Jaggernaut
Definitely past his best when he came to us....... one of several OF players who came to Firhill and really just picked up a wage for doing very little. But good to see he's still going, and celebrated his 81st birthday yesterday.
jaggy
Happy Birthday and good to hear he's still around. When he joined us I was around 12 & my brother about 10. We nicknamed him 'wheelie' as we though he was so old that he was in a wheelchair I remember he scored a header and we reckoned he'd used a ladder lols A bit unfair but we were young. All the best Stevie! Ps as an aside I met his son Paul when he played at St Mirren

Garscube Road End
Didn't realise he was nearly 40 when he left us? 6 goals in 44 appearances.

jagfaelivi
Good story about Stevie and his golf. A pal of mine played with him in the early 70's in the Bathgate Golf Club 36 hole open. At the 7th hole in the morning his drive hit the marker pole for the hole, some 180 yards from the tee. AND same hole in the afternoon he did the same thing again. To hit the marker once is unusual but to do it twice in the one day is a millions to one shot. Decent man by all accounts and sorry to hear he is struggling a bit.
Jaggernaut
I wonder if Thistle will ever field another winning goal scorer of the European Cup/Champions League...... Somehow I doubt it, unless it's Doolan, of course!
Weebaw1
Good health to Stevie. The Celtic team of that era was brilliant, best Scottish club side ever. But he was rank rotten by the time we had him. A bad signing. Surprised he scored as many as 6 goals.
