  1. Right, last warning @sandy and @javeajag stop it. Take your stupid squabbles private and spare the rest of us from having to scroll through pages of every thread to avoid it.
  2. The quality of the forum is certainly not helped by a small, but vocal, number of posters that can't seem to avoid making every 'debate' an exercise in point scoring against each other. Personally I couldn't care less if you think Gary Caldwell is the greatest manager in the world or even worse than Derek Johnstone. Just try and make your point without coming across as a petulant toddler.
  3. Absolutely no reason why his testimonial match can't take place. It's not organised by the Club but by the testimonial committee. The Club allow the testimonial committee use of facilities but it is the testimonial committee that are responsible for pretty much everything else including selection of opponents. Kris need not play in the match if his new employers don't want him to for him to benefit from it.
  4. @Third Lanark and @Woodstock Jag you are both being as tedious and obnoxious as each other. Please take your tiff elsewhere.

Not just a club legend but not the Messiah :-)
  6. As Gary Caldwell's massive seven days has now been ongoing for two months this thread, as has been suggested, has now been locked.
  7. My final word on the subject. It's out there now and I can't arsed spending my free time deleting it when it comes up here. So knock yourselves out. Personally I think the content of the message is actually irrelevant though I'm unsure what the purpose of the exercise is. An internal communication I feel should remain so. An extension of 'what is said in the dressing room should remain in the dressing room' if you like. We have a massive game on Saturday and who knows maybe another 4 after that. I'm angered that ahead of that a player or member of staff has chosen to undermine his manager in the fashion they have. It's hardly uncommon for a player to not like, to not rate their manager. And they may be right to do so. For me this isn't about what the management were trying to do or whether Gary Caldwell is a good manager or not. It's an issue of trust. You don't shaft your manager in that way no matter what you think of him. And you certainly don't do it before such an important game. I desperately want us to win that game and this, IMO, doesn't remotely help. I'm sorry my decision to initially delete the post caused anger. It was done with the best of intent. It's probably best that this page finds someone else to provide Admin support I don't have the time or inclination to get drawn into these things.
  8. Can you please not share what is obviously intended to be an internal communication. An internal communication should remain so no matter how absurd you might think it is. Thanks.
  9. We won yesterday the forum will be all nice and peaceful I can spend a pleasant Sunday without checking on it. Or so I thought. I've belated tidied up this thread. Only the fact that I should have nipped it in the bud has prevented me from temporarily removing some posters. Play nice or don't play at all. And for goodness sake try and enjoy the fact we won a vital game.
  10. Nor should it be. Ever. Irrespective of the player involved or the manager involved. A manager should only base his decision re a player's future on what he considers he brings to the team. Not on what any given player feels about the club. That's an example of weak management. You can argue that from a footballing point of view allowing Chris Erskine, probably my favourite player of the last 20 years or so, to go was the wrong call. But to suggest Erskine's feelings for Thistle should have influenced Caldwell's thinking is just wrong. Allowing Erskine to leave was a big call. In many respects, given his popularity within the Thistle support, a brave one. Whether it was the right one is open to debate and no matter how the season finishes will be difficult to provide a definitive answer to.
  11. Thanks. "No, I don't actually think they are going away for 'a jolly'", would have sufficed though.
  12. Do you honestly think the motivation for this trip is "a jolly"? Now I don't know whether it is a good idea, bad idea or an indifferent idea. Indeed I don't even know if it is actually happening. I'm pretty sure though that if it is that the manager isn't taking the players away for a midweek piss up.
  13. There is one reason why Hazard is being played ahead of Sneddon and one reason only. The manager believes that right now Hazard is the better option. Now whether that is actually right is open for debate but that the idea that Hazard is being played as some kind of favour is simply nonsense.
  14. Your style of posting provokes a reaction. The 'unnecessary abuse' that has been reported has been deleted. Maybe take your own advice and chill. Didn't expect to deal with this kind of nonsense after a great win.
  15. The article and the quote from Al Ahly's legal consultant doesn't even hint that Al Ahly will be pursuing Partick Thistle for the fine that was imposed upon Coulibaly. Despite the headline there is no mention of a bill heading our way or of any intent to seek money from Thistle. Coulibaly appealed the fine he was given. He lost that appeal. Coulibaly owes Al Ahly the money. Either he pays, it or gets someone to pay it for him (as suggested by Al Ahly's legal consultant), or once the current temporary registration issued by FIFA expires (or is revoked) he doesn't play professional football. I'm no lawyer and I could, of course, be way off the mark but a basic, layman's, understanding of the process of granting an International Transfer Certificate and specifically what happened re Coulibaly's transfer to Thistle makes me think that the chances of Thistle being liable to pay a fine imposed on Coulibaly are unlikely.
  16. Surprise, surprise The Daily Record headline doesn't accurately reflect the substance of the article. In the article Al Ahly's legal consultant says that upon losing his appeal Coulibaly has to "pay the fine in person or get the club, Partick Thistle, to pay it for him". There isn't any suggestion that a £1million bill is heading our way. The reality is that the dispute is between Coulibaly and Al Ahly. Al Ahly didn't release his registration when we signed him. We appealed to FIFA and Coulibaly was given a temporary registration enabling him to play for us. It is possible that that temporary registration could now be revoked given that Coulibaly has lost his appeal against the fine imposed on him. After 4 sub appearances that wouldn't be any great loss to us although I still think the signing itself was well worth a punt at the time.
  17. Sandy, Do me a favour and drop this kind of shite. Cheers

