  1. Muzzy on the left. McGinn on the right.
  2. Which of Muzzy & McGinn will switch to the left and why when we have a sound natural left back in Penrice? Previous optimistic feelings somewhat dampened but hopefully reduced expectations will make ultimate victory even sweeter.
  3. I think that you can add to the list Barry Wilson who appears to be the Inverness, whom failing Ross County, partisan. I agree about Derek Ferguson, who seems to enjoy and be interested in every game to which he is assigned, regardless of the level of the teams involved. He also knows who plays for which team and can make sensible comment about them, unlike (for example) Pat "a Partick Thistle player" Bonner.
  4. Totally off the point I know, but when do you get to be the King of Kadriorg?
  5. 2 belated thoughts: 1) England has one team called Rangers. Scotland has one team too many called Rangers. 2) Why are so many football teams named after groups of people who roam far and wide in a random fashion-Wanderers, Rovers, Rangers etc?
  6. DONCASTER IS is an anagram of DISASTER CON
  7. I think we already did in Paul McGinn. I do not think that we would have signed Paul if Milan had been up to the mark, so Milan's departure does not really free up a wage, but rather means that we are no longer over-spending on right-sided fullbacks.
  8. Nothing special, lacked pace, little impact going forward and not so solid in defence as to be worthwhile playing anyway.
  9. or sTANley for the sun worshippers or donCASTer for those with broken limbs
  10. George Rowe almost played for Thistle and his surname almost rhymes with that of Eddie Howe.
  11. Would certainly be short if playing Hearts, which Conor would have to sit out.
  12. All 3 goals were very good and I would say that the first was outstanding, featuring several accurate passes, a brilliant run round the defender and a clinical finish.
  13. My understanding of European Community Law (while it still applies) is that we are only obliged to return a fish if we have exceeded our quota.
  14. Although I am not an expert in such matters, I would imagine that the OF currently attract a large number of young players, who are thus denied to other clubs, such as ourselves and our near competitors. Many of these young players will not make the grade and although some will no doubt be "recycled" by Thistle and others, many will give up in disappointment and be lost to the game. I can only see the above scenario becoming worse if OF Colt teams are allowed to compete in the leagues. They can then offer young players an increased possibility of playing league football and thus cream off a higher proportion of the available pool. Whereas now, some younger players may make a sensible objective assessment and choose a non-OF route because of the greater possibility of securing league playing time, that argument would be negated. All we would be doing is to increase the OF wastage of potential talent. I fail to see any advantage for Scottish football as a whole or even for the League 2 clubs. Would attendance at Colt games be so high that it would make a big difference to such clubs' income? As for other Premiership, Championship and League 1 clubs, why on earth would they vote for a measure which benefits nobody but the OF? I have not read the proposals in great detail. Are there some built-in bribes and/or sweeteners that would tempt clubs to take the OF shilling? Are we and others really that desperate or short term in our thinking?
  15. Thank you BB, I will refrain from editing my original post, so that people can continue to laugh at me and your correction will still make sense!
  16. I was there and thought that Abdul was one of our better performers on the night. As usual, much of his good covering, ball-winning and retention work was unseen or was not interesting enough to attract the attention of the high and low light selectors. He did one brilliant piece of skill to wrongfoot and breeze past a Rangers player-unfortunately I cannot remember when in the game this occurred or who was the Sevco player.
  17. One cause for optimism is that over the past few years we have competed far better with Celtic at Parkhead than we have at Firhill. If you leave out the aberration of the cup tie where Stuart Bannigan was sent off at 0-1 and we ended up losing 6, in all our league games since promotion, we have never lost by more then 2 goals. In quite a few of the 0-1s, we have had opportunities to score/equalise and of course who can forget Ade's memorable finish to secure a draw (and he did have a chance to slot a winner). Feed the fish and maybe we will scale the heights!
  18. Our first goal was the product of a long series of passes originating from their corner. Erskine lost the momentum and the possibility of a quick break, but showed incredible skill to retain possession and reignite the move, and was up at the edge of the penalty box to combine with Lawless to feed the fish and the rest is history. Even the second goal began from a probing sequence of passes culminating in Edwards' run and cross. A QoTS defender intervened with a hurried clearance which Booth controlled beautifully to yet again satiate the appetite of our marine marauder. So despite a difficult surface and the usual cup tie freneticism, there was a fair bit of quality in both goals.
  19. No need to update me, BB. My faith in East Fife was misplaced. So, just Thistle left for me. My only hope of avoiding the wooden spoon is for Thistle to beat Celtic and then I might overtake some of the glory hunters who included Celtic but not Thistle in their selection! At least I will have no divided loyalties as regards the outcome of the match.
  20. It's not so much the small chance of progression (although I am not giving up hope yet) which is depressing. It is playing the same team yet again at a dull spectator unfriendly stadium. There were so many good possibilities for playing different teams, which is what made the Queen of the South experience so enjoyable.
  21. Absolutely agree TL that O'Donnell has made a much more significant contribution than Dumbaya to Thistle's recent history and success. My particular all time team is based on players at their best form. Even then it is a tough call because they are different sorts of players with contrasting strengths and weaknesses. Muzzy's speed, intelligence and game awareness are matched by Steven's dynamism and goal making and taking prowess. I'll give the place to Muzzy as he has a better smile!
  22. Certainly phone on Monday. Too late to post, so will need to be pick up. On the day of the game will be possible, but I am sure you cannot do it just before the match, like at 7pm or whatever. It may be normal office hours, so before 4pm. Just check when you phone. Best of luck! We really do need a more efficient and reliable online ticket buying system.
  23. Never fear. I have just heard that we have signed a new left-sided centre back called Amundsen.
