  1. Why 5 at the back? They are bottom of the league for a reason.
  2. What a finish to an uninspiring game. Clean sheet and the back 4 solid. Big Dan was excellent. The subs had an impact when they came on, fair play to the Pog who looked decent, held it up and laid it off well and looked a threat in the air. There was a brilliant goal line clearance at the end from either Fraser or Miller. Great to see the team pushing until the last. What a result. Despite my fears, the pitch didn't really play as bad as it looked.
  3. Absolutely shocking back to back home performances. I can accept that at times we will get outplayed and battered by a better team. Hearts didn't need to work too hard for that battering. Archie has tried many different player combinations to get 4-5-1 to work and with our current personnel, it just doesn't this season. Even with the win at St Jonstone, we scored 2 wonder strikes then don't create too much else. The plan yesterday seemed to be get the ball wide to Amoo to cross for Pogba. The problem is Amoo doesn't seem confident enough to get past his man and get a cross in. Even when he does it almost always hits the first man. He went missing after the break. Pogba...jeez oh, where to start. In fact probably best not too, other than the run, or non run, in the first half where he was played through and he didn't know what to do with the ball sums the guy up. Honking. Individual errors cost us all over the park though. Scully makes a save at the first, maybe could have been stronger in the save, but may have seen it late, but we switch off allowing the heats player to cross and score with no pressure from us. That kinda set the tone for me. Liam had a stinker, been sent off and cost us a few goals this season. Time for a rest. Seam Welsh swaggers about as if he owns the place and has not been at the races for weeks. I could go on. I'm sure Archie will be 'disappointed' or 'bitterly disappointed' as per every defeat. I think he is virtually unsackable but persisting with Pogba in this formation is the kind of decision that is going to bring some amount of pressure on yourself. Once the fans start voting with their feet the writing is on the wall. Onwards to next week, I'd love to see 4 or 5 changes. I expect to see 2 with Dan struggling and Scully suspended. More of the same anyone?
  4. Difficult one as we don't have a great record there, however we are coming off the back of a good result and performance. Regardless, an early plea for calm after the game. We can't keep going on the Archie out / stay after each game. Can we park that discussion for at least a few games?
  5. Is this an absolute, regardless of how far we fall behind? What is your criteria for 'credible, as a replacement? Not trying to be antagonistic LSR, looking to progress the discussion. IMHO regardless of what happens this season, Archie, if he wants to be, will be the Thistle manager next year.
  6. Great addition to the squad, welcome aboard.
  7. Yep, does that make it most of the squad? How many are free to talk to other clubs in January?
  8. Yes, wage wise we are not really competing with the teams in the top league. Some of these teams will have a higher home support than us and will offer similar and possibly longer deals. I was shocked to hear what some of our players were earning last year, albeit basic with add ons. Might not be accurate but I have no reason to doubt who told me.
  9. I think there is frustration but there is a limit to finances available. In my opinion only offering 1 year deals is a big problem. Most of our squad are out of contract at the end of the season. Should we stay up I think we'll have another few like Higgy, SOD or Conrad. Can get a similar or better wage and a longer term deal (ok I know Conrad is without a club) but you get the point. That puts the manager under major pressure as he needs to try to replace low paid players with even lower paid players. We are heading to the Lambie era every player being out of contract year on year. This does not build stability at the club.
  10. I had the fortune to speak to someone associated with the club after the game on Saturday. In a nutshell the wage we are offering for a 1 year contract means Archie is not getting near his transfer targets. Unfortunately that means the players who have moved on for more money are not being replaced anywhere near like for like. Fingers crossed we can pull a gem or 2 from somewhere.
  11. Welsh should have scored- didn't Some players get pass marks- magic Expect to pump Aberdeen - naw I don't expect us to pump anyone in the league. However this point puzzles me. Don't expect to compete with Celtic, expect nothing against Aberdeen or hearts. So that's 9 games we have given up on. Who do you expect us to, as you so eloquently put it, pump? Aberdeen will not need to work less to get 3 points this season.
  12. Better second half.... Aberdeen never got out of first gear. A better second half where we lost 2 goals. Please give me a positive from that performance.
  13. McDaid man of the match. Gallows humour obviously. Have we ever had a bigger passenger in the team. To be fair it was a decent assist for their second goal...
  14. I take it you have seen the performances? Playing well and losing is one thing. Playing as we are and losing is relegation material.
  15. IMO the problem is that we have nothing on the left. Fraser, and I like him and would play him, is not a left midfielder. Neither is Amoo or indeed Lawless as he wants to drift inside. That said we have little on the right either. Shows how much we miss Christie, which is something few of us would have thought last year. We need width in the team, someone to hit the bye line and cross the ball rather than yon big floaty crosses from way outside the 18 yard box. I fear for Saturday if we don't sort something quickly.
  16. LSR, despite disagreeing with you last week I enjoy your alternative view. However, what were the mitigating circumstances in playing so poorly last night and indeed almost each and every game this season.
  17. After Saturday there were people on the forum saying we are only a few points away from where they expected us to be and that all will be rosey in the garden soon enough. Can I ask them what the @@@@ that was tonight? We are rotten, clueless, no idea or invention in the team, creativity zero. Not even worth picking out the issues with each player. Did their keeper make a save tonight? We must have the lowest shots on goal in league football. It would be typical thistle to put 3 past Aberdeen on Saturday but I can't see it. Peter Houston spent the whole match barking instructions to his players, organising, keeping them on their toes. Animated the whole game. I think we were having a sponsored silence. I'll no doubt read Archie's comments about being disappointed, like the Celtic and Hearts game but there is something not right about us at the minute. This squad looks like it is going to be in a relegation battle.
  18. Higgy played yesterday the same way he played for us, but then he was our ned. Sent off a few times for being sleekit. He was their only attacking player yesterday other than the hoof up the park and he did make a difference for them.
  19. Is that not the same for about 3/4 of our squad?
  20. 2 home games and 2 very **** refereeing performances. What did Smith need to do to get booked? Mageniss had many fouls including a few straw elbows, nowt. Miller got booked last week for kicking the ball away and a Killie player does it today preventing a free kick being taken, nowt. I suppose the inconsistency is the annoying thing.