I've received a report asking Admin to tell you to 'shut your puss'. To save my phone from pinging while I'm at home trying to watch a film could you do me a favour and shut your puss. Or at least tone down the abuse. Cheers.

  20. A few posts have been, belatedly, deleted. Try and cut out the personal stuff.
  21. There are 11 players out of contract at the season's end with 2 other loan deals due to expire. Who would you want to keep?
  22. The Evening Times yesterday listed all Premiership players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/celtic/16117009.Listed__Every_Scottish_Premiership_player_with_a_contract_running_out_this_summer/ Irrespective of what division Thistle find themselves playing in next season it looks as if some serious decision making will need to made upon the season’s conclusion both by Club and by player. There are 11 players out of contract at the end of the season with the full list being: · Stuart Bannigan · Abdul Osman · Callum Booth · Martin Woods · Steven Lawless · Paul McGinn · Mustapha Dumbuya · Gary Fraser · Danny Devine · Ryan Scully · Kevin Nisbet The bulk of the players on that list would be considered, when fit, genuine first team squad players at the very least. Two, Gary Fraser and Kevin Nisbet, are presently out on loan to Championship clubs. Fraser is enjoying his first run of competitive first team football in about two seasons and his progress at Morton may well be worth monitoring. Nisbet, however, doesn’t appear to have been setting the heather on fire in a Dumbarton side that have struggled for goals all season. There are fitness doubts surrounding Stuart Bannigan and Mustapha Dumbuya neither of which has played much in the last couple of seasons. Bannigan unquestionably is a player of some talent and if fit would be a major asset to the Thistle midfield. Dumbuya, however, may be expendable although with Paul McGinn also on the list of out of contract players that would leave Thistle, not for the first time, short at right back if no deal was offered to McGinn or he chose to move elsewhere. Ryan Scully may feel that he needs a move and regular first team football if he wishes his career to develop. In addition to the 11 listed above the loan deals of Conor Sammon and Bailey Cargill also expire at the end of the season. If Thistle end a frustrating season by maintaining their Premiership status some observers still feel that a freshening up of the playing squad will be required. Having so many out of contract players at the season’s end may present the opportunity to do that although the flip side of that would mean that a significant amount of recruitment, in a limited market, would be required in the summer.
  23. Just a wee message about a new feature to be introduced that might prove popular. Or not as the case may be. If you look at the top of the page (see pic) you'll see an icon for Blogs. It is our hope to include some blogs. One will be for Thistle news stories (trying to make the forum more than just a forum if you catch my drift) as well as your standard blogs. We've added the most recent entry from Tom Hosie's Facebook blog on the current season to give you an idea of the kind of thing we would like to see on the Blogs page. http://www.wearethistle.co.uk/forums/index.php?/blogs/ If you would like to contribute a blog on Thistle or football in general then drop admin a PM. There's is no need to make a commitment to a regular entry and no minimum, or maximum, word count. Just whenever the mood takes.
  24. This seems as good a place as any to post this. As many of you will be aware Colin and Charlene have stepped down from providing the Admin for this forum. It falls upon me to hopefully continue the excellent work that they provided over the years. I've been spending a bit of time getting used to the various Admin functions but you should start to see one or two minor changes over the next week or so. Nothing major as it seems to have been working pretty well from what I can make out. One new feature is a sub forum for Away Day Information. The simple idea behind this is to collate all information regarding tickets, prices etc for each away game in one place so hopefully if anyone needs any information then it is simply a click or two away. Fixtures too should now be added to the calendar where again hopefully all relevant information can be found. In the meantime if there are any features you would like to see or any suggestions at all please feel free to keep them to yourself let me know. Cheers.
