Is the player of the year night not on saturday? If so are they not all more likely to be there?

Interesting to read that Ayr United fans were disgusted by the way Dundee United behaved while attempting to sign Craig Conway. While at hospitality at Queens Park a couple of years ago one of the Directors of Queens Park remarked that when a time takes a player off them there is obviously not money for that player. But what a club tends to do is provide a gift to Queens Park, for instance one club paid for new goal posts or another may loan them a player. The director remarked that Celtic, Hibs and Partick Thistle had always did this with their players. He remarked that the same could not be said for Douglas, Dundee United just swooped without a word of thanks and the Queens Park directors think they behaved a bit disrespectfully.

Does anyone know if the scarves these gents are holding are on sale at Greaves or the club? Not seen them anywhere else

Im wondering that if we lose a lot of our behind the scenes staff to Tannadice Archie may bring in Hardie in a role, maybe youth coach or something. In general most SPL teams have loads of different coaches - community, youth etc - Falkirk do as well so would not be surprised to see Hardie in some role with the club

A number of first divison teams including Morton FC have tweeted PTFC congratulations. Like this thread big respect to all these teams and in particular Morton FC, they made for a great league and hopefully they get their chance soon in the SPL

What a signing Andy Dowie has been done by Archie. Well done to Andy for some really solid performances since he rejoined us about a month ago. Erskine's goal was fantastic. What a player and what a miss he will be

I dont know how efficient Steven Craig would be in the SPL now but someoneposted that he is being given a new contract because of his aprt in getting us there then maybe he could double as forward coaching. Then again that was a just rumour about Craig given a new deal so maybe not

Also while there has been a bit of laughing at Dundee's SFL squad this year, they will be one of the favourites to go back up when relegated and I cant see them doing what we did with some of our SPL players in the first divison - Hinds, Fulton, Murray and get relegated to the second

Theres very little mention of the £40 grand we are supposedly due for Sid as well or has he paid up? Would like to think he has and would be pretty disappointed with Donnelly if he didnt

Both have been great players for our club and leave with my thanks. Do not begrudge them a chance for more money, new contract etc. I hope one day they will return to Firhill at PTFC players. We do need to concentrate on Partick Thistle now so it is important to let others get their chance to show what they can do or cant do to stay with Thistle. However I am against the situation that happened with the likes of Kenny Arthur where he was not given a chance to be fully applauded onto the pitch in his last game by the club. So I would play Erskine and Paton for the last 15 minutes of the game against the Pars and hope when they come on everyone will stand and applaud them (providing Paton is fit enough) In terms of captain I feel it is important to concentrate on some of the lads who are out of contract or who we need to offer improved contracts too and offering them captains armband for a game would hopefully strengthen their commitment to Thistle and maybe persuade them to sign new deals eg Doolan, Welsh, Lawless, Forbes, O Donnell etc

Im surprised theres been a few criticisms of going through lower league players - quite a few decent players in the SPL from lower league teams - Barry Douglas, Gregory Tade, Tony Watt, Leigh Griffiths was originally from Livingston, not forgetting our own Cairney and Harkins plus plenty more who came from the lower leagues. Remember the time we got promoted 2001-2002 and stayed up 2002-2003 in the SPL plenty of players made step up from lower leagues we had in the squad. We had signed Hardie from East Stirling, Alex Burns from then SFL St Mirren and plenty of others. Contrast the next year and the number of SPL players we got in Bonnes, Grant Murray, McBride etc or supposedly Premiership class like Anis Some of our worst players in recent years have been supposedly tried and tested SPL journeymen like Steve Lovell, Jim Hamilton, Craig Dargo, Paul Di Giacamo etc etc

Only thing that can make up for this disappointment is to get Harkins. As for Paton would Scougal from Livingston gets rave reviews maybe even better than Bachirau. Dont know if Bobby Barr is still training with us
