  1. Bizarrely Jane Lewis did say it was Amoo on the commentary on the Sat night edition. She's then changed it to Azeez for the Sunday edition!
  2. 75 minute programme, with only 6 games to cover but 3 of those games get nothing more than 90 seconds each. Meanwhile they spend nearly 10 minutes discussing a team that doesn't play until tomorrow. You can guarantee that in tomorrow's programme they'll cover exactly the same ground with that particular story. Absolutely pathetic. There's no excuse for them not giving extensive coverage to all 6 games.
  3. He's looking after the Scotland U19s now
  4. Didn't turn up in the 1st half playing the 3-5-2. Archie moved Barton into midfield and played 4-4-2 in the 2nd half and we were brilliant. Best 45 minutes I've seen from Thistle in a long time. Could have scored 5. Got to take the chances though. Credit to Hamilton in the Hearts goal though. He made some cracking saves.
  5. Been a huge Giants fan for 30 years although not seen them live yet. Planning to go next summer and get to as many games as I can. Went to my first game last year when I was in New York, saw the Yankees play the Blue Jays and got a cracker. 5 each after 9 innings with all the runs coming on 7 home runs, before Toronto scored 4 in the 11th without hitting the ball out the infield. Yankees pitchers walked 5 and hit a batter! The home fans were not happy! With it being a Saturday game a lot of Toronto fans in New York for the weekend were there so the atmosphere was great, with plenty abuse being thrown in both directions but all good natured. $18 a pint was a bit steep though!
  6. Chris Sutton has been tweeting his thoughts about all the teams today. Says Cerny will need to be good playing behind an inexperienced defence. I've pointed out to him that while the first choice back 4 are young they have nearly 250 Premier league games between them!
  7. I like it. Quite a continental look to it. Also looks like something Melchester Rovers would have worn. Only difference being Kris Doolan is much better than Roy Race.
  8. This just highlights the folly of the split. There will always be inconsistencies meaning our league isn't an even sporting contest. A league should mean every team plays the other teams in the league an equal number of times home and away as far as I'm concerned. Rather than focussing on the financial negatives of playing Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen only once each at Firhill we should look at the sporting positives of playing Ross Co, St Johnstone, Motherwell, Inverness and Hamilton twice each at Firhill. Based on our record home and away against the big 3 it's far better for us to have an extra home game against the other 5. We also have the extra home game before the split. Should give us a better chance of a top 6 finish. Having said that I do think we are correct to raise the issue with the SPFL. Given in all previous years Rangers and Celtic were in the top league the fixtures were set up to ensure 3 home games against them it was a reasonable assumption for the club to budget accordingly. The SPFL should have let clubs know that there was a possibility of it being different this season.
  9. They've changed the throw in law too. You don't have to start the throw behind your head anymore. Above your head is fine now.
  10. Good work by the club. Sorted out within 24 hours of us noticing the error and we now have our usual seats back.
  11. A couple of us have just realised that despite renewing our season tickets a few weeks ago we have been allocated different seats from those we had last season. The confirmation e-mail did quote the seat but I had wrongly assumed I would automatically be allocated the same seat and hadn't bothered checking properly. So I'd suggest if you renewed online you double check you've been given the correct seat. It will cause problems now as seats used last year are no longer guaranteed and are now being reallocated.
  12. That went well! Has there been any indication how they sorted out the fixtures?
  13. Based on his performance yesterday the guy's a complete and utter bellend. To shove aside the designated penalty taker when it's only 1-0, albeit in the last couple of minutes, was completely unprofessional. Then in his interview it was all about getting himself a new club rather than about Wimbledon. Guy's obviously got an ego as big as his waistline. Can completely understand why Wimbledon have decided to bin him.
  14. Hopefully trips to Dumfries and Hampden.
  15. "Some critics initially feared Kingsley looked too aggressive and could lead to trouble with rival supporters" according to that article! The Sun really is the biggest pile of pish.
