Has anyone asked David Beattie & co if they want to run the club again ? It strikes me that they have now given up running the club twice, so I don’t see any desire there

It was a strange corner. Seemed to go very high and come down straight, so I suspect that the wind played a big part. Because of that, Miller misjudged the flight, realised it was not going to come to his head, so just stuck out a foot (the defender marking him was also confused). Luckily it broke nicely for Saunders.

Surely this is the same problem for whoever are the owners/directors. It is not something unique for Fan Ownership (whoever they turn out to be). I know you are a fan of the previous board, so what was their plan to resolve it ?

I was not referring to the £1m more the general guff and bollocks that permeates most threads on ownership issues. That said there are a number of ways to bridge the gap, from bank loans to gifts from benefactors. That is why we have directors (interim or permanent) to identify the best options for the way they want Thistle to be run. This in turn is why I will be using what ever mechanisms I have to get my say on who should be on the board, and that is not verbal diarrhoea on this forum which is something I do accuse you of.

Was it not mentioned when Mccall was appointed. May be I picked it up wrong, but that was what I picked up from the announcement ... McCall to move to Director of Football and Archie to be manager. Quite possible that I read more into it than was intended, but that was certainly my understanding

I'm far from convinced that bringing in players in January is going to be the answer to the current problems. There is more to it than just saying the current crop are not good enough. We have players like Fox, O'Ware, Banagan, Penrice, Cardle, Slater, Gordon (I know he's injured) de Vita and Zanatta who are all proven at this level and we have also seen something from Cole, Palmer and Kaky that show some talent, while Miller should still be able to cut it. On ability that is the basis of a decent side. The problem is that the team is not playing as well as the individual ability. I'm not an insider, so I don't know what is going on behind the scenes, however it would appear that we are playing with a fear of making a mistake. The individuals are trying to do the easy thing, anything that doesn't put the blame on them, but because of that fear, they still manage to get it wrong ! They also, as a team, still don't manage to take direction from the dugout. I can see McCall trying to make changes, but they just fall into old habits, and this has now been a problem for 3 consecutive managers. Rather that just bringing in new players who will fall into the same malaise, we need to find the root of this problem, which has been going on since we made top 6. We need to get rid of whatever that is before we can think about making any progress. On Miller, I would not be surprised to see him go. He was clearly brought in under the impression that he would be inline to be the next manager. With Archie already being lined up to replace McCall, he will need to find some other route into management and I don't think he'll have too much of a problem in getting a player-manager role (probably to come back and haunt us).

I am one of those who didn’t want McCall back, but I thought he’d do better than this. That said I’m not sure you can blame him for the red card

So. Lets move forwards 6 months and lets assume that we have a structure where people can be elected to sit on the board via some sort of fan based voting system. Are you saying that JLo should be somehow barred from standing ? Under what grounds (I know you are keen on the legality, so it needs to be watertight). Lets further assume (admittedly unlikely) that she gets enough votes in her favour to sit on the board. Are you then proposing that she should somehow be barred from becoming the Chair ? I know this is hypothetical speculation of a worst case scenario, but you have not previously been shy of that. I cannot see how anyone can guarantee a no return as it is outside their powers to do so.

Can someone tell me what is their problem with Duncan Smillie being on the board ? He already runs a successful sports club and he was only briefly on a previous board, so is hardly tainted by any association. From where I am sitting, this looks like a very sensible appointment.

Jordanhill Jag and Springburnjag. I think that you are both right, but arguing about subtly different points. Yes the directors have duties that need to be performed, legally and financially and they can't hide behind the decisions of Colin Weir on the execution of these “basic duties”. I can't see him involved in the health and safety or staffing of the catering, or what colour to paint the turnstiles. However on the more strategic decisions, for example development of the City end, or running at a deficit to build a winning team, or how to implement the Fan ownership model then I do think that he will have a bigger say, despite having just the same rights as any other shareholder. If you have ever been involved in a team trying to organise a night out for Christmas, it will be very similar. Everyone in the team has one voice, it';s just that some manage to shout louder than others.

Why be fair to McCall ? What has he done to get better treatment than other managers

I thought we were supposed to be inclusive and everyone was welcome ..... but you are probably right and Tories are a step too far.

You could say the same about many of our former chairmen. Is Caldwell a worse appointment than Murdo McLeod ? But Jacqui seems to get more antagonism against her which I don’t understand. Is it just Social Media and it is more obvious/ easier to do ?

What is the league about then ?
