  1. Chick Young mentioned last night that he'd complimented O'Donnell on a fine performance only for Stephen to say that he thought he'd been just as crap as on Sunday! Nice to see he's set his standards high and doesn't want to drop below them.
  2. Queens got their tactics spot on. Doubled up on our full backs every time which renders our game plan useless. I thought Welsh was ok but the other 2 midfielders were non existent. Steven Craig's movement off the ball is non existent. Not once did he offer an out ball to the midfield or full backs which in turn resulted in the aimless punts. It's no coincidence that our best period happened when Doolan came on. He actually works the centre halves by constantly being on the move.
  3. Sadly you could replace the name of Crawford Allan with just about any other Scottish ref and I bet those tweets would probably read the same! Fingers crossed we don't notice him on Sunday. Could be worse though, we could have got Bobby Madden!
  4. Cheers mate, fingers crossed ill be there celebrating with the rest of you!
  5. I'll contact the club, just thought I'd ask and see if anyone had similar problem in the past. Cheers for the sarcastic reply, I shouldn't have expected anything else on here! :-) Was playing 7s, went to run and heard a loud pop and felt like I'd been stabbed in the leg. Bit of a freak injury.
  6. Due to snapping my Achilles and the resulting surgery, I will be in a cast for the next six weeks and therefore on crutches. I'm still hopeful of making the game on Sunday but was wondering if there would be any issue about me sitting in my ticketed seat with crutches? I know health & safety can be a bit mad these days and don't want to turn up to be told that they are some sort of weapon!! Anyone any idea if there'd be an issue?
  7. If we don't go up then Paton will be off. A chance to play at a higher level on better wages would be difficult to knock back, even if he was captain here. The only way we'll hold on to our out of contract players is if we go up. Thankfully, we will
  8. I'm a 9 ticket holder and got my tickets over the phone. They just asked my details and then I assume checked their list. No hassle at all.
  9. How sweet will it be to now go on and win the league and cup after what's gone on today?! Sure we're all gutted but we don't love this team because of Jackie, we love them because they are the great Partick Thistle Football Club. Lets all rock up on Saturday and let a few people know that we still mean business. We've worked too hard over the last 18 months to let it slip now.
  10. I never realised Jackson was his agent. Before the start of the 2nd half last week Jackson and MacNamara were having a pretty in depth discussion as Jackie was heading back to the dugout. Perhaps this was them sorting out the move :-)
  11. In the end that's exactly what we needed. Some goals at the right end and getting the confidence up! I thought Murray started off fairly well and was putting in some decent challenges. He gradually got worse as the game went on and by the time he went off he was having a howler! His passing and movement are far too slow and he ends up getting caught on the ball as a result. Craigen had a great 20 minutes or so, very comfortable on the ball and gets about the pitch well. Looks promising. Bannigan did well at RB and Welsh looked comfortable when he moved back there as well. Didn't think Forbes was at the races when he moved up top but he came on to a game and his ball through to Bannigan was superb. Craig could have had a couple today and seemed to have upped his work rate from recent weeks. He still seems to get caught on his heels at times though. Balatoni took his goals well and him and Archie did a decent enough job on possibly the best striker in the division. Good to see Foxy back and he had a decent save early on at 1-0. McGovern's save from Welsh's effort was superb as well. Erskine's 2nd sums the guy up, not sure anyone else in the team could have done that. Good win, confidence restored and hopefully we can push on now.
  12. Our decision making in the final third is costing us big time. Craig and Forbes had plenty of chances but wrong decision each time. Big Smith had some good saves but did wonder at the time whether he could have done better with the 1st. Archie and Sinclair best players for me and thought Doolan did well, wrong decision to sub him off.
  13. The Livi right back (McCann) is the same guy who got ripped to bits by Sinclair when we gubbed Morton 5-0 last season. Livi are a decent team, their wee number 10 was excellent. No real failures from the jags although still not convinced Murray brings much to the team (might be slightly harsh since he's just back). The defence still look unsure about Smith as he's very hesitant coming off his line but he did make a few decent saves. Hopefully the clean sheet will do him good. All in all, a great win against a tricky team.
  14. I think PT may be suggesting that McCann might try and get O Donnell a deal elsewhere (or ask for far more which Thistle may not be able to afford) which would be beneficial to Dunfermline rather than Dunfermline actually signing him.
  15. I saw them play Glasgow Uni at Garscube in the cup last year. They ran out convincing winners (4-0 I think) but they didn't have any standouts and certainly shouldn't pose us any problems at Firhill. Couple of midfielders who put it about and this is pretty much what beat the Uni boys who couldn't cope with the physical side of it. Wouldn't imagine we'll have any problems with Murray and Paton though!
  16. Murray is suspended. I'd have no problems starting with Craigen if Welsh doesn't make it, the guy looks a pretty decent footballer.
  17. Always sad news when a fellow Jag passes, thoughts go to his family and friends. Might be a nice tribute if one of his songs got played before the game against Hamilton on Saturday?
  18. I got in to the ground pretty early yesterday, about 230, so decided to go get something to eat. There were 4 people behind the kiosk but only 2 could be arsed serving. It got to the point where I had to shout on one of the girls to actually serve me. There was only about 5 of us in the queue at this point but it still took forever for the staff to work out that they should all be serving. Anyway after purchasing a pie and coke I can confirm like others on here that the standard was pathetic. I couldn't even get the pie out of the casing without the bottom half collapsing and the coke was just flat, syrupy pish in a cup.
  19. Likewise mate, good to chat about the Jags for a bit. I actually have no idea how I remembered you, must be the power of the forum! Was a brilliant weekend, good to see a lot of Jags fans about as well.
  20. During the 1999/2000 season, what Canadian born player played for the Jags?
  21. Score with the last kick of the season?
  22. Hyde is a donkey, wouldn't take him for my 5 a side team! To be honest, don't think I'd take any of the players freed by Dundee. Fotheringham played well when he played against us for Livi but he's got a bit of the "billy big baws" attitude about him. Be good to sign up a few more experienced players, Hugh Murray would be ideal.
  23. Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere but I notice the old two kit men are back at Firhill. When did they return? Always seemed to be popular with the players in their previous stint at the club so nice to see them back.
