Maybe. But there's a strong argument to keep it afloat. Kinda like a pub that continually falls foul of environmental health and barely pays even lip service to licensing laws. Because the premises is the haunt of pond life the polis are less than keen to see the place shut. By keeping it open they at least know where to find the dregs of humanity. Otherwise they'd seep out in the streets and permeate into decent pubs.

For me it's the greatest thing to have ever happened to Scottish football, bar 71 and our championship winning sides. After years and years of getting it in the neck from the Ibrox knuckledraggers that I work with or know, and that my wee diddy team is insignificant, the last 2 or so years have been awesome. Funny how they rarely talk about football now, though that was beginning to change now that they are close to being "back where they belong" it would be the stuff of dreams if the new club hit admin or indeed liquidation. Cue the cries of Armageddon. You just wonder what planet that club is on. Think it's been mentioned on here that it costs our club £1,000,000 - £1,200,000 a year to run the club from top to bottom for a whole season. According to reports, since Sevco started up in Div2 the average MONTHLY wage bill for the management and playing staff only, hovers between £600,000 - £700,000!!! They are the peepul!! Hilarious reading that Alloa sold the naming rights to their ground for a six figure sum, yet Charlie Chuckles sold the Ibrox naming rights for a pound! You couldn't make it up

The shareholders will not be pleased if the naming rights to Ibrox were sold to Ashley for only a £1. Such a deal should not have been kept quiet. If it was done before the flotation, it should have been disclosed in the prospectus.

So what was the real deal? There must be more to this ridiculous give away. Green has a lot to explaining to do.

I'd love one of the Payday Loan mobs to take over the naming rights for Hunbrox. Or even a High St retailer like Next.

I just hope there are very few small businesses, this time, owed money by them when they go mammaries skywards. They've no doubt not had the good grace to attempt to use some of £30+million 'working capital' they had at their disposal when starting out in life in the fourth tier to recompense some of the poor blighters who got 6 pence in the pound or whatever it was. Hell mend them.

Would that be Greene, the guy who became a hero to them by appealing to the worst elements in their support (WATP, "enemies of Rangers" etc.) - in which case I have little sympathy. If they'd had a close look at what he was up to instead of revelling in the myth of superiority he was using to play them like fish, they might not have got to this stage.

They were well warned about Chuckles and his previous antics of asset stripping at Sheffield Und, but the minute he started spouting the sectarian guff, WATP, etc, etc, they immediately fell in love with him. Probably gives you a clue to the average IQ level of Sevco supporters. He has played them like a card and it's only now that it's beginning to sink in.

6 pence was the last Dundee admin. Rangers liquidated, so it was a grand sum of hee-haw in the pound.

Yes, but before they exhaled their last they were in admin for quite a while and the Greene-appointed administrators (Phelps & Duff?) were offering 6p in the pound to creditors or less, depending on which report was in the headlines at the time; at one point, they were offering 4p if I remember correctly.

You're right, of course, that in the end it was the square root of fresh air for all creditors.

@Norge. It's more complicated than that. There are different factions on their board with different agendas. There's a group who want the club to go into admin so they can clear out some of the "onerous contracts" that are sucking the blood out of the club.

Then there are the guys who are maybe benefiting from these contracts (or work for the guys who are) and they might get together to give just enough cash for the club to stagger on.

So while they are in a state that you might think admin (and even liquidation) must come very soon, it's not a given at the moment and not easy to say for sure if/when it will occur. They might even survive to the end of the season. It all depends who gets their way on the board and what their short and long term plans are.

To survive they need to get money in, lots of it, with a monthly operating cost of over £1 million they need that income as a minimal. Gate receipts are down, merchandising income is gone, so where does it come from? Another loan from a dodgy director, lease back on the stadium or Murray park, lease back puts them in a real bad situation as the assets then disappear.

By basic maths the money in the bank is down to zero, so next bill , wages, loan payback will put them into admin unless money comes in quickly, they only have 2 home games in September (1 a cup game with split gates) even adding 20000 on to the ST holders for league game will only generat £400k less VAT, unless Ashley or King puts cash in their gone

Perhaps if they had gone into administration last winter they could've got some semblance of an act together. They'd should have racked up enough points by then to more or less be certain of promotion. I'm assuming a 15pt reduction as they're a new entity. The sevco fans were even more gullible back then plus they may be more likely to actively support their club if they were fielding youngsters.

All that's from a purely footballing viewpoint and could well have been impractical from a business one.

Lots of rumours that Cashley will ride to the rescue, maybe in a similar vein to the way The Master got his hands on Thistle while he was in charge at Chelsea. Pay the money required to get the club or get it out of trouble and put your right hand man on the board to represent you, while still staying in charge at your main club. Whether that is still legitimate, who knows but the only complaint I had with The Master was that he put Johnstone in charge, other than that he saved the club from going out of business and Miller Reid told me how serious the situation was, he also gave us Colin West, Wurzel McNaught and Billy Dodds and sold up to Thistle supporters when they showed an interest in taking over. Never quite understood why a lot of the Jags fans hated him at the time and seeing him absolutely destroy Gerry McNee live on Scotland Today, with Jim White as referee was awesome

As our wonderful authorities regard them a continuance(same club) its either 25 points deduction or a third of previous season total? Not sure which one. Interesting to see if the brothers doon ra ludge follow their own rules.

Be interesting to see what happens if the do hit admin. In reality it should be 15 points because everyone in Scottish football bar the knuckledraggers and football authorities know they are a new club. Pretty sure they will get the 25 and that will cue great rejoicing from the South Side in letting us know that their 5 stars are real and they are the worlds most successful football club and they arra peepul...lol

I'd have thought the fact he made BFDJ manager would have been enough justification. He did get it out of the hands of the Reids which was a good thing but regardless of the good loan players, he set us up to be run by one of the worst managers in our history. That showed his real attitude to the club. I think it must have been a whim for him because if you're going to loan out good young players you should have your feeder club run as efficiently as possible to get them a proper try out. I think he was just taking the piss with us back then. A lot of Chelsea and Leeds fans share the dislike of him.

Yeah but the hard cold facts are that if The Master didn't invest, the club was on the brink. No one else showed an interest and it was in desperation that Miller Reid turned to him for advice. He told Miller that ONLY if no one else was interested, that he would put the money up himself and put one of his men on the board. Facts are, at that time, no one was interested in the club and we could easily have become a Clydebank, Airdrie or Rangers. Yes, he has been loathed at most of the clubs he has been at, but other than the Johnstone episode, I certainly had no complaints about what he did at Firhill. As for Johnstone, he has been one of a long line of diddy managers we have had throughout the years, so an appointment like that was certainly not restricted to the Bates era.
