her Mum gives her a great answer on the phone in the video from 7.35 onwards. Up The Jags.
  11. If they were included, that would mean very few, if any, pay at the gate fans. I'm guessing they're not included in the attendance figures.
  12. Add another 1 to the number, if you counted more than an hour ago.
  13. 3rd best outcome from a financial point of view and we might just nick it. Glad the Dundee's are out too.
  14. Still a good amount. I guess there's half of any gate fee to add to this?
  15. Get through this and things could go our way. Looks like most of the teams from the North East are going out. St Johnstone, Dundee United, Inverness and Dundee look out already, with Raith looking like they could also struggle to progress. I wonder who we'll get of Ross County or Aberdeen should we win on Saturday.
  16. Was sent an email previously from Allan McGraw. All went well and I received a payment from The Jags Pot Society. I'm still owed two footballs and the collection of those hasn't gone as well.
  17. Not sure, think maybe Lawless, took one from the right that was straight to the penalty spot. A slight variation from the in-swinger and we nearly scored from it.
  18. Exactly. You can't act like you mean business, unless you act like a Business. Some would strip the club bare given the chance. Gerry Britton has done a lot for the club and brought in much needed new sponsorship. I attended a night at the club and his customer service team, who were fantastic on the night, seemed to hold him in high regard. No-one spoke about him but he was referred to in a good light, when a question was asked. A sincere thanks for all you've done Gerry.
  19. I wonder if a win on Saturday, could help Doolans' budget for players. Could also be a big crowd on Saturday, which helps too.
  20. Other than the mistake, I thought he played well. His positional play was pretty decent and he had a good sense of where the ball was landing when the Arabs punted it forward.
  21. It replaces pre-season friendlies with competitive games and gives the lower league clubs some revenue, as they get to play 3 or 4 games, instead of being knocked out in the first round. The League Cup proper starts after the group matches and is pretty relevant as far as I'm concerned. I'd celebrate like there was no tomorrow if we won it.
  22. Seems we scored the first goal of the new season. I bet we haven't done that too many time in our history.
  23. Don't want to bock the result but our record in the group stages of this tournament is second to none. Is a good start and hope we keep it going. See the replacement Rangers, (if ever they were needed), have their first penalty of the season. That's Killie btw.
  24. Think you're spot on with this and it can wear you down. Has been the same with Scotland but things are on the up. We're stuck with them, although we know it's our own choice really. Who'd want to support Barcelona and Argentina anyway. It just wouldn't be the same.
  25. Is it not 60 ST's? £20,000 / 330
