  1. I don't deny you were my inspiration.... Hopefully the "imminent signing" is a good one. Might go for a lunchtime stalk at Garscube.....
  2. Funnily enough, I never said that you had condemned them, nor did I quote you. Heat getting to you?
  3. How many among us heard of PotY Abdul Osman before he signed for us? There are players around who may not be world beaters but are more Tha capable of performing in the SPFL Premiership or even Championship. Not having heard of or seen a player is no condemnation. We just have to hope that Archie fills the gaps well. Not much room for mistakes with a smaller squad though.
  4. You must be daft Lenziejag. It should be obvious to all that the increase in St. Mirren ST sales is because they will be playing the majestic and mythical Rangers FC next season.....
  5. Hideous but I will likely buy one. Good to see the T-shirts available for 3-4yos... I would have liked one of those Timorous Beasties T-shirts but they sunk without trace, never making it to public sale. I like Mr. Shrigley's outlook as quoted in the Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/shortcuts/2015/jun/23/david-shrigley-mascot-kingsley-football?CMP=twt_gu
  6. Mascot is even uglier and scarier than Harry Wragg was before he got cleaned up and recycled as Clyde at last year's Commonwealth Games. Looks awful. Money talks however.
  7. Same old story. Hope it works as well as over-spending (which is the more accurate phrase) did this year. I am sure the mugs will lap it up despite King being rather more reticent to pish his money away than he had previously implied. Another car crash waiting to happen and for the rest of Scottish football supporters to enjoy.
  8. Out on the right wing, Tory former list MSP for Glasgow, Bill Aitken is also a regular at Firhill. Former Labour MSP for Anniesland, Bill Butler is a Thistle fan also. Maria Fyfe was at the Hall of Fan dinner the other week. Hope Ms Black is successful in her quest on Thursday.
  9. With regard to the good results we have had against teams in the top half, I reckon we can score against teams that play expansive type football but are hopeless against packed defences. I didn't expect yesterday because I anticipated St.J playing like they did the last time they were at Firhill. Scoring early made a huge difference. ICT also play more openly than they used to. So long as we don't commit fitba suicide the way we did in the Cup game, we should be in with a shout next week. Bit tougher for the next two fixtures though! Aberdeen and Celtic can defend as well as score....
  10. Norgethistle: Has Ashley loaned Sevco more than the £10M that has been announced to the AIM? I must have missed that.
  11. An actual legend of the game. Never saw him play, but aware of his career and reputation since I was young. Only 22 caps for Scotland despite the degree of success he had. There are guys literally unfit to lace hos boots who have more caps! At least he will be widely remembered and honoured.
  12. King is willing to stump up £10M. Ashley pockets that instantly and the Threw Bears and assorted chums stump up another £10M. That will maybe see them through next season. Maybe. The "onerous contracts" which were previously exposed by another disappeared CEO are likely going to continue ducking cash out. The Sports Direct contract will similarly divert cash, either through its current strictures or through buy-out. The Rangers FC will continue to spend more than they earn or struggle to maintain current squad expenditure. They have overspent for decades and The People expect more of the same. I don't think the new BoD have enough money to keep pishing it away. Scottish football has become compacted in terms of finance over the last 6-7 years since the Rangers-driven overspending days ended. It is more competitive ghan it has been for decades. Laudrup and Larssen level players cannot be afforded. But that means a decent and affordable Aberdeen or Dundee United or whoever can get within touching distance even of relatively high spending Celtic and ditto Sevco. The only thing I can see beneficial to Sevco is that it is was enough to get a better manager than McCoist for a quarter of the money. Same for the playing squad. But there are no guarantees of success. And The People don't like being unsuccessful. It doesn't jive with the Protestant ascendancy outlook that so many of them subscribe to. Was anyone else on here at Ibrox back in the day when there was less Tha 5000 at Ibrox to see us lose in an end of season non event? When they started pumping out cash and winning serial titles in the late 80's and 90's, it was hard to find a Rangers fan who admitted not being there. It was their Seville.... If the King across the water is allowed to run the show despite his criminal tax evasion, he will have to deliver success. Or "stick his haun in his pocket". Again and again .... I think there is a lot of mileage left for people who want to laugh at the Circus. Time will tell. Apologies for the typos. Can't correct them on my phone.... Anyway, feck them. Despite the way they warp Scottish football and society, we still have more important things to concern us. Mon the Jags. On to victory in Dingwall.....
