In the hopefully unlikely event that there are one or two on here who are still thinking of voting for the British Nazi Party, I urge you to watch this. It's not pretty.

I don't think anyone who voted BNP in this poll was taking it seriously to be honest.

BBC version of events shows the young lad in the video delivering a mouthful of phlegm stright in the BNP guy's face. I'm not saying it's right to batter someone, but it was fairly extreme provocation.

So was the BNP guy in his manner and what he was saying. As well as his weel mate in the purple jumper how joined in kicking a guy on the ground and the second the guy on the ground got up, our purple jumper friend decided to run off behind someone else. ****ing cowardly scum!

Think it was pretty disgusting to gob on the guy like that though. Perhaps a John Prescott style retaliation would have been reasonable but the level of violence is ridiculous. Should be prosecuted for that.

On a different issue, the pictures on the news channels from Greece are amazing just now. Big standoff developing between police and protestors in front of the Parliament as they are preparing to put through the "austerity measures".

Phone canvassing today:

Me: "Hello, I'm phoning from the Labour Party offices, is that Mr X"?

Voter: "Yes".

Me: "Can I ask you if you've voted today"?

Voter: "No, I haven't".

Me: "Can I ask if you'll be voting later and if we can count on your vote"?

Voter: "I'm not voting".

Me: "May I ask you why, as we have you down as a previous Labour voter"?

Voter: "I'm not voting today".

Me: "Are there any issues you'd like to discuss with us at all"?

Voter: (Now with raised voice) "I'm not voting cos I've got fuc*en pneumonia"!

Me: "Ok, sorry to have troubled you". Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

s**t looks like the welsh vote is gonna be a big factor

Glasgow North increased Labour majority. Also pleased that Murphy increased his vote in East Ren. He has done a fantastic job in the area of the last 13 years and that racist homophobe Cook would have wrecked it all.

That would be shocking and totally undemocratic and I (and I hope a lot of people) would lose all respect for the Lib Dems if they used their burst of popularity to prop up a failing old government. Indeed the thought that this could happen should lead any Liberal Lib Dem voters to vote Conservative.

Saying that, I think a Conservative-DUP pact to gain a majority, if a pact is even required, will be fine thanks.

Surely a coalition of the parties with the biggest share of the popular vote would be extremely democratic?

So there should be a Tory/Labour coalition?

Not impressed at all with the comments being made that a majority has voted for the centre-left so thy have a mandate for a coalition. That implies all Lib voters would have Lab as second preference. A very arrogant assumption. I know my girlfriend voted Lib and would hate it if they propped up Labour. I'm sure she's not alone.

Anyway, seems like Clegg will be true to his Liberal roots and offer to support Cameron.

Btw, if PR was brought in, would there be any chance that the Lib Dems could split again given that they could hold some power in their own right?

Obviously really disappointing for Lib Dems, and we didn't even get that close in Glasgow North after all that! (4000 behind approx).

Absolute nightmare scenario now though and its amazingly confused. Thought Brown was a bit out of order to come out and make a statement as the Prime Minister and then blatantly make an offer of a referendum to the Lib Dems near the end. Smacked of panic I thought.

Will be interesting to see what Cameron is going to say.....

Panic, or compromise? For a hung-parliament to work, parties will need to concede some points or find some way to pass agenda by actually discussing the options. Whilst possibly panicking, the idea of a referendum on electoral reform is one of these compromises that should be sought as it seems to be what the public want. I can't see how you can argue with that.

Hope Blackpool Jags doesn't live in Blackpool North. The tories have just gained it!! :P

No fear. I live in Blackpool South which we held with a much reduced majority of under 2,000. Blackpool North was captured by the Tories after the boundary revision which took Fleetwood out of the constituency which in turn created a shoo-in for them.

Four elections now since the Tories were last able to muster a majority, under grey John Major. After all the huffing and puffing, all the "the country's f*cked under Labour, time to go Brown", even the Guardian deserting Labour to jump on the 'Clegg fever' bandwagon, etc etc etc and STILL there aren't enough voters willing to take a punt on a Tory Govt. That speaks volumes to me. If they can't form a government when Labour's at its lowest ebb - allegedly, as bad as things were in 1983, under Michael Foot - then maybe, just maybe, they're finally fuc*ed. Let's hope so anyway.

Would you accept that minority Tory government might survive long enough to drive the final nails into the(ir own) coffin?

Surely once they prove that they can't actually deliver the promises that they made to swing the Southern vote their way (i.e. change), that'll be it for another 10 years. Won't it?
