  1. Ngwenya seemed to take up a strange starting position when being faced up. It worried me, as he didn't seem to have the correct angle to tackle or the speed to catch the player that had gone by him. Felt sure he was going to concede a penalty. Thought Neilson had a great game at the back. Read the game well, won his headers and distributed confidently. Lawless was outstanding in the second half.
  2. Looks good to me. Let's go Jags!
  3. It's really not easy to support any other team. I've lived in England for most of my life and been to a few grounds to watch different teams. I even followed my home town team, Corby, for a couple of years but it's just not the same. I'll watch an English game with Scottish players in it and in some way enjoy it but that's about it. I'll only ever support Thistle and Scotland. If Thistle were no more, I'd only support Scotland.
  4. I feel qualified to answer this, having had many a pint before the footie. For me it's about extending the day / trip and enjoying the place you're in and the company you're with for longer. I travel a fair way to most of the games I watch (Thistle and Scotland), and meet with friends and family for a beer and maybe even a bite to eat. I've done the 700 mile round trip to Glasgow and back a few times in the same day but it's far more enjoyable to stay up there and go out on the town. A close friend that travels with me feels the same way, so it's a no brainer. We hit upon the idea that we'd try a pub we'd never been in before each time we come up. The Sparklehorse in Partick was a rare find. As for drinking during the game, that's just to delay the hangover. Nothing worse than sobering up halfway through a game.
  5. And a few outliers. I'd probably be one of those.
  6. I was impressed at a valiant attempt at normal distribution, with an almost perfect inverted Bell Curve. Thistle fans showing their class as per usual.
  7. A win would give the players and the support some belief that this could be a good season. Early days, but they all count.
  8. I'm still of a mind that one day, the Bing will be transformed into a terracing once more. I'd wait until we could name that in honour of Mr. McParland, with the road behind, already suitably named.
  9. Off topic but definitely doesn't deserve a new thread. I often wonder if any of the posters here lived in Cumlodden Drive in the mid to late 70's. I was staying with my Auntie and cousins and despite being a Rangers fan, my cousin agreed to take me to Firhill. I was Thistle daft. He took me to a pals house, who didn't happen to be in, but his lovely Mum let me choose a Thistle scarf to wear to the game. I was only 7 or 8 and remember being dazzled by the selection he had. I really wanted to, but remember not taking the one with all of the badges on, as I thought this was too special. The scarf was returned btw. Anyone on here relate to that?
  10. It's not the same thing, as the cup win example has implied odds. Going back to the point of the 'rush back from Ibrox' and sack McCall thing. This was a disgrace on many levels and even to the point that the aftermath of this, ruined our glorious defeat on that day. Why anyone would have felt that to be a good idea, is beyond me and I've yet to hear anyone say that the timing of this was proper. I don't think there is any argument to be had on this. The arguments around whether McCall should still be manager or if Doolan is good enough etc., are down to the individual. Personally, I've always liked the idea of Doolan as Manager and Trainer, with McCall taking on the other duties.
  11. Feels like a win win situation for some. Join in the fun if we win and get to be proved right if we lose. There's probably a grain of truth in what most of you / us say but I listen to us in the same way I do pundits, with caution and for some entertainment.
  12. What is it with us and Cups? Nothing but bitter disappointment.
  13. There is no first scorer as it stands. Own goals don't count. Been a while but do you get your money back if there is no first scorer?
  14. I guess the next 110 minutes will tell us what we're in for this season. And who knows, we might pull one back and take it to extra time.
  15. Albert Craig? He has connections to my hometown and I'm sure someone mentioned he was a Thistle fan.
  16. If it was the beginning of the end for McCall, then it was because he thought that our second string and I probably include Fitzpatrick in that at the time, were good enough, when they clearly were nowhere near. I was at the game with friends and family, including my nephew, who was attending his first game, and felt cheated tbh. There was a decent Thistle support there that night and for me, McCall chose minutes in untried and uncaring legs over trying to win the game. He chose to discount it, the fans clearly didn't. Having said that, I'll stick by my point and say that overall, I was less disappointed with this loss than a loss in any other competition, including the league of course.
  17. It's one of those that we can readily discount, should we lose in one of the early rounds. Falkirk away last year being an example. On the other hand, the final at Livi v QOS, was a great day out. I wouldn't mind another one of those tbh.
  18. Didn't want to start a new thread....... This girl is very good and talks well about football in general. Her Mum gives her a great answer on the phone in the video from 7.35 onwards. Up The Jags.
  19. If they were included, that would mean very few, if any, pay at the gate fans. I'm guessing they're not included in the attendance figures.
  20. Add another 1 to the number, if you counted more than an hour ago.
  21. 3rd best outcome from a financial point of view and we might just nick it. Glad the Dundee's are out too.
  22. Still a good amount. I guess there's half of any gate fee to add to this?
  23. Get through this and things could go our way. Looks like most of the teams from the North East are going out. St Johnstone, Dundee United, Inverness and Dundee look out already, with Raith looking like they could also struggle to progress. I wonder who we'll get of Ross County or Aberdeen should we win on Saturday.
