  1. Big defeat but as good a penalty as you are ever likely to see!
  2. To play devil’s advocate I am beginning to wonder if we actually over-performed in the first half of the season and we are now reaching a more realistic level. Given that we lost our better players in the close season and replaced them as best we could within budget, perhaps getting a playoff spot was at the higher end of expectations for the season and our top 4 position up ‘til now is actually false.
  3. Let’s hope there are no passengers in the team tonight
  4. If the defence can provide a suitable platform then this could signal a better result than Friday’s.
  5. Trains still gubbed - change needed at Prestwick for N-upon Ayr and Ayr
  6. McCall's comments regarding ourselves were a bit wide of the mark but he seems to have worked a minor miracle for his current side this afternoon!
  7. Why?? well perhaps because we are 4 pages into this thread and it has “succeeded “ in generating more heat than light. The fact that similar threads existed previously doesn’t necessarily justify another “I said, you said” thread on a topic that has been- in my opinion- done to death. The financial health or sickness of the club should be of concern but all this “smoke and mirrors “ about so called fan ownership (a notion that has, again in my view, become discredited by its use by others to avoid debt repayment) should be put to sleep until there is something definitive to report and discuss.
  8. Can I suggest that this thread is put in the “General Chat” category in order to differentiate the on field and off field natures of these fora? This thread could then be accessed or ignored at the Forum member’s leisure.
  9. For anyone going by train it’s worth noting that bus replacement is in place between Glasgow and Perth with all the attendant delights that brings.
  10. Stating the bleedin obvious I imagine the run of Dundee U, Raith and Morton all at home between 2 and 16 March as well as Queens at Hampden in the middle of that run will potentially have a massive bearing on our final place as well as being significant for our opponents. Four “6 pointers” in a row - what could possibly go wrong!! 🤔🤔
  11. I suspect Berwick had an impact on his subsequent managerial career
  12. The surprise is that anyone is surprised at such a decision.
  13. CJ Given our, frankly, appalling Scottish Cup record over the past 40 odd years the "magic" (such as it ever was) has totally evaporated - from Dumbarton at home, Cowdenbeath at home, Meadowbank (LIVI !!!) at their place, the results and performances have been dire. Also the Cup has lost a bit of sparkle - I'm old enough to remember back to back games against Dunfermline in the late 60s - both draws, both at Firhill. The League attendance was c6,000, the Cup attendance a week later was almost triple that - such was the allure of the Cup back then - nowadays Cup attendances are, by comparison, very poor - not helped by season tickets not being valid as well! The main interest for me nowadays as regard the Cup is to gaze in amazement at the manufacturing of the draws for each round.
  14. Pity but it's only the cup which is a nice to be in but hardly the bread and butter.................
  15. The problem might be that a team defending desperately at the end of a game starts conceding numerous fouls, using chronic time wasting tactics, and potentially showing dissent at every decision. What then? - does the ref end up sending 3 or 4 or 5 players to the "sin-bin" effectively reducing the game to a farce just to ensure Rangers equalise or get a late winner?
  16. Against Dundee U (a fortnight after the 4-1). Bone injured, Denis at centre forward (I assume Glavin was also injured as he would have been the natural replacement and Charlie Smith was replacing him but can’t remember (Thistle Archive will know!) Should have added that I hope you are feeling better soon.
  17. It’s all about opinion but Denis was magical, Annie was direct and a phenomenal worker (Lawless of the early 70s), and Houston was perhaps more adaptable but let down a bit by his temperament. Also Bobby once tried to give me his whippets ( not a euphemism!) whilst he was a bit drunk on a train coming back from Aberdeen in 1974? (1-1 Prudham) so he will always qualify in any top two wingers competition. In addition Lawrie and McQuade scored at Hampden whereas Houston’s goal was incorrectly disallowed!!!
  18. Denis or Annie would do for me.
  19. The SFA’s preferred draw - Celtic v Brora/Cove Rangers v Bonnyrigg Hibs v Morton Aberdeen v Ayr St Mirren v Airdrie Hearts v us Motherwell v Livi Kilmarnock v ICT 😂
  20. Livi away - plastic pitch no money and probable elimination would be the nightmare imo
  21. Good Lord!! Derek Adams talking sense and almost magnanimous in defeat!
