  1. He is an experienced player who knows this level well. I don't want to be too hard on Gerry or Scott but it would be better if they did not take the team again.
  2. Don't want to be too hard on Scott Allison or Gerry Briton but if the position does not get filled on Monday we should approach maybe Gary Harkins and Miller to take the team. The team was not set correctly and I think the two players mentioned would be better suited. On to the to the game and Tam O'Ware is at fault for the first two goals. Never closed down Kevin Nisbet quickly enough for the first goal and make a poor effort to block Dow for the second goal. Don't think you can blame him but he got the deflection for the third goal as well! The only midfielder we have with some dig was sitting on the bench in Palmer and De vita's experience in midfield was needed. Banzo continued his poor form and was not suited to playing further forward. We did not seem to know where everybody was supposed to be at times. Dunfermline was well drilled in defending the switch to play to either wing and we failed to exploit the extra space through the middle which should have been available, The main difference for me is the way Dunfermline pressed the ball - they put us under pressure when we got into the danger areas - compare that to us and we made it far too easy. For example they way Dunfermline pressed us down our left with Penrice and Mcginty - clear pre-planned and we failed to change to combat this. In the end, it leads to the second goal. The game was lost but the latter stages but our main attacking option seemed to play a clearly tiring Kakay down the right-hand side. Because of the formation switch, he had nobody helping him and only had one option open to him and the opposing full-back can set himself up to defend that. Why the two in our dugout did nothing to change this I do not now. Very frustrating to watch.
  3. I think both Kakay and De Vita will start today for Williamson and Cardle in the team above. Certainly going to be interesting to see how we line-up. I am still angry at Gerry for playing both Erskine and Spittal out wide in a 4-4-2 last time v United. lol
  4. I think I lot of Thistle Fans see McCall's time here through rose-tinted glasses because of the signings of Erskine and Doolan. His record at Ayr is impressive though.
  5. Probably be Miller and Gerry in charge for Saturday if they don't have anybody lined up.
  6. The team played as individuals and not as a team. Caldwell has not got the right balance of players in his squad and even the players still to come back from injury will not solve this. We lack an experienced centre back and at least one strong tackler in midfield. Upfront will need a big strong target man. Mansell did well for the goal but he is too easily pushed off the ball. Needs to work hard in the gym so he is not bullied by centre backs. Not sure Caldwell can turn this around. The rumours that you hear makes you think the players are not fully behind him. Why he started with Robson and not De Vita I do not know! We lacked experience in midfield and he choose to bench the only one we had! Seemed obvious to me and I could not believe the lineup! The amount of soft goals we have been conceded is terrifying! Looks like Mcginty was ball watching for the Arbroath goal, free header so close into goal is an absolute gift. Keeps changing the goalkeeper and the defence can hardly be helping either. I think we will beat Dunfermline but not sure Caldwell has long to go. I hope he turns it around but I think the odds are heavily against him now.
  7. Archie will not come back. Kenny Miller is the likely next manager if Caldwell goes.
  8. Part-time or not results prove that they are a decent side. Watched some of their highlights and they will be very difficult to beat on Friday night. Don't think Caldwell will go unless it's a heavy defeat. However, I am sure the board are already discussing what they will do if they decide to drop the axe!
  9. Falkirk are still chasing him from what I hear from Falkirk fans. We were definitely in for him so not sure if he has turned us down.
  10. The final was a great day even though we lost. I would love to go one better this year.
  11. I sometimes here stuff from a friend of a friend but don't post it on here!
  12. Dean Watson looks a prospect on the small parts that I have seen him. Interesting to see how he develops. The Glasgow cup games are going to useful to blood our young players. Much more likely to be able to get them out on loan if they have some experience. If we get a lower league side in this cup then that also presents an opportunely. Sena will probably be put out on loan at some stage of this season.
  13. Anybody know when the draw is and fixture dates for next round?
  14. Is Banzo not just suspended for the Arbroath match? Caldwell needs to play a side that will win but he also wants to give playing time to others that have not had many minutes. Fox will probably start here but this swapping the number one position is not great. Don't think Kenny Miller will start - Got to look after him.,
  15. Miller has got to be the strong favorite.
  16. Good defensive midfielders are hard to come by. Palmer will become that player but its a position helped greatly by experience, something that he has not got yet, Might be only able to afford a cheap loan deal for any new deal. Need to wait and see what happens. If we got someone anywhere near the quality of Osman in his first few season we would be right at the top of the league challenging.
  17. Given he was allowed back on I don't think any rule will apply.
  18. Dario Zanatta really impressed me last year. He is quick and has good technical ability. Looks like the type who could develop further.
  19. He has not been great so far but he is a good keeper. There was a lot of comments like not going back till Fox is gone on social media. It's this stuff that I was referring to.
  20. The length of the contract could be down to his injury problems he had last year.
  21. Miller has been very good for us so far. His movement and intelligence will be huge for us this season. On the goals, the first one is an obvious mistake by Fox. However, he is proven keeper at this level and some of the comments I have seen are ridiculous. The second goal is Bannigan at fault at the front post from the corner. Not sure why he is in that position and the set up at corners needs to looked at again. The third goal is poor from both Mcginty and Penrice. Neither of the two mentioned is close enough to prevent the flick on. Got to say that throw on such a tight pitch is going to cause a load of problems for teams at Capalow.
  22. Bannigan is our best player in my opinion but we are not getting the best out of him. He needs a strong tackler next to him but we don't have that player. Even with two midfielders to come back after injury none are the player Stuart needs next to him. These type of players are not easy to come by and with Falkirk paying silly money to Tidser we did not have too many options. Unless Caldwell can source a suitable midfield partner I feel the best option is to play Palmer next to him. He is very inexperienced but has a bit of bite about him and won a fair few 50/50 in the game v Morton. Both goals against County came from failings in the defensive midfield department. Something that will continue to happen with the current set up.
  23. Morton's defense looked pretty poor as well from the highlights I saw. I would bring in Robson and Palmer and drop De Vita and Cardle for tonight's match.
  24. Don't think there will be 30,000 there and not everybody will be paying £20 - you have got child gate and concessions.
  25. Also, Caldwell needs to stop playing Cardle out wide against better quality opposition. That's twice he has been caught out not following the runner. First goal v Hamilton and second goal v United.
