  1. Far too sensible an idea to ever be adopted in Scotland. For me the best set up would be 2 leagues of 16 with 2 up 2 down & a playoff between 3rd top/3rd bottom. Below 'league 2' regionalise the leagues (as they do below the National League in England). It makes no sense to me that Cove travel to Annan or Elgin City travel to Stranraer (and vice verca). There are enough teams in the central belt who can move between leagues if necessary. It's working in England and elsewhere in Europe regional leagues operate below the top divisions. Teams in the top league will complain about losing fixtures but what they really want is the ugly sisters at home twice a season for the extra gate and TV money.
  2. Seems harsh for what I think is a first offence as Women's team boss. Given it was 2 yellows not a red is it worth appealing? Have similar 'offences' by other managers been treated similarly?
  3. Doolan's was the last hat trick. Scored on 21 Jan 2015 Full list here http://www.thethistlearchive.net/every-known-hat-trick
  4. Picked up a knock Last week apparently
  5. For those travelling to Tynecastle for the cup final, the club is running supporters buses. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/book-your-place-on-the-sky-sports-cup-final-supporters-buses/
  6. Dowds won't be playing (thankfully). Loanees can't play against their parent club.
  7. Not sure what you mean by the 'grow your own players myth'. Care to elaborate?
  8. I see the benefits of academy players as basically twofold. Bringing 2 or 3 players through each season reduces the need to sign players. It also gives us assets to sell on. We can argue how successful or not we are doing that but it also shows potential recruits that (1) there's a track record of academy graduates making it to the 1st team and (2) that leads to them being in the 'shop window' which can lead to moves to bigger clubs. All this needs to be set against the cost of running the academy but that's a separate debate!
  9. The last week of last season could be the executive summary....
  10. The definition of cruel and unusual punishment!
  11. In Scotland 100%. Double that with the ugly sisters avoiding each other too!
  12. Great results yesterday and today. Graham seems to be a natural motivator as well as a good coach and he comes over well in interviews. Will definitely be heading to Tynecastle for the final.
  13. Channelling a sense of injustice! Given the conditions they are playing well but need to 'keep the.heid' cos this ref would happily make it 10 a side
  14. So far so good in horrendous conditions. 1-0 up Hibs down to 10 players. Thistle denied a stonewall penalty, a decision that even Wullie Collum would be embarrassed about.
  15. Ref is David Dickinson.... can't think he can be any worse than Walsh and at least its not Collum.
  16. Thought Neilson's loan was for the season
  17. Those new blazers for Maxwell and his pals don't pay for themselves you know
  18. Nollaig Chridheil to Jags fans wherever you Bide. MTJ.
  19. I'd go further and make a yellow card 10 mins in the sin bin 2nd one would be a red like in rugby. Players would think twice about risking stupid bookings for kicking the ball away or dissent.
  20. Hibs in the semi final at Tynecastle. Probably the best draw we could get. It will be tough but definitely winnable.
  21. Season loan according to the OS. Assuming that means there isnt a recall option.
  22. If we are going far flung CS Maritimo in Madeira would be my choice. Cracking 10k all seater stadium close to Funchal town centre, cheap tickets (€15-€25) for most games and the option to have a beer. Oh, and the weather is great all year round.
