  1. When his jacket falls aff the shoogly peg, the WHOLE management team go - McCall Archibald AND Scally.
  2. I think by that time, ALL of the management team will have had their time That includes SCALLY. Despite what a certain other Scally WAG poster with an agenda may think.
  3. I'm reading "Shuggie Bain" just now. You must have finished it before me!!
  4. I thought Birmingham. Villa beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in 82 (Peter Withe). I don't recall Birmingham ever being in the European Cup. They got beaten 4-1 in Barcelona after a home 0-0 draw in the EUFA Cup final. Everton won the 1985 European Cup Winners Cup Final, but have not been in the European Cup semi or final, to my knowledge. I wonder if the original question was on European finals?
  5. I see the SPFL have signed a new two and a half year deal with The Lomond Group for Glen's vodka and some of their other brands to sponsor the leagues. Never heard of Glen's vodka. SPFL describe the drink as "The Spirit of the Scottish Professional Football League" Who thought up that mouthful? (Not the vodka.) Big deal is it? I thought football was moving away from alcohol and gambling sponsorship. Obviously not. I've seen nothing on the actual cash involved . Has anyone seen how much our esteemed SPFL £350,000 exec has signed us up for? Does it cover his salary?
  6. Agree with this. Only Dumbarton, Clyde and Forfar have scored fewer goals than us. Falkirk have scored nearly twice as many as we have. No invention in front of goal, and this is costing us dearly. We don't seem capable of breaking quickly, and forwards seem incapable of using initiative. We need to start scoring more freely, because with Queens Park in League 1 next year, things will not be easy.
  7. Me. I've had some water in my ear since yesterday, and I can't get rid of it.
  8. The £10,000,000 for the lower leagues was intended for lower pyramid teams outside the SPFL and the womans game, as well as Championship Leagues 1 &2 clubs. Non SPFL leagues also got £ 1.25 million lottery/ SFA grant. No SPFL/SFA press release yet, outlining the breakdowns. Our issue is that we are full time in a part time league. Morton & QOS will need to be saved from going bust, but I suspect you'll find The SFA/SPFL will argue you disadvantage clubs in a league by giving differing amounts to different clubs . The difference in value between Championship and League 1 is colossal, but reflects full time to part time status. Alloa, Arbroath win, Thistle, Falkirk & QP lose . QOS chairman Hewison will no doubt say there will be winners and losers.
  9. The total grant is £10,000,000. Championship clubs get £500,000, i.e. 50% of the total. League 1 clubs get £150,000 i.e. 15% of the total. League 2 clubs get £100000 i.e. 10% of the total. Full time clubs like Thistle, Falkirk and Queens Park are disproportionately affected by this allocation, with Alloa and Arbroath the clear winners. The club needs to urgently seek the SFA/SPFL to explain the logic here. Pity there is no vote involved, as Morton and QOS need their cash before the end of this month. This split defies all logic.
  10. Yes - tongue in cheek, and his prowess from distance will be noted. But there's no truth in the rumour that that wee lassie he fired the ball at at Parkhead has been given a tin hat. His sending off was downgraded as Peterhead provided video evidence that the alleged head butt didn't happen. Did he try and miss?
  11. He's more likely to smack it into one of those student flats.....
  12. Gary Fraser of Peterhead had his SFA appeal Hearing today, against his red card last Saturday against East Fife. His red card was downgraded to yellow, and he is available to play against his old team on Saturday. (Us.) Most unusual for the SFA Appeals panel to do us a favour .
  13. Jimmy was before my time at Firhill, PTFC1942. In the "Partick Thistle Legends" book, he is described as a free kick specialist, and a tribute said "As an attacking half-back he has few equals and few can put more venom and direction into a free kick." It's well known that after his playing career finished, he returned to Firhill as a groundsman for about 15 years, but less well known is that as a 14 year old in 1939, Jimmy was a "Bevin Boy" down the pits at the start of World War Two. I think his first senior outing was in 1945, where the Jags had a clash of fixtures. The first team went to Germany to play a game against an Army 11, and Jimmy got his debut at the same time in Inverness, against a Clach side. He never looked back, although he took a couple of years to become firmly established in the first team.
  14. AFK, looking at the clean sheets record in the lists section (goal-clean sheet streaks) of the Archive, it shows that we had 5 consecutive clean sheets in league games twice. In 1968 ( Dundee United, Raith Rovers, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts.) and 2013 (Hamilton,Airdrie,Dunfermline, Dumbarton and Hamilton again). If Keiran Wright has a clean sheet next week against Peterhead, he equals that record for league games. The 7 competitive clean streaks in 1921 were against Airdrie, Hearts, Albion Rovers, Hibs twice (Scottish Cup ), Morton, Hibs again Scottish Cup 2nd replay).
  15. The player did nothing wrong in the way he scored. If he had, the goal would not have counted. It's not even unsporting conduct. I did see in one of yesterday's papers that he was cautioned for the altercation afterwards. He didn't do anything then either! Crazy!
  16. Totally agree. We know who voted with Thistle in this league. You can have it emblazoned on the back of one of BowenBoys redyellow.org teeshirts, in case you forget!
  17. The voting figures from the votes are mentioned, but not a club by club breakdown, DL. Needless to say, Dundee do find a dishonourable mention in dispatches. Brechin City, with their farcical reprieve, (and prior potential relegation to the Lowland as opposed to Highland League) come out as baddies. Well worth a read.
  18. I see that an article has just been added to the "Particles" section of the thistle archive outlining the "Bad Friday" vote to end last season, and the unsavoury aftermath. The article is " Factions and fractions: The calling of the season 19-20 & the eviction of PTFC". Good article, but even now, painful reading.
  19. Has nobody told him you can wear boots with screw in studs of differing lengths? I hope that his degree isn't in Sports Science. Someone should buy him a pair of pukka boots for Christmas
  20. The "Warp speed "zone. The ball travels quickly, and in our case, comes out the other side!!
  21. From today's "games played on this date" in the Thistle Archive, we played Johnstone away in 1882 in a friendly. The report starts "Played at Johnstone (eight men a side)......" I wonder if Ian McCall might have any success putting this option to the SFA/SPFL, until our injury problems ease? Thought not, only asking.
  22. Can I have a Pina Colada instead?!
