  1. Agree with this 100% - the home game last year was nowhere near as bad, and the very early goal sparked off a full evening of triumphalism from our green friends. At least the club made plenty of money from them - and if we face this problem again in the next few years, then that means we're still in the top flight! Plenty of folk on here (me included) have also now learned just to stay away from title winning nights like that (unless we're the ones who are about to win, of course)....
  2. Disagree with this - yes, the Bing's grassy knoll looks weird (altho not as bad with the huge advertising there this season), but most non-Jags fans I know think Firhill is a cracking stadium, even with 1 end open. It just isn't value for money spending a million quid on that extra stand when we never sell out the current ground.
  3. No, not last night - but at the Morton game last season (for example) I think there were about 6000 Jags fans... I agree that our core support is lower than 4k, but what if we had a game, say, to qualify for top 6, just before the split, at home to Celtic - i.e. one that "means" more than last night? Would we limit the home fans to 4k then? Don't get me wrong - I am not saying it's ridiculous to suggest giving the JHS to Celtic fans and cashing in - but it would (at the very least) depend on the circumstances of the match....
  4. I do see where you're coming from but the fundamental flaw with that plan (other than that it would turn what should look/feel/sound like a home tie into an 'away' one) is that I don't think there would be enough seats for all the Jags fans who wanted to come to the game. No one seems exactly sure what our current capacity is, but it's not much more than 10k (if that), so that'd be space for less than 4000 Jags fans, with others locked out (based on the JHS holding just over 6k).
  5. Last night was a shambles in many respects (and a disgrace in the home stands from the Scumbhags/the inactive Polis and stewards). I will therefore focus on the biggest positive I took from the night: The Firhill pitch looks brilliant at the moment - bowling green-esque.
  6. Not confident at all but I'm looking forward to a cracking atmosphere and hope we at least score first and/or make a game of it. Don't care about the potential "title party" nonsense of some other Glasgow team who are younger than us; I just want a point (or, 3, which would really boost us up the table and give us some breathing space above St Murn). Mon the Jags!
  7. Personally, I try hard not to gloat at the misfortune of teams outwith the OF, but in Morton's case that's a big ask. Last season quite a lot of their fans really enjoyed telling everyone that they were Greenock Morton and therefore "much, much better than you". Their crowing arrogance didn't seem suited to the first division scrap and frankly they never looked all that good as a team (but they ground out results for a long time and made us pretty nervous). Seems a long time ago now. Poor Morton....
  8. No, it's better we win than get a hammering. Oh, I see what you mean..... ;-)
  9. It could and probably should be moved, but given that the two teams involved are The "Let's Boycott the Scottish Cup and the SFA for Being Horrible to Us" Rangers and Dundee "Don't Pay Compensation" United, I am glad that one or both of them will be feeling hard done by by the end of this - DU because they have to give Rangers lots of money and Rangers because they'll probably get a sound beating at home. It's a perfect shit-storm for those who dislike both teams.....

Great win, and team looks to be playing with more confidence, if not so much silky play. Getting my hopes up a little now about safety at the end of the season. Not surprised to see us win having started Doolan and Taylor together, either, although Higginbotham was the MOTM by a country mile. Mon the Jags!
  11. Happy to see Aberdeen win this and for the sake of interest in Scottish football I hope they continue to do well. They've got a good squad and seem to have quite a few of them signed up long term. It was also nice to see them giving the Bhoys a good khicking recently. Good luck to them...... as long, of course, as we keep up our winning run against them (currently standing at 1 game(s) and counting ;-)
  12. Best way to avoid having to watch them celebrate (then field a weakened team against Rossco, altho not sure why they would do that given that they have nothing else to play for!) would be to beat them.
  13. 2 points dropped, surely. We got 1. Good result away against rivals who strengthened a lot in January. Just a shame that St Mirren's almost-dead season is still twitching now and again.
  14. Sadly it does look like that is why nothing happened. But, I do think it would still sell. Actually, partickthedog's idea above that if (when?) we stay up, we get a DVD of the past two seasons, is brilliant! But, I would still take one which just covered the promotion glory.
  15. I'd buy it. Such a shame to not have that kind of souvenir from last year's brilliance for posterity. I really hope that the reason the DVD never materialised was because of licensing costs, and not just down to sheer, amateurish disorganisation.....
  16. If we're going back to the Marquis of Rosebery's colours from about 1900, maybe we'll start playing in a 2-2-6 formation again?
  17. Ooops, I am editing my post quering why an apology had never happened and should have checked the club website as I now see that one finally went up on Friday. Fair enough. I do still think that it is hard to believe that the club took almost a year to make a further comment on it, but time to move on...
  18. What made me laugh about this story was the assumption that Fat Salary needs to "rebuild" his squad, 12 months after signing what seemed like 50 players. Does he not think they're good enough to win the first division, on 10k a week each, or whatever they are getting? Embarrassing.
  19. At long last..... brilliant result! Well done to the manager and the team! This could be the kick start we need for the run-in....
  20. McFadden is a bona fide Scotland legend - for the France away goal; also the Holland play-off one, and generally for being one of the most skilful players we have produced in the past 20 years, who also genuinely seems desperate to play for Scotland. For that reason, no, I wouldn't shout abuse at him, but then, I am not sure shouting abuse really puts opposition players off much. Also, he was v impressive against us in the 1-5 game - skilful and creative, although I suppose we didn't exactly make it hard for him to look good.....
  21. hahaha - I count 8 (eight!) strained metaphors/cliches in the first 2 lines!
  22. Shame about Forbes but I think he asked himself "would I die 4 u" about PTFC and the answer was no. He only ever seemed to want to play in the sunshine. I hope anyone coming in who has a gallus "baby I'm a star" attitude can show it on the pitch. He'll have to when the pitch is soft and wet......
  23. I like this thread on the whole as there has been far too much negativity and panicking, and it seems to have gone on for months now. A few good laughs here at some of the doom mongering nonsense we've had to read. You seem to think though that a suggestion I (and others) made, to find room for Doolan (in the spirit of, y'know, a relatively measured forum type discussion on what could be changed), qualifies for mockery. Actually, it was not part of a rabid criticism of Archie - just a desire to see a great player included in the team, either as a 2nd striker or a no.10. You obviously know best though, so any (non-knicker wetting) suggestions which you don't agree with are categorised as stupid. Nice one.
  24. Doolan's done very well in the premier league as a lone striker; Erskine's been on the fringes of a team full of breakthrough stars. I don't think pointing out that Doolan could/should be tried ahead of Craigen and Elliott even if we're not playing two up front, is all that controversial (we have benched our best player!). And, given that we're second bottom, I am afraid that the players such as Elliott and Craigen are not immune to criticism, even if they are trying hard / inexperienced / have toiled away on loan; that is irrelevant to whether they are doing it for us on the pitch just now (they clearly are not). The worst thing of all is that they are not our best players but Craigen, at least, plays every week. Both of them need rested. I have never called for Archie's head and I never boo the team or criticise them at Firhill. Thanks for the sanctimonious lecture about support, tho.
