Someone just highlighted this thread - not been on the forum much. Anyway, almost 60 of set off from Campbeltown and 7.45am on Saturday morning to head to Milton where over 40 kids and youths enjoyed a terrific 90 minute coaching session hosted by the Thistle Weir Youth Academy before we made out way to the game. Was a bit worried it might be a wet miserable day and finish 0-0 but everyone witnessed a cracking game with 4 top quaility goals! Couldn't have went better and at the end the kids got on to the pitch to get their photo beside the Thistle Weir board. After that they met a couple of players before we headed down the road finally getting home just before 10pm.

The feedback has been superb with the kids, parents and coaches all commenting on how much they enjoyed the whole day. It looks like we now have a wee band of of new Thistle supporters too!

Really was a great day and we hope to enjoy the experience sometime again!

For anyone on Facebook there are a couple of photos at https://www.facebook.com/CampbeltownFootball

And yes, we presented Gerry with a special bottle of Springbank Malt and one for the club too which Ian Maxwell said will be on display now. :-)

Great stuff - well done Thistle!

All puns to one side, it's really great to hear of Thistle treating a group of guests so well and that the folks that took the trouble to do a 350 mile round trip had an enjoyable day.

Huge credit to the club for a job well done.

I'm sure the Argyll boys were Crinan from ear to ear........ :fan:

Think Gerry might have sampled his bottle of malt already with this new idea of a free kick of his.

This thread is Jura another post.

From Campletown, you'd probably see Ireland more easily than any of these islands.

Cnoc Moy down with a feather.

Don't Saddell this thread with inaccuracies please.

The only islands you can see from Campbeltown are Davaar and Arran.

Muasdale and Mull over this, while you consider the errors of your wisdom.

Tried to like post, but ran out of likes? Do you only get a stingy two a day here?

Anyway, echo Mr Skwerrs view.

Is the Rest & Be Thankful closed again, or did they drive round the Mull a couple of times before departing?

Ah - the dangers of working from memory!

On checking, it's "only" 130 miles each way, not 180 as I thought.

I must have confused reality with what I used to claim in mileage for driving there!

There is no Firkin Point in making threads like this with all these puns!

Hoy, mind your language!

Need to be a bit more Oban-minded than that...

Not so sure he should. You can see the folly there, surely?

Barra anything overtly offensive, Uist think we could all manage to be civil to one another without needing to Eigg anyone on, or give out Crieff. I Canna be bothered with any Muck throwing. Camb Doune !!

We want the youngsters of Campbeltown to come back, become lifelong Jags, even form their own supporters branch, so Knockscalbert it on the head any Fallin out. Thankerton.

(11 puns=too much?)
