  1. Just got my shirts - quality/fit are excellent. Thanks @BowenBoys!
  2. Phil et al, do you know if the printer will ship overseas? Thanks!
  3. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, I’d say we are in this position due to a mix of our inability to spot young talent and maybe just a lack of identity. The talent that’s gone out the door in the last 5 years or so (Dools, Erskine, Nisbet, O’Donnell, Taylor-Sinclair, etc) hasn’t really been replicated and neither has the unified team feel from the promotion season when you had young, hungry players who visibly believed in themselves and each other. Kids v Experience - the idea that we are outsiders and nobody believes in us, but us (but that’s all we need). I haven’t really felt like that as a fan in some time. When you keep losing and no one has any answers, chemistry is often part of it. With Dools and Erskine, you had two pros that embodied the club and personified our identity - we’re a smallish club punching above our weight in a large city (in possibly the dumbest football league). I don’t think we’ve since had such players who personify the team in the same way. In the time since I think we’ve made some dodgy decisions with management, lack of consistency with the first team, and at board level (e.g. those monthly comms) that’s all come together to leave us feeling “So who are we, again?” Every season lately has felt like a rebuild and we can’t get out of first gear. Given recent league developments, I’d like the club to try re-establishing a bit of that outsider, “us against the world” mentality, both on the pitch and off. We have a toothless yellow sun for a mascot, after all. We are, on some level, a club for weirdos and outsiders by design. And maybe with this relegation McCall 2.0 will unearth some gems and the cycle will stop.
  4. So McCall gets one win in his first league match back. If he can keep this pace...<takes out calculator>.....oh my! Mon the Jags! Congrats to all the Jags fans tonight. Hopefully more good stuff to come.
  5. Ah makes my heart happy. McCall was manager when I first got introduced to Thistle. Still remember Ami Small arranging for me to meet him, Dools, and Jackie. Incredibly hospitable to a faraway supporter like me. Best of luck, Ian!
  6. Eh. I find people who throw around the term “snowflakes” usually are ones who don’t deal with change very well. Definitely not sexist to not want Shelley Kerr as a manager. Didn’t think Kingleo’s argument was sexist at all - comparing a Kerr appointment to a Yorkie’s isn’t exactly flattering but it was in regards to experience at least. Judge the person on her merits - that’s fine. She shouldn’t get special treatment due to her gender. But simply deriding it as “trendy” with no specific objections to her qualifications and then expanding it to “popular choice” to appoint those “non-male and straight into positions these days” just smacks of fear/frustration about how the world is now and how it ain’t the world you grew up in. Who’s to say we can afford Shelley Kerr anyway.
  7. Toss this out there for debate.... What if we went way against the grain and hired Shelley Kerr?
  8. Just kidding. Admin, please lock/delete this thread. Enjoy your day, everyone.
  9. You guys, I just finished submitting a short message to NewCity via their web site. I’m sure a response will be forthcoming and will update everyone accordingly.
  10. For anyone trying to understand the aims/origins of the fan ownership group, I thought the interview posted earlier was a good start. Kudos for transparency. As an aside, where the hell are the journos on this? American journalists would have already published, retracted, and re-published by now. Are they waiting for a press release they can slightly reword so it looks like they made an effort?
  11. I was more concerned about the disinterest of following a club with no ambition. I think the consortium has potential to change fortunes for the better, which might be some way to reverse the trend of dwindling attendances. I wonder if fan ownership can offer the same.
  12. Does fan ownership for a club our size necessarily exclude us from, you know, dreaming of a long-term goal of some kind of European competition? Would be interested if it’s had any positive effect on attendances for the smaller clubs on the list- either direct or indirect. For me, the concern of fading away due to disinterest is bigger than fading away due to some consortium coming in and potentially wrecking things. The consortium gives me, rightly or wrongly, a glimmer of hope that the club could expand its fan base and, by proxy, its ambitions.
  13. “Dear SPFL, In light of recent concerns, we will immediately begin urging match attendees to ‘hug the Pope and hug the Queen’ during select Thistle songs where appropriate. Please know that should the Pope be found guilty of any impropriety, as does occasionally happen with men of the cloth, we already plan to update our songbooks to ‘Chug a Coke and hug the Queen.’ Should the medical community take exception with chugging a Coke due to its obvious impact on childhood obesity, we are prepared to counter with ‘Rub a Bloke and Mug the Queen’, to which we can find no immediate exception. Sincerely, The Partick Thistle Song and Chant Trust”
  14. Not to merge threads, but probably the ideal “Moneyball” kind of signing our potential new owners would try to make the norm. (And if we got more like McGinty I’d be all for it) Good pedigree with his time at Man U - just because you can’t break into the first team doesn’t mean you’re not talented. Also kinda wished we took a flier on the Scrivens kid.
  15. Anyone else hearing rumour of new owner coming in? Chinese American.
  16. I would be amazed if ANYONE could make a profit off of Thistle, honestly. Even borrowing or mortgaging against the assets. After 110+ pages, have we all agreed to move on from the “raze the stadium and put up flats” plan?
  17. Ninety ninety ninety six pages to go-o-o. I wanna be sedated. No one to sign, no bus to go-o-o. I wanna be sedated.
  18. I think as a result of the “How does a team in the Scottish 2nd tier, with average attendances in the lower four digits, make sense for a consortium that owns Barnsley and Nice?”
  19. In that case, it’s one of the biggest successes of any board since I’ve been supporting the club!
  20. “The shortfall has been partly covered by the fees...” Are they saying: 1. The previous board factored the sell-on fees into the budget before actually having that money? And they STILL were running at a deficit? 2. The previous board did not factor the sell-on fees into the budget, meaning they were running at an even CRAZIER deficit? And Beattie & Co. have decided to apply the sell-on fees to help paper over those cracks? And either way, are we talking about portions of the Fitzpatrick/Lindsay fees? Or all of it? Still confused.
  21. Okay, hear me out.... The team bus was canceled because it was actually a McGill’s bus. It turns out the mystery second bidder was none other than the Easdales, who are trying to stay ahead of the next Rangers liquidation by having a new club at the ready. The training ground was scuppered because they were near a deal to put the new training ground on the old Misco site in - you heard it here first - Greenock which they bought in 2018. The benefits bring it was on the waterfront and very close to an RBS mortgage centre. In preparation, they’d already begun building an underground tunnel between the two. Well, less of a tunnel and more of a pneumatic tube for lending. Meanwhile, NewCity was not keen on these guys trying to take their Barnsley Junior and turn it into The Future Rangers 3.0, so they got the directors sacked and installed their own preferred folks. The McGills Bus just happened to be the last remnant, along with the 200k which GC wanted to use to sign ONE player, slightly out of favor Borna Barisic at, you guessed it, Rangers. Due to language differences, he was able to convince Barisic that “K” is the abbreviation for “millions” and was ready to swoop if the Easdales could convince Gerrard to hand him his walking papers. Now you’re probably asking yourself, “well that’s all quite obvious, but how exactly is Jackie Macnamara tied up in all of this? And THAT is where it gets really interesting....
  22. I would hope a full time club our size would always use a team bus regardless of venue. Being a team should mean traveling to the game together, playing the game together, and leaving together.
  23. I figured it would be dicey, even at something like a 5% “second sale” clause that team 3 would have to agree to. It just sucks that we are talking about a guy who very well may be a Championship stalwart this season, could end up in the Scotland team, and we will only have about 800k to show for it.
