  1. Sorry, just remembered a cup replay in the 70's? drew at Firhill, took my young brother to the midweek replay at Shawfield and we won 5-1, great night or maybe it was just a dream. Can anyone remember what cup that was in and when it was?
  2. Was talking to a workmate today who is a Clyde fan and he told me a story about when Celtic drew Clyde in the Scottish Cup and Jock Stein announced he was going play their reserve team. The Clyde manager at the time (forgotten his name) said if they play their reserve team so will we! Clyde were on a hiding to nothing, play their first team and no one is surprised if they beat our under 20's, get beat a few days before the league starts, they get criticised and confidence drops. He was happy Barry chose that course of action, their priority is to get out of the 2nd Division this year, not get a few rounds of the Challenge, B&Q, Centenary, Ramsden, Irn Bru, what ever it's called cup under their belt. If tables were turned I would hope Archie would do the same, never the less it's always good to beat the Clyde at any level and I can't remember the last time the senior team did it so well, great second half.
  3. Have they changed the rules, I thought the players had to be in their own half and the first touch had to go forward. The German player was in was in the Polish half and played it straight back to one of his midfielders. Next thing you will be able to walk ten yard and release the ball from in front of your head at a throw-in.
  4. Hopefully you will get one before Friday as Saturday will definitely be too late.
  5. Mr Maxwell assured me yesterday that the row letters would revert back to last season's set- up by Friday night and we would be back to our usually seats. However, the stickers were last years and half of then had fall off or been pull off, so I don't know if this will be sorted. Lets hope it is, as I don't really think the Club appreciates how much this annoys supporters and make the club look amateurish. We're in the big league now.
  6. Hopefully they will get the row numbers correct.
  7. Yes, this did cause a lot of confusion and much discussion yesterday, but managed to work out why it happened. In many numbering systems, especially for ticketing, you don't have rows I, O & Q as these can be confused with 1 & 0. However, the painter obviously new his alphabetic and included them, creating three "new" rows. Felt sorry for the couple who sat next to us as their seat had disappeared up the vomitorium, enough to make you sick. What really surprises me though, is when you introduce a new ticket system surely the first thing you do is create a electronic seating plan of the stadium, like Falkirk, where I have actually pick seats on-line for concerts. This said I will still be calling Ian Maxwell on Monday for clarification that the numbering system shall revert back before they issue the season tickets.
  8. Cowdenbeath say ref says game is on but what will happens tomorrow?
  9. Like the one in the pub that said they could do the quadruple. Now we must be favourites, we have always played best as the underdog, but anyone of the 3 remaining - at home would do.
  10. I've made my compliant to the BBC, so much for honesty & integrity in journalism, why not spoil a player's 400th appearance for his club by printing a blatant lie. Not funny and an immediate apology is required.
  11. I am old enough to remember dribbling Dennis McQuade and there has to be something at the end of it other than the wrong side of the byeline.
  12. Flannigan is a bit like Sid he wants time on the ball, most 1st division teams won't afford you that. In the past we have tried slow build-up and the opposition get men behind the ball and we run out of idea. Then we try the big punt and its a long time since we had a big forward to knock the ball down, so defenders eat it up. He needs to become more direct and slip the ball into forwards facing the goal.
  13. I wonder why, he obviously doesn't think he will be left with the players to win the league, so who does he think will?
  14. Maybe he could just do his bird and then come back. Seriously enough of the puns, if everyone with a criminal record wasn't allowed to ply their trade then we would have a lot of people on the buroo. He is a proven goal scorer, I'd take him rather than watch him scoring goals against us, which will no doubt happen.
  15. So according to the Sun there will still be a Match Commander (and a few police) so the stewards can still blame him for the North gate being closed after the game. Maybe this is their solution, detain as many Thistle supporters as long as they can so they can't chase those poor opposition supporters. Basically its still the same, a useless ********* can't trust his men to do their job (keep the peace) treats law abiding citizens like animals and the directors are complicit.
  16. But I doubt its right, we are beeing sponsored by macb so horizontal stripes. Maybee like the one the new mascot is wearing in the new sponsor publicity photos. Is that not a big clue?
  17. Does this mean that the stewards can no longer blame the "Match Commander" for keeping the gate at the North end of the Jackie Husband stand closed for at least 10 minutes at the end of each game. Hooray! quicker to the pub. Changing the "Shed" end to the North end of the Jackie Husband is highly unlikely, in that I guess the directors are expecting so few travelling supporters from other clubs next season that they will be able to accommodate the visiting support there and save opening the North stand at all. Thereby saving more money.
  18. My friend the "Monkey Hanger" called me the other day and told me about this http://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/page/SeasonTickets/0,,10326,00.html Maybe Thistle could think of something similar (except for the final price if they don't get the uptake). Problem is it looks good but two things, they sold less than 2000 Season Tickets in total last season and how do they budget on only £400,000 of ST sales, They must have several other income streams.
  19. Agree Ayr is a good day out, Cowdenbeath were a bit of of a bogey team, Forfar is to far even allowing for their bridies and Brechin is even further. St Mirren just to tick another ground off and I have never liked the Accies, due to past encounters on their plastic pitch and the wee naff due to his previous connections with the worst team in Scotland - official. Will miss the Stephen's bridies.
  20. Well T did say that this was completely theoretical and I got it almost completely wrong, except the date of the Morton game. Fortunately we are not playing any teams home and away the same week, but we are playing 5 away out of 6 games in February
  21. This game is at 7:30,according to SFL site, wouldn't want you to be late!
  22. I agree, can we not send him out on loan to Clyde. Doolan, Boyle and Kinniburgh all went there and by all accounts were shocking. However, they all came back and suddenly started to show improvement. Maybe they realised how lucky they were to be at a big team like Thistle.
  23. They have moved with the times, all clubs have access to an intranet site where they can check their players are registered. What the SFL are saying is that Shire should have checked to see if the paperwork had been received and the player successfully registered. If not they should have contacted them to find out what happened to the paperwork or if it was too late simply not play the player, as he was obviously not registered.
  24. Didn't Donedee try that last season and look at them now.