  13. You have your finger on my pulse...........
  14. The story in the Record must be rubbish. I'm sure someone on here was adamant that something happened on the Xmas night out and as a consequence the players had no time and no respect for Archie and didn't want to play. Or wanted to play too much and got shirty about it on social media. And had all chucked it. With one or two possible exceptions. Don't know how they managed to win yesterday. Probably all involved in a betting coup. Or maybe they just played better than the opposition this week and didn't suffer from freak goals, bad luck or being punished for mistakes. Here's hoping it is the latter and we see more of it between now and seasons' end.
  15. Good team performance tonight. Lots of it from our First Division Champions, ably assisted by this season's signings. Fred looked ropey early on but settled. Don't think Gal made a save worth the description. Seabo won just about everything and stood up well to their forwards. Christie excellent at left back, though Accies were much poorer than expected all over. When teams play open, we can kill them. We have still to work out how to unlock the ones that sit in. When we do, top six is guaranteed. Over to Archie for that one..... P.S. Meant to say GREAT performance....
  16. Eh? So if it turns out that McMillan has done nothing wrong he is toast? You've lost me.
  17. Accies don't have a far bigger wage bill than us and they get players into the box and get behind teams in a way we don't. We don't play forward fast enough or hit the bye-line often enough. When we do, we score goals. Hopefully we can manage it on Sunday. I think we have a better chance against more attacking opposition, so here's hoping...
  18. Had to cut off when alighting from the train..... Unfortunately we are not as nice to watch as we often were last season and are missing the creativity that Higgy and Erskine offered in the second half of last season. We will need that going forward. It seems to me that we are not moving the ball forward fast enough nor running at the opposition enough. Hopefully Higgy will hit form and Archie can source someone to add that bit of extra threat for the second half of this season. We struggle to make an impact against teams that sit in (St J and Killie at home spring to mind). A tiny bit extra and we would be in that top six zone.
  19. Relative to last season, we have scored 8 more goals, conceded 11 fewer, accrued 5 more points, and gone further in both Cups (though I agree that is affected by the luck of the draw). There are still shortcomings, but that is an improvement. Undeniable.
  20. When your team ships 5 goals in 20 minutes, I don't think you can be criticised for leaving early. I didn't, but I have no criticism of those who did. Second half was as much a shambles as the first half was a decent effort. Hoping for better today.
  21. Deke Ferguson recognises good fitba when he sees it. Very complimentary about the Jags over the last few seasons. I prefer his positivity to doom and gloom and lack of effort to find out who is who that you get free Willie Miller when he is faced with a club from outside his comfort zone.
  22. I agree we are not in as good shape as we might hope, but I don't think any of the three clubs you mention have improved their position. The reverse is true for Killie and St. Mirren. County going through the usual Adams squad assembly which history implies he will be doing again after new year.
  23. I agree it's a concern that we have only one new signing but I would feel worse if we had given Josh Magennis a three year contract.
  24. Target is 10th but hoping for higher. As noted above, hopefully continuing to play football the way we did the last two seasons and improve the home form. Though we were well behind St J and ICT on points, we matched them in our meetings. There is not a lot between most teams in the Premiership. Marginal improvements in a few areas can make a big difference to a club's final position.
  25. Actually, no. A draw would have been good enough to see us 7th. We conceded two crap goals in our final game. One of them was identikit to a number of goals we lost during the season, where an unmarked opponent was allowed a free header at a set piece. Simple organisation in defence would reduce those opportunities. We have a management team who were good defenders in their playing careers and I am certain would have been totally pissed off that goals like that cost us a 7th place finish. They chose not to re-sign the central defender that they picked up in the Jan transfer window, so they seem to be looking to improve the defence. I am willing to bet that if you asked either Archie or Shaggy if they thought we should have finished higher than 10th, they would say yes.
