  1. Struggling to see the benefit in even trying Bannigan at left back. I know midfield is the one area we seem to have genuine depth, but you absolutely have to play your best player in his best position and then work out the rest of the team after that, regardless of the fact it leaves one or two good players on the bench.
  2. To be fair he only joined Hibs in January after things didn't work out for him in Greece for whatever reason. Coming into a team at that stage you have little control over displacing the current number 1, if he doesn't get injured or make any high profile mistakes you don't get a look in. A very competent keeper from my memory with SPL experience, would be pleased if we brought him in.
  3. Renewed today on a Mac, took less than a minute. Couldn't have been easier to part with £300.
  4. I think a bit much is made of the 'step up' to the SPL. If you're good enough you're going to adapt pretty quickly. This is probably even more true of goalkeepers who don't have so much to do in terms of getting used to the 'pace' of the game at SPFL level. Guys like Robertson at Dundee United and Stewart at Dundee have shown if you're good enough you can adapt quickly.
  5. It may relate to the training compensation rules, I think we may still be due money for O'Donnell if he goes down south but unsure. I don't think this will be the last of the released players anyway.
  6. There is no chance whatsoever that Craigen departing is our decision. Best of luck to him.
  7. Black was suspended 3 games for offences including betting against his own team (multiple times). If Lawless's ban is even equal to that it's a disgrace.
  8. Also agree with allyo, chairman comes out and makes positive noises about improving the fan experience and gets slated here. It's also not exactly a stunning revelation that he might have discussed football related business with a fellow football chairman on Saturday. It would be remiss of Mr Beattie not to be considering the business case for a plastic pitch. Given that we don't have one and have announced no plans to install one for next season, I think it's safe to say he doesn't think the case has been made yet, but it makes sense to be talking to people who have them and finding out their experience!
  9. German Jag wins it. Congratulations. Fraser's boots go to LIB.
  10. I'd also rather have Abdul's shirt if I won (can't remember if I joined in this year or not). If I don't win, I'm more than happy to swap Abdul's shirt for Iain Flannigan's shirt from a few years ago.
  11. I think the Bannigan factor is very significant, and that Archie took the seemingly tough decision to drop one of our most talented players (Fraser) because the balance of the midfield wasn't quite right. I think I'm right in saying the County home game which by all accounts represented our worst showing of the season was the last game Gary started? It will be interesting to see where he figures for next season. He's been somewhat unfortunate in that we've been fortunate with injuries over the last couple of months, hopefully he's able to accept his reduced role for the time being.
  12. I like Taylor and am all for signing him in the summer, but saying he's not essential to our plans hardly constitutes fishing. It's not going to be easy to get him on a permanent deal (as last summer proved) but hopefully the experience of this season has influenced Lyle towards staying at Firhill this time round.
  13. Gardyne would be a good replacement for Lawless or Higgy, would have thought County will be first in line for him if he's available though.
  14. We're one of the best teams in the league at converting corners. Strange times.
  15. Hard to say definitively from those highlights, but he looks a little offside for the first goal but I'd say he's in line with Booth for the second. Also, as above, how are Motherwell allowed to show these highlights already?
  16. £26 for adults, you can get them on the ptfc tickets site. Sold around 120 apparently.
  17. I completely agree with you on Taylor, but I think it's only one Scotland player that qualifies via the grandparent rule, James Morrison.
  18. On the basis of anecdotal, made up stats, in any given game the ball is kicked away in a needless manner maybe 10 times or more. I would guess there is on average less than 1 yellow card per game for kicking the ball away. Taylor made a calculated gamble by kicking the ball away in a needless but not excessive manner. His misfortune was that he was picked up on it, but the action is hardly worthy of criticism.
  19. Not sure this deserves its own thread but I think James deserves the recognition. Gets a fair amount of stick but his positional sense, ability to win the ball back and work rate is sensational. Our record in games Craigen has started this season is P16 W6 D5 L5 Pts 23. Without him its P14 W3 D2 L9 Pts 11. A very underrated player in my opinion.
  20. Due to a run of bad luck with other commitments, I've missed more home games this year than in my 15+ years of being a season ticket holder. Next year the chances are I won't miss nearly as many games, but probably still enough to make a season ticket not a 'value investment.' Not many of us make it as a value investment, but to see it quite so constantly devalued by the club in situations like this pushes me further away from purchasing a season ticket again next season. I've lost count of how many such offers there have been this season. The worst part is they'll probably still hardly get anyone through the door for hospitality, make next to nothing on the deal and just alienate a few more of their season ticket holders. I'm all for new initiatives, but going to Firhill is a force of habit. Analysed objectively from a value for money standpoint it doesn't make sense as a way to spend your Saturday afternoon a lot of the time. The constant stream of such initiatives seem to serve only to encourage season ticket holders to assess their purchase in just such a way. Correspondingly, there is a complete dearth of offers being made to season ticket holders (despite the transparent attempt to market this as a 'season ticket holder offer') which only adds to the feeling of being fleeced. We don't ask for value for money when we buy a Thistle season ticket, but we do ask not to feel like we're having the piss taken out of us. They'd probably charge us for that too.
  21. He got a move to Scunthorpe by playing well for us last season, if he gets a different move down south following this season it will be because he's done it again, so I'll be more than happy.
  22. Yeah, Hardie came off the bench to score from an Andy Gibson cross (just before or after Gibson scored away to Dundee in the Cup) and ran over to give Lambie the GIRUY for having him on the bench in the first place. Think Hardie did that a few times that season. Arthur also saved a penalty (anyone able to give us Kenny's in game penalty record, always felt pretty confident in him).
