  1. I had to rub my eyes when I saw that too!! But in fact I think the very same ticket appears in the 2nd video, close-up, and it's 1971.
  2. Good point. And given that our players sometimes don't turn up until it's too late, God knows what kind of results we might see.
  3. I actually quite like the idea. Get it over with early on, then leave the rest of the day for enjoyment!
  4. Good point. Imagine how awful our league position would be if other teams could play football at Firhill!
  5. Two superb videos. What a pity that the feel-good factor they bring is suppressed by other goings-on at Firhill.
  6. Cappielow is a total hole at the best of times, and on a freezing, rainy night in February is one of the places in the world where I would least like to be, even if Thistle cruise to a 6-0 victory. I won't be there. Hat doffed to all the R&Y guys who go.
  7. Just completed it. At least they're making an effort to gather information. It's a start.
  8. I must admit to scratching my head when I see (usually the same few) people bemoaning the performance of the Jags Trust, saying that it's useless (or deid, or both), and making vague comments about the need for an alternative, but actually doing nothing. And let's be absolutely clear, whatever alternative emerged, there would be differences of opinion, indeed probably different factions with quite different views about how "to take things forward". And what exactly does "take things forward" mean? Gaining greater influence on big decisions that get made at Firhill? Well, how can this be done, given that the dream of buying massive amounts of shares to become a (or the) dominant influence will never become reality. Does it mean generating income for the club? Well, it clearly does that with various events that get organized. Of course there are other possible ways of doing this, but it's not clear (or even necessary) that this has to be done via the Jags Trust. There's really nothing to stop any individual supporter or group of supporters organizing something to raise money for the club. But then I do ask myself, what is the point of joining the Jags Trust? I'm a member, but I basically consider my fee just to be yet another donation to the club. That's fair enough. So what would be the point of joining some alternative grouping, even if one was to appear rather than remaining a figment of some people's imagination?
  9. I noticed that too on Saturday as I naively was walking up to Firhill thinking that there might be a game. Also noticed that the Thistle Bar had a "For Sale" sign.
  10. Our league position might have looked better if we'd signed Trouten when we had the chance.
  11. I'd dispute that. They got there through winning just about all their home games on an artificial surface on which other teams had real problems, as they didn't understand the way the ball ran and bounced on it, whereas Hamilton practiced on it every day. Their away record showed them up to be a pretty poor team, in fact.
  12. Well, today's postponement meant that I got home in time to watch Man Utd. vs. Crawley on the ol' computer. Man Utd were manure, and although I like them, I was really hoping Crawley would get an equalizer. They played some really good stuff too.
  13. Whenever I think of great Jags victories the sun always seems to be shining bright!
  14. I remember something similar (frozen pitch, or heavy snow) several years ago. Folk in hospitality just kept drinking until they got bored and went home. Got vouchers for free admission and snacks for the rearranged game. Seems reasonable enough, given that it's not actually the club's fault.
  15. There hasn't been much of a build-up to the match, and Thistle failing to win any of their last three matches will keep the crowd modest, I reckon. Not to mention the sheer drudgery of yet another match against Falkirk.
  16. Thistle switching to becoming a part-time club would see crowds of well below 1,000, Firhill becoming a non-viable home, and football in the 2nd and 3rd divisions the most likely scenario for ever more. Might as well move to Lesser Hampden.
  17. Sometimes it's great being an old b*stard.
  18. Dunno, but that was some goal, from the clearance in their own penalty area right up to the moment it hit the net.
  19. Yeah, but what do you really think about the performance?
  20. Made lunchtime pass a whole lot quicker! Great site. Couple of comments: Tried several times but the 1952 John Anderson photo never appeared. Pretty sure that the 1970's picture of Arthur Duncan in a Scotland jersey was taken long after he'd left us; he was a Hibs favourite by then. Supporters' Notes: Interesting to see some of the supporters' bus locations: Bridgeton, Falkirk, Paisley....! Top notch site.
  21. There's too much football going on these days, especially televised football. The UEFA Champions League is boring until the final stages, and the UEFA Cup (if that's what it's still called) is boring even in the final stages. They should be pared right down to 2-leg knock-out competitions, the former for national champions only. Oh, and bring back the Cup-Winners Cup; in some ways it was the best of them all.