  16. Just between 3 and 5pm on a Saturday
  17. There's a rule that you can't show a league game live on TV at 3pm on a Saturday isn't there? As the games all have to kick off at the same time on the last day they're brought forward so one can be shown on TV.
  18. Couple of goals for Duggan tonight in the play off first leg. Takes him to 8 for the season according to the BBC website (so probably wrong!). Any chance of him getting another contract in the summer? Suspect he's more likely to join Queens Park on a permanent deal. Also see that McGuigan's got a couple for Stranraer against Livi, giving him 9 for the season.
  19. BBC were quoting £82m as the cost of Leicester's squad this morning, but that figure has now disappeared from the article in question. I've had a quick Google of each of their squad and it looks like it cost around £50m, but it's a bit difficult to tell for sure as a number of the transfer fees were undisclosed so there are a few estimates. That figure includes Kramaric who they bought for £9m in January last year, but has been out on loan this season. Their wage bill is reportedly £57m per year, so that combined with their transfer outlay just shows how ludicrous the English league is that Leicester are considered underdogs. That wage bill is a quarter of that of the top 3 or 4. Everything has gone their way in the league this season with virtually no injuries, very few suspensions, getting knocked out the cups early and the so-called big teams being very average this season, but full credit to them for taking their chance. Southampton and West Ham have also been decent but nowhere near as consistent as Leicester, and are probably kicking themselves for not mounting a challenge. Delighted for Ranieri. Definitely one of football's good guys. It's going to be really interesting to see how they get on next season, especially in the Champions League. They need to hold on to Kante and Mahrez, although I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them moves on. They might also find it more expensive to recruit players. Teams will likely push up the price of anyone they are after.
  20. The 1974 World Cup is the first I remember watching so Cruyff was the first of the greats of the game I actually saw play live. Such a stylish player and should really have led the Dutch to the trophy that year.
  21. Think BT could still have shown the game live as it's a rescheduled game, but they're showing the 2 Champions League games and the FA Cup replay so they must have decided to dump our game. Could have shown it on BT ESPN but they've decided to stick with US college women's basketball! They had and English Premier League game and 3 Bundesliga games on their 4 channels last Wednesday so they don't mind having football on every channel.
  22. Sky seem to think Abdul's been sent off! Was only a yellow.
  23. Very frustrating. Bit unlucky not to get a point. Hearts started well and had us penned back for the first 10 minutes or so but we then had a wee spell of 5 minutes where we created 3 great chances. Alexander made a great save from a Pogba header before Amoo had a chance when Seaborne headed down the resulting corner to him. He just couldn't get enough on it on the turn. Then Pogba plays Lawless clean through on Alexander and I've no idea what he was trying to do. He should just have smashed it on the volley but he ended up knocking it square when we had no-one else there. He was maybe trying to lift it over Alexander but if that's the case he got it horribly wrong. Hearts then got the goal far too easily with the header from a corner. Was at the other end so couldn't see how the boy managed to get free. Second half we had them penned in their own half for long spells but without really creating anything clear cut. Amoo gave their left back problems all day long, beating him all ends up a few times but without getting a decent final ball in. I lost count of the number of crosses their centre halfs headed away. Seaborne was superb. Had that horrible cheating Juanma in his pocket. What a disgrace of a player he is. Lawless had a decent game too. Was a plane circling the ground for the first 20 minutes trailing a banner saying "No style, no bottle. Neilson out"! What an embarrassment.
  24. We regularly give the BBC abuse for their inaccuracies covering Thistle but I've just taken a look at our squad page on the Sky Sports website for the first time and it's a complete shambles! Numerous players that have long gone and many others out of position. It makes the BBC look professional. http://www.skysports.com/partick-thistle-stats
  25. Good on Hearts, but it's the least they should be doing. There was no "late torrential downpour". The rain was persistent but not heavy all morning and the pitch must have been unplayable when they tweeted it was game on at 11.30ish. To be fair to Ann Budge this was a rare misjudgement since she took over Hearts. She seems to be running them the way a football club should be run.
